I've been a chef since day one. Sat in the local pub making Tatooine Sunburns for everyone when the game started. Factories and schems would only spit out 100 items. People having to drop the food/drink on the floor, target it and type /eat. That was a fun bug to explain to the customers. Chef's a great profession and has had some great updates. Sure.. artisan foods sell well.. but so does most of the Chef foods too!
You could always set them to 1000, you just had to type the extra zero in manually. The greatest bug was where factories wouldn't pull components from crates for the first few months. You couldnt make a large crated run because you had to pull every component from it's factory crate and put it individually in the input hopper. Not fun!
Another not fun one was where if you had a doc buff stacked with a chef food, your health would keep going down until you got incapped once the chef food ran out.
I still have my 27-charge Tatooine Sunburns! muahaha

do think i really like the way they shafted chef? but hey they wont fix it they would rather break the stacking every publish/hotfix
So you are saying you like it this way?
Chef needs major fixing, I want it to happen, but it just wont until at least next year. Many things are broken with respect to crafting, the dev team isn't paying much attention to them, or fixing them and breaking new ones in the process.

There are too many bugged foods, and chef foods need some balancing in comparison to artisan foods.
I have made my 12 pt. chef, a 14 pt. artisan but the problem must be fixed. Chef is not really that useful a skill to have at the moment.
I am going to keep bumping this thread endlessly, and anyone who agrees should help.
Please fix the chef profession.
If its so broken drop it or respec and give us some peace instead of moaning.
Yes there are a fe bugged foods. This is unfortunate but doesn't seem to hinder sales. Yes we've had the bug for barrels since day 1 and no i hasn't hindered us too much. Yes I am a 12pt Chef and 14pt Artisan and I somehow manage to make Chef quite useful. Maybe you should quit as it seems you're either doing somethign wrong or don't enjoy it. My food is in constant demand, I ahve trouble keeping up with my vendors, i am well respected on my server and I make a tidy profit. I honestly can't see why you're complaining!!! Go be an AS or a Tailor and have a bug that pretty much stops you crafting and then come back here and post about how bad chef is.
Tell the truth, chef is not in a very bad way at all in comparison to many crafts. Yes we could do with some love from the Dev's and yes we could do with soem new foods but really we're not nearly as badly off as you make out.

This post wasn't intended for you to come in a tell me to quit. Go flame somewhere else. Someone has to stand up for this profession and be a leader because it appears many people will just take it as is. I for one would like to see things fixed and not just bend over and take it like you choose to. Sorry for not being part of the herd, and just following along.

And you'e the leader for Chef? rofl!!!
I wasn't intending to flame and possibly I should have been more constructive in my arguement so I shall start again.
- I agree that there are things that are bugged and have been for some time but these are not preventing Chefs from either crafting or making a profit. I really would suggest you speak to an experienced AS/Tailor about real bugs that are so problematic that it has prevented them from crafting or turning a profit.
- Chef is still very useful. BoH, Mando Wine if you're lucky enough to have a schematic for it, Pikatta Pie, are just a few of the useful foods we make. I can only speak for my server, but these are very much in demand and non more so than by PvPers who demand only the best and are willing to pay the best.
- Yes Chef could do with some muchneeded love from the Dev's but in reality, so do all the crafting proffessions. All of them have bugged. Is this right? No. Will a post telling everyone how useless the profession is going to change things? No. We could do with new foods.
- I have noticed a lot of new Chefs on my server. They recognise the profitability of Chef and the fact that it is one of the least bugged professions out there. There are very few looted/reward foods which rival our own which WS has a problem with. We do not have to make things by hand like SW. We haven't had Chef Tissues bugged like Tailor (for several publishes I might add).
If you want to be a "Leader" for Chef than I suggest you look at your initial post and assess just how constructive it is to the community as a whole. Stating that it is "useless" is well....useless. You have made statements and not backed them up and you really must look at the other crating professions before you complain.
In a game full of bugs and with developers who have put their efforts into area's we would have preferred to have come a distant second to fixing what is actually wrong first, we should be grateful that Chef isn't bugged worse. I do not mean that we should be happy with this or just accept it, but in as much as my previous post was possibly not the most helpful, nor has yours been.
I am interested to know, just how ypu intend to lead the Chef community and what your ideas are for a possible revamp, additional food and how the Dev's can make Chef useful to the community again.
I completely agree that there are problems with the profession, but I see two things as being overlooked whenever this argument comes up:
1) I went away for a year and came back and saw MANY of the suggestions people came up with years ago implemented. I am tickled to death that foods don't just modify the HAM stuff, but instead can add actual abilities (or whatever they're called). My personal favorite of the week is Veghash, so that I can harvest more materials. Back in my day, this was only a suggestion, a pipe dream. But players came up with it and they implemented it! Being a dev seems to be a thankless job, but I would like to say THANK YOU for implementing many of the suggestions.
2) Sony is a corporation. I work for a corporation, and I will tell you how the formula works. If cost for change >= benefit for change, said change will not occur. There are bugs that I /bugged back in beta that haven't been fixed yet. Why? Because hunting down the line of code would cost more money than the benefit of pleasing the players and fixing it. Now, practically, what does that mean? Saying "such and such is broke" isn't going to do you any good. That is because they will have to pay someone to weed out the real complaints, come up with possible solutions, and implement it. But saying, "This is broken and this is the way to fix it" will. A solution already exists, so you can be taken seriously. How many complaints a day do you think they get? Constructive
Yes, there are problems, but you have to keep a little perspective and think through it rationally. "WHY aren't they listening to us?" should really be contemplated, rather than thrown out there in a sobby voice.
agree 100% ..
This prof isnt nearly as fun... As weve clearly read in this thread , a great number of chefs dont care as long as they sell product ..I think that is so lame ... Why not IMPROVE Chef ....
They need to take a look at a great number of things in this prof ..and the sooner people start ASKING for that ..the sooner it will happen .

There you go. All fixed. I wrote it yesterday when I was a little more irritated about the issue.
