Thread: I remember...

However this change I believe is different. This change will not simply change a system but DRASTICALLY affects existing characters that have worked so hard to level a profession that is so difficult. I think they will HAVE to tell us something about this system.
1. They HAVE told us the system is changing, theyHAVE NOTtoldl us when or given any kind ofestimate as a courtesy to those who are still grinding.
2. They HAVE told us in a chat, not in any detailed posting, the system they are working on involves main characters becoming force sensitive. They HAVE NOT responded to the furor on the forums.
3. They HAVE told the correspondant the details of the proposed system and that over two weeks ago, but they HAVE NOT allowed that information to be supplied to the playerbase at large.
What makes you think future behavior will be any different? They don't HAVE to tell us anything and generally don't unless we make their lives rather uncomfortable. Amusing really, since I'm sure they don't like the furor or the flames, but the only cure for that is better communication which for some reason they seem loath to attempt.

Also.. (and as I said in my last reply I'm VERY concerned about this myself) ... perhaps they will tell us "Existing Jedi Slots will be grandfathered in...and allowed to persue normal lives like new Jedis can" or "Existing Jedi will be able to choose which Character to keep - and skills/posessions will be merged to that toon" ... My point is that they MAY have come up with a solution to this problem and we just dont know it yet.
(Please Devs: come up with a solution that doesnt FORCE character choices we never made)
... Hopefully they've come up wiht (or are coming up with) a workable "grandfather clause" and will tell us about that soon.
The problem that I have is that I have no faith in the Devs and/or the decision makers of the game. They have never proven themselves to be capable of making the right decision in these kind of matters and because of that I am very concerned.
I think the changes could be good. I think that there needs to be some way to keep the current Jedi from being screwed during this phase (I built a rodain on my main because I knew it wouldnt ever be a Jedi). I think that it is foolish to freak out over the changes since we dont know what is going to happen... but...
The devs and decision makers have put themselves into this situation. They have really screwed up a lot of classes and have handed out the nerfs like there is no tomorrow. Because of their poor history we are shooting blindly into the dark with if the changes will be a good thing or not... and since they lack any sort of communication, especially when it comes to Jedi, there is no way to sit in comfortable silence while the inmates run the asylium.

Agreed. And this is why I don't feel particularly rude about being as demanding as necessary to get answers and secrecy be damned. This is not an evolutionary change to gameplay, it is a major revision. In that sense, it's a new game as far as Jedi are concerned and it would be sensible to consult the existing player-customers as to what accommodation will be made that is fair to all.

Yup, exactly. Like I said ... I **SO** understand the concern. And you're right they've put themselves in this situation by releasing too little information concerning what may be the most controversial aspect of the new system.
They really need to work quickly to be able to release a "relax, here's the big picture" post. It doesn't have to give away the secretes, but basic information like "How this will affect existing jedi" is NEED TO KNOW information. And they will get alot of angry posts until we at least have that. It's very hard to constructive when all we have is blind faith .... next to impossible when we are struggling with the faith part already.
DEVs: please hurry up and let us know what happens to existing Jedi.
Someone in another post said they'd read a DEV statement that old jedi get to keep their 2 characters. But I cannot find this information and so far no link to that has been provided...
Anyone know if there is any truth to this?
Regardless of the other details, main -> force sensitive isn't a good approach IMO. Since game launch the players have been told 'you will get another character that will be force sensitive/Jedi'. Now, we have all these people (paying customers) who accepted this reality, planned for it in its eventuality (when they do unlock), but what is this? The system will now change? The plans of thousands of players goes right out the window....
Additionally this creates legacy issues with the existing Jedi. How can they be possibly balanced with the new main/jedi? Today, even if one does not enjoy the Jedi grind, they can drop back to the safety of the main character, which will apparently be gone. All Jedi need some way to try to make money/get crystals/pearls, and this could be VERY difficult if the main = jedi approach is implemented.
All in all, I think the Devs are just jerking us around again. Hopefully, this jedi = main idea will be like the bug fixes in this game: they never get done.
