Thread: New novice chef : Not getting XP for -anything-
Guys, check your exp total and relog, see if the exp that you were probably getting just wasn't being displayed properly.
My alt ground up to Tailor a few days ago to make Trim, and I noticed I wasn;t getting Tailor exp after I trained.
When I relogged, I had over 1k of tailor exp from the items I had already tried (but did not show up because of a *display* bug).
So please, before you start screaming about and exp bug, do a few tests to make sure its not the one several people have mentioned already.

Hold up...You're making a big assumption, eh?
The XP did NOT reappear on relog. I've done tests, I've done a system scan, I've even run Norton Utils...It's not on my end.
I think we're posting because some of us are not getting the quick fix you're pointing out. Something is quirky and it's a problem.
Actually, I need to concur, this is a major issue. XP is spotty.
I do not get XP for almost anything. I've been playing the game since beta, have been a MBE since November, and am pretty well-versed on med/food crafting. I'm actually not getting any general crafting XP either, so in fact there is a complete void of XP about 80% of the time.
I've been a chef for about a week. I've accumulated a total of 680 chef XP regardless of what I craft...This includes multicomponent (ie, Jawa Beer) and chef-specific foods (such as alcohol). I've used a general crafting tool, food/chem crafting tool, in front of (and not in front of) good crafting stations.
Please, please have the devs look into this ![]()

Maybe if you tried posting that you had done that already, I wouldn't have made that suggestion. I am not a mind reader.
What I did see is several people complaning about the bug *I* mentioned, just amking sure people are checking it right.
Jeez last time I try to help.

Cyene, let's call it a draw...I certainly had no intention of offending you. I'm just so used to the flame machine on the boards that I just assumed your comments were derogatory. I was mistaken, and for that I offer you a public apology
. It's one of the hard things about the written word: nonverbal communication is absent. I _DO_ appreciate your help. Yours and others here in the chef profession.
You are correct about that bug--and I wish to heck that I was lucky enough to see the XP resume when I logged in. No such luck thus far.
Nevertheless, the pervasiveness of others' experiences says that something is definitely buggy. I'm not here to grind, but I can't stand the idea of interminably being stuck at novice
.
I'm in the same position. made novice chef day before yesterday. tried multiple crafts of multiple items, and got no xp.
so far, the only thing i've found that's granting xp is alcohol (every time). Alcohol is a novice chef item; i'm now thinking that everything else i was crafting was in the artisan tree. Have you tried alcohol?
I'm almost to desserts 1. once i get there, i'll try pastebread--i have a feeling it will grant normal xp.
