Its a renewable resource, armorsmiths will eventually become scarce as everyone get really good sets of armor, it will of course need more, but not a lot, same with weaponsmiths, weapons will degrade, but not fast enough, Food... it gets eaten, then everyone needs more.

armor and weaps degrade faster then you think.

Why I like chef:

1) I like crafting in general and chef is imho more casual then armor or weaponsmith because there are no rare resourcese that spawns every 3 months. You can start this prof at any time and have all the resources you need. They might not be the best but you won't have to pay 50cpu to buy a rare resource.

2) Chef's aren't all that common, I like it when people at the starport say: "Hey, first time I meet a master chef".

3) I like cooking in RL

1. I am a casual player and Chef allows me the flexibility I need and fits my play style well. I log in, manage harvestors, manage factories, stock my vendor and that's about it. If I want to do more, I can. If I am away from the game for 2-3 days, there is little impact.

2. I really enjoy the compliments I have gotten from the foodstuffs I make. My food has primarily gone to my guild, but word has slowly trickled out, people asking for crates of this and crates of that.

3. This forum! My Master Chef was my second account. My first account, I had worked my character toward chef but got bored with the grind. He's a Ranger now (might I recommend to those of you out there with 2 accounts to get one...come in REAL handy in locating meat and I have been to many of the different forums in this game. This forum is the most friendly, helpful forum I have seen.

I've been a Master Chef since August but haven't really posted much, the whole forum thing moved too quickly for my tastes and tended to feel a little scary to jump in to. I can't think of a better thread to start with than this one, though, so here goes!

1. I love to cook in real life and enjoy giving food to my friends even more. A good deal of what I cook in game and outis given to my friends as little gifts to brighten their days. While I don't always enjoy the lack of available fruit on Eclipse and have never enjoyed the various bugs keeping me from cooking for function, the form of the profession has usually made up for that, for me at least.

2. The aesthetics of food in a Star Wars game can really not be overestimated. The lack of blue milk, well, player-made at least, is still a source of frustration for many people, and with the exception of a Deneelian Fizz Pudding, all of the milk that I get either goes towards a Blue Milk or my BE friends. Coming to a party with a crate full of Veronian Berry Wine or catering a wedding with 400 guests makes me a hero in so many more ways than I could ever be by picking up a gun or a sword.

3. The friends that I have made through simple gestureslike showing up to a talent competition with cookies and Sunburns for all the dancers and musicians are some of the dearest people to me, and without being a Chef, I may not have even had that opportunity. I even was made Miss Congeniality at one of the big pageants on Eclipse, which was really cool!

4. After training many chefs for holos and otherwise, I pretty much have my speech down when they ask, "Is it worth it?" I just tell them there are a lot easier ways of making money if that's what you're after, but if you have patience and a little bit of a sense of humor, there's nothing else like it in the galaxy. =) And yes, if the holochefs gave us one thing, it's a dearth of the old "OMG TEHRE R CHEFS IN TIHS GAAME?1?!!!1!" disease that afflicted so many shuttleports over the summer, hehe.

5. We have had our share of bugs and our share of feeling unattended (except for by SirVimes, who has been a fountain of hope for a lot of us when we've needed it ) but I think overall, those of us who have stuck with it have found a lot of the core of being a Chef beyond just "Harvestor, Hopper, Vendor, Harvestor, Hopper, Vendor" : To feed, to please, and to get just a little recognition sometimes for the hard work we put in every day!

That wasn't so bad, and I hope someone enjoyed reading that, or at least will help an old Chef and new forumer feel a little welcome! =)

1. I enjoy seeking out the best resources and watching the quality of my foods improve, also experimenting with different resources to see how the end product will turn out.

2. I love customers telling me it's the best quality food they have seen or that it allowed them to kill bigger beasties or it saved their lives on occasion.

3. I enjoy being a class that isn't the most popular and there are no serious chef attempts to run me out of business on my server, or under cutting, etc. There was one cut throat person awhile back, but he didn't make it past the Killer Food Bug Phase. For the most part, the chef community is helpful and enjoy working together.

4. I mostly enjoy the struggle of filling all the orders I receive, even though, I have to admit, some days I have to logoff and take a break as it's too overwhelming.

5. I enjoy the RP opportunities chef has to offer, renaming foods for parties, etc. I have made SO many friends this way, lol.

things I like about being a chef:

1. this forum...often times more entertaining than the game

2. chefs don't have the same pricing problems as the other professions...meaning we don't all hate each other (we just pick on nikii).

3. I enjoy hunting things for my own meat, and being able to always have rare things like ggp, vercuppti, and fishak really help.

4. with food being in such high demand by the "uber l33t" fighters...its easy to get enough credits if you spend the time to make quality products.

5. I don't think I know of any other profession that has to "hide" their shops just to keep up with demand...

1. I like being a chef because I get to own a cantina, i get to help out the general population with good food and drink.

2. I dont play that much really and being a chef allows me to just log on for a bit and check the factories, talk a bit and then log out if I want while still running my business.

3. If im bored i can always stand behind my bar and /emote spits on a glass and rubs it with a cloth

4.Since i have a cantina im a one stop "party" monster i hold big ones at least once a month. love em!

5.I get to be evvvvillll and no one really takes me seriously

Sometimes I like to do something different, stand out from the crowd. It gives me an opportunity to find something that no one else may have thought of.

For crafting professions Chef does that.

That's why I want to see some of the sweet loot components for food. Those will be fun to find. Once I get tired of figuring out the new food after the revamp, I can go hunting.

I agree with everything the other chefs have said with regards to why I love being a chef. Except that I love combat also. There is just nothing quite like the feeling you get when you hang your backside out there taking on some challenge and adventure.

Being an elite combat, I love buffs and there is nothing so convenient as having my own buffs and using them when i need. I aspire to reach the true essence of "Iron Chef" all decked out in my ubese armour with chef hat on top and my wicked sharp Trandosian claws glistening in the sun just before ripping into the belly of some great beast (which will be cooked by me for supper to feed all my friends).

I love being a chef because I love that I can help myself, my friends, and my customers enjoy the game more and often my work saves lifes.

I enjoy the respect that people give me. I enjoy the special place i have in the community. I enjoy the tells people give me when one of my products just saved thier backside and they really appreciate it. I get invited to almost every party in the galaxy it seems and get lots of rp opportunities. It even seems that the girls really like chefs. Ienjoy this and so many other things about it.

Its even been a good business and I've made a ton of money at it, but thats not the important thing to me. I enjoy taking care of my customers need, giving them as much personal attention as i can and getting to know them, and as and as long as i do that, money comes because they want to take care of me in return. I think thats the main reason i've been successful, in fact, because people don't just see me as a vendor machine filler, but as a realpart of the community who cares to help them.
