1) factory run of power conditioners
2) factory run of control units
3) factory run of barrels
4) factory runof BE additive
5) factory run of chef additive with BE thing in it
6) factory run of alcohol
7) factory run of final item.
remove 1 step if using casks instead
price for this crate - 2 million
.. seriously if people want top spec stuff they better expect to pay big time for it
Is this intended?

Remove 1 and 2 if you're buying components and #4 if you're buying BE additives (not your case though). Of course it only makes the final product more expensive
I guess it only makes sense to use barrels if you're making high level food with rare resources and high quality BE additives. Otherwise better stick to casks or large glasses.

Actually you need double trim, so it is the same number of factory runs for a barrel or a cask.

This is fairly normal. All the other elite crafting professions have this level of factory run requirements (DEs are considerably higher in fact - as in 21 factory runs to produce a single run of probots). I see nothing wrong with the level of effort required.

I think the biggest gripe of the chef profession when it comes to this is that a full run of probots will stay on a vendor much longer than 3 full runs of vasarian brandy. So, the chef will always have an empty vendor and pissed off customers, while a DE, WS, AS, etc... will have some semblance of stock on the vendor, since their items aren't quite as consumable.

Fox, good point. FWIW, the big volume DEs like myself do make a lot of droids by the crate and hand make the custom orders as there are certain combos that always sell really well. Let's look at something similar, which would be the BH droids. (BTW, I have both a Master Chef and Master DE chars, so I am familiar with both sides). Arakyds take 5 factory runs to make, Seekers take 4. They sell in about the same time (I sell 200+ crates a week of BH droids, so I have 3 factories full time devoted to that task). From what I have seen of the manufacturing time for foods is that The total time, start to finish will be about the same for both Chef and DE for the volume sellers.
What I like about this is that chefs will now start to become more specialised in a certain area, much like Weaponsmiths and Architects have become. Yes it will take a while to make a single large crated run of one particular food, but with some proper management of factories you can probably specialise in 4-5 main foods with the occasional run of something else. For example, I'm already looking to specialise in melee-based foods for PvP work as the guild I principally work with is very PvP oriented and has a lot of melee players. With the Milk and BE stuff, I see the days of the independent Chef without a guild as being very limited though.
Edit: because I thought of another example. Those MSE droids with item storage that are such the range right now to avoid decay: I make a run of those every 2nd week. That's 1000 mses with item storage. Requires 6 separate factory runs and 1 rare and one ultra rare resource to make (ie once every 6 months it spawns). The demand for these is going to sky rocket with this patch for smuggling and avoid scans.

I'm coming from Smuggler and used to making crates of muon with ease and a HUGE profit margin. Think I might go back to the "EZ" money. 15 radioactive, 15 metal, 15 water..... bam!

Chefs are making consumeables though, droids last a long time. Not a good comparison.
