Thread: Radiant Overrun With New Chefs : How's your server?
But the future is looking good there is a fair few new chefs coming through so it could be getting interesting.

Everyday I see several new threads in the Trade Forums heralding the newest chef on Radiant. ButI am not worried because I have my loyal customers and I keep a well stocked vendor with over 25 items to choose from currently. They come and go once they make a little jingle in their pockets and decide it is too much work to continue, but man you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a new vendor. There are really only a couple of chefs on this server that understand what chef is all about and the reasoning behind the prices we charge. This new crowd is coming in with 75k crates andthey will soon learn for themselves what it means to try and keep a vendor stocked at those prices. I guess everyone's doctor alt is now a chef or artisan.
How is your server?
lol yeah and I thought your prices were low
Flurry is alright, I haven't heard of any new bigtime chefs since the CU, well, save for Avenir I guess, but even then ![]()
I've started to gradually raise my prices, because I too was starting to run out of stock too quickly... while it feels good to have business, it feels even worse knowing you can't come home and play JTL or hunt and work on pistoleer when you're doing factory runs all night.
My sales seem to really hit on the weekends and then become nonexistant during the week.

You are in the biggest and most visited malls on Radiant...you should be charging more
You are definately the main one I was talking about who understands chef and if it is any indication as to my level of respect for your crafting abilities, I have several of your foods on my wall next to my crafting station as guides when I make mine. My overall sales have decreased a little but are picking up again since I started making hard-to-get items and experimenting on different stats on the product.I will definately weather the storm of chefs hitting Radiant now and might even become a better crafter because of it.
Oh Sling, I am devistated! I hope I get the "understands chef" designation also on Radiant? j/k ![]()
These guys/gals with crates for 75K are crazy. They will come and go. Respec nailed us as all these folks thought chef was the grand all way to make money so they respec'd to it. Give it a month or two and will see how many of them survive.
You and Stew do a great job of keeping a well stocked vendor with lots of choices. I for one have gone to stocking a few items but mainly doing custom work for a set group of regular customers. I would rather make 40 crates of something for a guild and sell it in one lump than to try and keep a vendor stocked. If cash gets tight I can always stock up and do some advertising. I think the key is with all 3 of us (if I can group myself with you two) is that we make good stuff. We each made a point to get and stock the best resources we could to make the best food possible. So many of the new respec chef's have their 12pts but don't understand that part yet (in my opinion from talking with some of them). They also don't understand the value of many items we use in our schems. A noob respec chef contacted me the other day to buy some meat from me, my best "chef meat". And he was willing to go as high as 5 cpu! LOL For those of you not on Radiant our meat runs 30 cpu and up to 50 cpu for really good stuff. I had a good laugh on that one.
I don't mind what I call "good" competition when it comes to chef food. I consider you and Stew good competition. Heck, I send customers your way when they are looking for a food I don't stock or one I don't want to mess with making! These guys that are just about low pricing......they are "bad" competition because then folks are asking why I am charging 150K for a crate of food they noticed advertised at the starport for 75K. Ugh.

heh you know better than that Digger... I always looked up to you, you're one of the earliest chefs I can remember on our server... You could easily be the top chef on the server if you wanted to be, but you prefer the less-work approach lol... Heck we should all 3 go into business and have a monopoly and wipe out these little guys... mwahahahahahaa Seriously tho, if these 75k/crate chefs actually stick it out they'll have to raise their prices IMO... there's no way I'd stay sane stocking a vendor for 75k a crate... It's bad enough as it is... 24 factories and ready to add 5 more... lol

Thanks Stew! Your right, the 3 of us teamed up would make a powerful chef force. As for the "less work approach" your right. I found that I love crafting, but not constantly after playing this game for 2 yrs and being a crafter that whole time. Plus I have my 6 yr old son playing with me now and he would prefer to go out doing combat with my combat guy than standing watching me craft (for some crazy reason!). So he and I run missions together now and I spend much more time doing combat oriented things (like killing krayt's). It's funny.....post CU he and I have looted 29 pearls that seem to be averaging about 750K per....which is over 20 million income, plus all the xp, meat, etc.. from hunting. So income is still coming in just from other avenues.

Tho it's been fun lately, making food/drink with the Filling and Flavor additives... nice to have something different available... seems like people really like em too...
LOL. You are so right Stew. I love all your choices. It's why I left your mall shop with over 10 crates of your food a couple of weeks ago! ha ha! I am not proud. I would rather let you make some of those items than mess with it myself. I figure I still have over 50 million units of top quality flora in storage...I can always jump back in as a major player someday. For now income is good and my play time is more fun having my 6 yr old by my side (even when he gets too close to that Ancient and gets dead!!). ![]()
Just make sure you and Sling don't leave chef anytime soon....not sure I could handle all the /tells or emails!! ![]()
I've beena chef on Radiant for a long time too. My business has never been through the roof, but it usually enough to keep me busy.
I was just happy that someone actually bought the three stacks of dweezel I made like 40 years ago when I was making a test of every new food from the first chef revamp. This was like two days ago lol.
Oh and someone bought a aurillian fruit from me, and they're still bugged. Don't ask me why.
My prices have always been very low since I price everything to resources used in each schem -> CPU. Its actually lower than what the new chefs are spamming most of the time. I can't blame them for being a chef, its a lot of fun even though a ton of our foods are buggy or useless. But I kind of doubt they'll stay chefs for that long. I've seen alot of chefs come and go, looking for an easy way to make money. Personally, I think the biggest market is in Shipwright now. But whatever.
My business is consistently slow and I like it that way. I'm not raking in creds hand over fist but I don't see the appeal of making a ton of money at the cost of gougingprices.
Yesterday this guy stopped me in a starport because he wanted to sell me milk. So I ask what the oq is. He says like 500. So I say how much do you have? And he says not much. *roll eyes*
Yeah, 30 units of milk is REALLY going to make you rich.
Both of you guys are top of the line chefs, you don't have anything to worry about. And I agree, its fun using different additives rather than just the same BSNs. I made a pretty big Parwan Nutricake w/ Med Flavor run awhile ago and it sold Very quickly. Fun stuff. Now if only I could get my hands on one of those creature recyclers. ![]()
zdiggerz.......You know it goes without saying that you are another. I was playingon my main character (although seems like Slingblade is the main now) and popped some vasarian brandy made from none other than you. I bought up a ton of your foods a while back and still use them all the time. Stay crafting the way you are, hehe, I hate special orders because I don't have time for them.If someone asks for something special I make a full run and put it on the vendor by crates just like everything else to cut out all the running around to deliver.
