I've beena chef on Radiant for a long time too. My business has never been through the roof, but it usually enough to keep me busy.
I was just happy that someone actually bought the three stacks of dweezel I made like 40 years ago when I was making a test of every new food from the first chef revamp. This was like two days ago lol.
Oh and someone bought a aurillian fruit from me, and they're still bugged. Don't ask me why.
My prices have always been very low since I price everything to resources used in each schem -> CPU. Its actually lower than what the new chefs are spamming most of the time. I can't blame them for being a chef, its a lot of fun even though a ton of our foods are buggy or useless. But I kind of doubt they'll stay chefs for that long. I've seen alot of chefs come and go, looking for an easy way to make money. Personally, I think the biggest market is in Shipwright now. But whatever.
My business is consistently slow and I like it that way. I'm not raking in creds hand over fist but I don't see the appeal of making a ton of money at the cost of gougingprices.
Yesterday this guy stopped me in a starport because he wanted to sell me milk. So I ask what the oq is. He says like 500. So I say how much do you have? And he says not much. *roll eyes*
Yeah, 30 units of milk is REALLY going to make you rich.
Both of you guys are top of the line chefs, you don't have anything to worry about. And I agree, its fun using different additives rather than just the same BSNs. I made a pretty big Parwan Nutricake w/ Med Flavor run awhile ago and it sold Very quickly. Fun stuff. Now if only I could get my hands on one of those creature recyclers.

24 factories and ready to add 5 more... lol
Hah, try 10 food factories.....it's killing me but don't feel like reorganizing my lots to get more. Guess it would be easier to add about 10 more. Now that I think about it, it would actually give me more time to do other things.......Off to an architect I go.
Guess we turned this into the Radiant Chef forum, eh? lol

200k-250k really is too expensive. If I didn't charge 125k, one or two people would walk in and buy out all my stock and leave everyone high and dry. They still do from time to time

Everyday I see several new threads in the Trade Forums heralding the newest chef on Radiant. ButI am not worried because I have my loyal customers and I keep a well stocked vendor with over 25 items to choose from currently. They come and go once they make a little jingle in their pockets and decide it is too much work to continue, but man you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a new vendor. There are really only a couple of chefs on this server that understand what chef is all about and the reasoning behind the prices we charge. This new crowd is coming in with 75k crates andthey will soon learn for themselves what it means to try and keep a vendor stocked at those prices. I guess everyone's doctor alt is now a chef or artisan.
How is your server?
yeah, chimaera is recently flooded too.
I also agree that the guys pricing things cheaply will either tire of the constant crafting of the same foods and quit, or will increase prices.
Im prepared to sit it out.
Funny you should mention 75k for some foods.. that how much my artisan foods go for. I am neither a new chef or a respected one. Yes I do get people buying out and reselling food on ocassion, Pre-CU and post-CU. I just ban them and restock, I have a huge supply of resources. And before you ask why ban, a) because I do not want my products to be assosiated with high prices b) it leaves my vendors empty c) does not give me time to plan ahead and make additives.
I am not out to cut into anyone's profit margin, I base my prices on what the additives and resources cost me in time and money to get. I fully belive in setting prices at what you think is fair and not what everyone else is charging.
There does seem to be a large influx of new chef on Ahazi. Many spamming on coronet and Theed, I tend to keep a close eye on food value and prices to know where I stand and have noticed a large amount new chefs.
"These guys/gals with crates for 75K are crazy. They will come and go. Respec nailed us as all these folks thought chef was the grand all way to make money so they respec'd to it. Give it a month or two and will see how many of them survive."
Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, but I actually take offense to this
I played chef since before you even registered. I played chef back when the max timer on a buff was 10 minutes and the buffs were completely and utterly useless. I played chef BEFORE the first revamp.
Why do I charge less than 75k for a crate of Blob Candy? Because it's an artisan food that takes 5 fruit and a carbosyrup. Even with nutrients, I don't see the purpose of selling any higher than that. The nutrients per crate don't usually cost me more than 30k... the fruit used is trivial, because I harvest it myself.
I just feel that anything over 100k on Blob Candy is price gauging and exploitation of customers on your server. If it sells for that, more power to you... but when your customers find out that you've been charging 25-100k over the "fair" price, then you're in for a real treat.
