I'll be sticking with small glasses and casks for now (I don't think large glasses are worth 10x the resources of small glasses). Since I'll be buying from a tailor, I don't worry about that factory run.
The runs are going much more quickly now, so it's not a bad trade-off. The BE additives aren't required, so you can save yourself 2 runs if you wanna save that expense and time.

It may not be at the same consumption rate as food, but IIRC the BH tracking droids are single use, and require 4 Master artisan components.

This is fairly normal. All the other elite crafting professions have this level of factory run requirements (DEs are considerably higher in fact - as in 21 factory runs to produce a single run of probots). I see nothing wrong with the level of effort required.
Chefs are making consumeables though, droids last a long time. Not a good comparison.

Trim is a tailor component. It's pretty low on the skill trees (either Novice or a first-row skill), so it shouldn't be hard to find one who can make it. Finding one who is willing to make it might be a bit harder, IIRC most of their spare factory time is spent churning out Reinforced Fiber panels and Synthcloth for armorsmiths.
