Sounds like someone fat fingered some math when they made up that formula lol

the way i see it the stuff for emergencies. Making a attack on turrets or a run into a base 6 attacks could mean difference between life or death. Failure or sucess. For anything else the drinks worthless. However i still want a crate

Why wasnt i supposed to bring a knife to this gun fight again?

The "triggered" foods (next -whatever-, next X -whatever-) are completely independent of how long they stay in your stomach. There is a 60m timer on the buff, though, and it looks like when that 60 minutes is up, it goes away even if you didn't hit the trigger (or all the triggers). This is one of those things that the devs are going to look at tweaking as more people use the new foods on Live.

As for the mitigation, here's what I got with a quick tussle against some plains cats:

A female plains tuskcat hits you for 59 points of damage

Your Ubese pants prevented 46 points of damage (pants have 54.1 kinetic protection)

19 damage was mitigated by defensive buffs (synthsteak had 25% reduction for 32 attacks).

A hit that got me on an unarmored spot looked like this:

A female plains tuskcat hits you for 63 points of damage

20 damage was mitigated by defensive buffs

So, when armored, I somehow ended up preventing more damage than I took. And it looks like the damage reduction was reading the number from the attack count (19/59 = 0.32, not 0.25). Things got a little too hectic to check whether I was still taking damage (other than from my special attacks), but this looks a bit like a bug.

I dont think thats how it works. I think it works similar tointimidate, in that you never actually see the damage mitigated..but it does occur. So in your example above the tusk catactually dealt 78 damage...the synthsteak would take off 19 of that damage (25%), 59 damage is reported in the combat spam, then the armor kicks in and does its thing. Im pretty sure that this is "working as intended."

I see, that would explain the 10 minute fire fight last night. Makes flame out useless for the time being.

Making tons of this before it's nerfed!

What nerf? The calculations are just putting the synthsteak numbers in the wrong place. Once its fixed, it won't matter when the synthsteak was made, the data on the food won't need to be touched.

Now if you meant making and using it before it's fixed, I agree. I might use some stacks of synth and a full suit of armor (I normally stick to just pants/jacket/boots with helmet only if I'm getting hit in the head a lot) and go to town on some red cons for fun. Be sure to stop by the cloning center to find out how well I do.
