I'm with Vishna. WHEN are they going to come and talk with US about it!? If at this point all they have is a bunch of ideas on paper how about coming HERE and getting a discussion going about it like this....

"How would you feel about fixing the FILLING feature on Chef foods and drinks so that YOU can control how much a customer is able to eat it before being full?"

....In that format it's sort of like a disscussion poll. I will sparks some negative people but it will also spark ideas and things that may improve it overall.

  • All new HAM cost system for combat - Special moves take from the max value, but regenerate much, much faster. The end result is that HAM spent on special moves regenerates MUCH faster than damage, so it should make combat more dynamic.

  • Performance buffs now modify the players base attribute not their current max attribute.

  • The new HAM system is probably a large part also of why they aren't doing Chefs right now (besides lack of time, working on the new publish etc) anyway - even before they 'revamp' Chef, I'm wondering what exact impact this is going to have on us and our buffs. Carbineers are looking forward to this from what I understand because the ham costs on their specials are killer. If the performance buffs now modify the base attribute, what's this mean for stacking (of doctor buffs etc)?

The thing that bothers me is if they're making special moves regenerate faster (based on what??), how are buffing secondaries (like your regen stat) going to work?

They'll still regen the damage you lose from battle damage i.e. being shot. Supposedly, when you do a special move now it takes it away from your total HAM pools, and doesn't deduct it as damage. So, in a way, our regens will actually be better because they'll be repairing true damage, not damage you do to yourself because you shot a gun... which was retarded in my opinion.

hrmm so Im confoozled... guess ill figure it out once we can play. You are saying that specials no longer effect the HAM? or that they still do but they dont regen by stamina etc? So whereas now I may use sunburns all day so I can regen from spamming my specials, that will be a thing of the past? I only need to buff regen if Im getting hit? *walks around in a daze*

    Okay... here we go....

Here is your normal Health bar 1000/1000

Okay, based on what I know and what they patch sounds like this is what will happen...

You shoot your weapon and lose from your MAX Health. Say your Health is 1000 and your special move cost 50. You are now down to 950 MAX health with NO damage. This is what is would look like950/950

Okay, now you're down to MAX 950 Health and you take damage, 100 damage. You'll go down to 850, but you'll still have 950 MAX Health. 850/950

Okay, so you're now at 850/950. You use another special that takes off 50 points. It would then cut your MAX health down to 900, with no more damage. Should look like this = 850/900.

With the supposedly fast regen of the special cost deduction, my figures are obviously wrong. In the step I provided where you take damage, it may look more like 850/970 due to MAX values regerating, but I left out the regen for simplicity sake. I guess we'll have to wait until we log in to see if I'm right...

I don't think specials will regenby any food we make, but the DAMAGE we take in battle will still be affected by the regen rates of our food... I'm guessing now that the Strength, Quickness, and Focus buffs will determine how much MAX HAMs we have deducted from us still.

Chefs are hardly basic though. And that's the trouble. We're a small class and atm since our buffs aren't actually doing detrimental things to other people (unlike when the stat bug was in), it's not likely we'd become a top priority. That they say they will do anything at all - and have even said there's going to be a revamp is heartening, or should be. I'm as impatient as the next person but I don't want to see them suddenly "balance" Chef without either our input or taking enough time to iron out possible bugs. So I have to agree with Syke. We've already been through a number of bugs and survived but the last one was very close to being a true Chef killer - we don't need more like that.

As to this company doing things right... all I can say is in my opinion they're doing a lot better than OSI has ever done. At the very least SOE actually *has* a replacement policy for items, unlike other game companies.

    Mousekin,

I wasn't speaking about chef, but rather all the professions. Chefs have some problem yes, but there are some other classes that have some serious problems. It is inexcusable to have a game out this long and put focus on cities, mounts, speeders and then talk about a several month long process to change combat when the most important thing to any game isn't even working right.

Maybe Sony is doing better than OSI was doing 9 years ago, which I don't think they are, but what does that matter? Cities and mounts are still plagued with all sorts of bugs and really hurt the game more than they helped. Look at how everyone half heartedly jokes about patch day bugs destroying their profession. We all giggle about it, butunder all the laughs we know it will happen to someone and just pray it isn't us.

I just think they are going about resolving issues in a completely backward mentality.

I'd rather have it done right, than right away. Better to remain functional now and enjoy improvement later than receive changes and end up broken due to impatience.

I agree completely. With only one broken undownloadable schematic, I think Chefs are working almost 100%.

Now, buffs are a whole other issue...

I'm with ya. Its only about the milk. I think the Chef profession has come aloooong way since the 1use crates, broken food stacks and buff incaps/broken. I love this profession now and wish they'd only add cows so we can harvest milk. I love this profession! I've been here since the start and have no plans on dropping the profession whatsoever.
