Thread: Where are the chefs ? Need a 2 minute cook-overview
900 per charge.
If there is a STACK of Tattoine Sunburns that has 5 in the stack, Chefs on Lowca are charging 4500 credits for it.
Trust me, if it was 900 a stack I would be buying this up like crazy.
1) Theres more than 2 chefs on lowca... i know about 5 that i see fairly regularly around theed alone(and i am one). Not that this fact is going to stop you from doing your chef 2nd account thing but just so you know.
2) Chef is not as lucrative as you may think. You will never convince me that the chef trade can make more money than missions. Never. Again I know this will not stop you so you'll just have to see for yourself.
All the above ideas are good, camps, backpacks, wastril bread and dyterium-pyro when you get chef. I personally thought aircake was quite worth my time. Exp from componenets and then the final product. Food factories are only good for components so youre in for a grind. Youve been warned, but hey you might enjoy it. Good luck ![]()

Well, I did the math. Once I get Mix II (which should be tomorrow, with luck) my Tat Sunburns will be around 550c....I've always sold everything @ cost....so there ya go.
Oh, and that's the flat rate....not per use. I've found that people don't look at how many uses a product has, so they buy the cheap ones...and don't buy the others.
The price of resources and how many are needed really should have no bearing at all on the price of food, because even one's that use alot of resources may not have good buffs and no one is going to look at it and say "well it is not as good as that other cheaper thing, but it used alot more resources so it must be worth it" The way I price my goods based on the buff, the duration and the number of uses. I have a very simple formular that comes up with what I think is a very fair price on goods.
(210 - duration)/6 + the buff
do that for every buff and subtract the penalties in the same manner
then divide the result by 4, that give me the cost per use, I then multiply that number by the number of uses. Also I don't do this for every individual item, but rather all the ones that have similar buff will sell for the same average price per buff.
If anyone thinks this is either under or over priced let me know.
900cr is in no way a ripoff for a Sunburn, just like 15k is not a ripoff for a small house.
These people need to make creds too, and being forced to do missions is no fun for us pure crafters.
People pay 100C per resource to Weaponsmiths for their items - you can't pay less than 9 credits per resource for Chef food? You get 10k an hour running silly missions! Here's a hint - if the price of an item comes even close to the price of the materials to make it on the bazaar, it is far too cheap.
I have no problem selling decked-out, fully experimented multi-shot Sunburns for 1500c. If you think it is too expensive, don't buy it. Chefs are here to sell to people who already own all the gear they need, to give them that final edge. You should be expected to pay for it.
Chefs - get together with your other chefs (as they appear to have less 'l33t d00dZ' than many other professions, and less people overall), and discuss prices. Undercutting to the point of zero profit is no fun for anyone.

I'd like to also point out, to get to mixology II and cooking IV(to make those stacks of 8), you need about 280.000 xp. Which is upwards of 140,000 resources(since wastril bread gives less than 2xp per resource). Getting all those resources at a minimal market price would be nearly 500K credits... is it really worth it to you? I spent my first couple of weeks as a chef running missions to make the money to keep myself afloat and moving through the profession at a good rate. In two weeks of selling sunburn, I dont think I've made back the money it took to get me to where I am yet.
I dont really care if you think that 400/use is a ripoff. As you've seen from this thread, most people charge more, and especially considerring that I give extra uses for buying in large bulk(when buying 25K worth or more at a time, the cost is 333 1/3cr per use), I'd consider that my prices are VERY reasonable.
I've got plenty of other customers, and not one of them has complained(many have complimented me, or thanked me for my efforts, or showed sympthy towards playing a profession with serious issues, while all you seem to do is complain about my prices), so I wish you good luck getting to where I am. I think you'll find that if you start trying to undercut demand will high, but profits so low you'll realize that it's not worth it compared to running missions. I'm doing this because I dont like running missions constantly. I like combat to be a challenge, to be a source of interesting loot and trophies, and possibly nice skill enhancers. I dont want to have to live off it. If you ever do decide you'd like to buy from me or grimmstead again, I'd appreciate an apology
[sarcasm]Oh, and in case you dont realize who I am, it's Kyris Iwo, your arch-nemesis super con-artist here.[/sarcasm]
J,
You are right, I don't think people realize its more hard work then they are asking for to make it that far.
I was referring to neither you or Grimmstead
Another chef on the server which I often buy from raised his prices to per use, rather than per stack, like you did.
Thats why I put in an order with you a few days ago Kyris. This other person pissed me off.
It takes 100 resources to make one of these, but if your charging per use, and you stack them, your getting ridiculous amounts of credits / resource.
Your charging 400 though, and he is charging 900, so I came to you.
Calm down man.
I'm making my own chef so me, and my guild, can get some different rates. If you think what you are charging is fine, more power to you. Between me and a few guildmates we can get this chef to where we need it pretty quick. Thats why I came here for advice.
I am very glad for this post, I was apparantly selling Sunburn for way too low a price. I have now doubled it and still can't keep it on the shelf. With Cooking IV, the stats are quite amazing and I guess I didn't realize how much the market would tolerate until reading this post. I was still in Wastril Bread mode, lol. /wink
