And what do they get when they finally unlock it? A profession with no bonuses thats hunted down by players. And you have to grind up 1 million combat xp without dieing 3 times. I know a goals a good thing to have. But this seems a bit to much.

I can't really be too hard on SOE - having the jedi requirement be that people experience a variety of different professions, so they see more of what the game has to offer, must have sounded like a good idea. The problem is that they fell foul of human nature. A hologrinder doesn't experience a profession - he goes through it as quickly as possible, bitching and moaning that he can't go through it even faster.

Unfortunately, I can't think of way of awarding the FSCS to players that wouldn't be either arbitrary or as likely to turn into some sort of grind. There's no way of coding "give jedi to deserving players" so either they'd have to be awarded manually by SOE staff just as some badges are (and You can imagine the whining on forums THAT would generate), there has to be some sort of mechanical process like the current one, or everybody gets a jedi character (or else no one does). You can't all have jedi in a Rebellion-era game because jedi are supposed to be relatively rare... but it wouldn't be Star Wars for a lot of people with no jedi at all.

Which is why we have the current system. And being as it is, there are three pieces of adviceI can give to those passing through on their way to jedi:

1) Grind Wastril Bread until you get Mixology 2.

2) Grind Ithorian Mist the rest of the way to master.

3) Just remember that when you do get jedi and all the bounty hunters are out for your blood, you're going to need all the friends you can get. Keeping a respectful attitude towards everyone you meet now will make life a lot easier (or at least a bit longer) down the line.

You can master chef in under 24 hours playtime if you want to, and have the resources, it doesn't get much easier than that.
