Stat buffs and food that is x times should have a timer. I don't know if 30 minutes is good or not, but certain things I would like to see a lot lower. For instance 80%ish dmg reduce over next 3 hits. Ok 30 minutes isn't horrible, but why would 10 or 15 minutes be that bad?
Also wondering if the stomach emtpies upon death?

Almost all skill buffs last in the stomach as long as they buff for. And no skill buff foods stack. (meaning you can't take 2 dodge buff food/drinks, I tested this)

15 minutes means that you could take food that lasts 45 mins and have double the max stomach filling worth in 15 minutes. Then triple.

Doesn't sound very balanced to me.

!!

too lazy to hit back and quote so...whoever above (ezran I think?) said well what if the buff lasted x time but the filling was x and then you could pile stack em because of the length.

This is kinda what I was getting at. Lets say I eat a +25 dodge food that last 45 mins (im feeling really lazy not looking up stuff) My chef experimented it so that it had a 50 filling. If ate one, I could still eat another. But then nothing at all for 45 minutes because thats how long the buff lasts and the filling doesnt go away for 45 minutes. The way the limit on how much you could "stack" would be set by the experimental filling rates. If they wanted you to only be able to eat 1 then the experimental filling rate would be over 50. If they thought that you should be able to eat 2 it would be under 50..within the applicable number range of what they felt was balanced.

So for skill/stat buffs at least, there would be no way to stack them over and over over...so I guess Im not getting what you mean?

Let's say there's a 15 minute stomach emptying time.

You take a 45 minute buff. 15 minutes later you take another (Double power) then 15 minutes later you take enother (Triple power)

You could keep the triple power indefinitely.

Unfortunately, the more I analyze these buffs, the more I find they are balanced. Reduced as far as stat buffs go, but still balanced.

*Sigh*
No more reason to stop NERF calls.

But the skill buffs still rock (You shush Nikii, they're good), and the entire system is very diverse. I'll enjoy it.

Now, if Heavy food additives can double the buff. Nikii, you'll be eating your words. And I'll be prancing around singing "I was right and you were wrong"

What server did you say you were on Nikii?

Heavy Enhancements still require a whole bushel of scout-harvested materials, the toughest to come by in the game and hence the most expensive, especially quality ones. And they require a Master BE to run them for you on a regular basis, and a bunch of water and another factory run by the Chef too to turn it into a supplement. It won't be easy as just buying a crate off the bazaar and going to the factory, but if I want to make the best, I shall deal, I suppose.

2 more factory runs for each food, 3 more for each drink even for small glasses, 5 more for drinks in barrels...sigh. Maybe I'll just be a Jedi, they're not even supposed to have lots, hehe.

Oh, and in case someone wants to twist that, no, I am not dropping chef or crying nerf, I am merely commenting that the resources and factory runs are quite high on Heavily-Enhanced food.

And do any of you sell Angolan Febreeze Super-rise or something like that for 9k a crate? pst kthxbye

*Glad to have a MBE as a food friend*

You're right, it will be tough. But people who want it, will pay for it.

Negative. Thats precisely my concern about BE components. Two-fold actually.

1) BE components seem to have a pretty large effect on food. In fact it seems that BE components have more control over our food than we do. Which I really dont think should be the case. In addition to this, I worry that the buffs are so small that people will simply not eat food if it has not been BE enhanced. Ideally, (for me) people would come to my shop and see both versions (I sell it both ways) and if money was no object, they would buy the BE version because its better. But if the BE version was out, they would still want to buy their food and the non BE version would be acceptable enough to make the purchase happen. I worry that the BE components make it so much better that people will just not buy unless you have the BE version. In my view, this would be unbalanced.

2) The massive quantities of food that we go through (ok I think food use is gonna plummet to be honest after the first week or two, but for arguement sake we'll say it stays as it is now). If our food does in fact have to have the component to make someone *want* to buy it, there is no way BEs will be able to keep up with our demand. When you look at the ingredients on supplements and see milk, domesticated meat and other meats, you have to realize there is no way BEs are gonna be producing thousands of these a day. Its no fault of the BE, the ingredients simply make it an impossible feat.

As you can see, should #1 happen, #2 I feel safe to say *will* happen. If both happen, what happens to the chefs ability to sell a viable product?

*glad her alt is just a few boxes away from BE herself*

Is it wrong of me to be Master Chef/Master Artisan with a Master BE/Ranger alt to get milk and meat and enhance? If it is, I think I don't want to be revamped.

I mean right. Wow, I don't know how that slipped...

1) Do you want to be able to overlap buffs? With the system on TC, you can eat up to 100% full, and 15 minutes later eat something that has 33 filling. More than likely, the original buffs are still going. With a "filling lasts until buff wears off" system you can't do that.

Actually, as a combat template, I would have to say no....When I want a buff, I want the full effect now, not in ten minutes, or whenever the small "window" of super-buff status will present itself....

While this is anice perk, the actual "stacking" of the buffs would only occur in the small window between digestion, and fading....Its not a good enough reason (IMO) to warrent the hassle of timing new food consumption.....Especially if your in a fight....

More stuff to track means more database storage and accesses will be required, which the devs never seem to like.

Actually, you can tie the buff directly to the timer, much in the same way doc buffs work now....So instead of having two seperate data components (like now) you will simply add a small amount of data to one component....Suprisingly enough, this is easier on a data-base.....

Also, as far as instant effects go.....Yes, they should keep you filled until you use them.....However, they should be "good enough" that you will *want* to lose 30% ish of your buffing power....It should be a hard trade off to decide but it should be apealingfor me to forgoe a stat buff to instead take a skill buff.....

in some cases, (IMO) Simple is better, especially for people who do combat, as they need to concentrate more on the enviroment, and not on thier stats.....Its one reason why doc buffs are soooo popular.

Another thing: this should be the Wastril bread replacement (Novice Chef, 70-80xp, 35-40 easily harvestable resources). I can see the forum posts now "The ipacac grind is making me puke!"

And think of the role-playing possibilities: An intrepid band of rebels gather close to an Imperial outpost, and a few nervous combatants start losing their lunch (getting ready to re-buff for the upcoming fight).
