Thread: you can drop chef now..... thunderhearts response
this was thunderhearts response to one of my post, i pretty much sopied all of the compiled issues for all of us chefs ( the ones that we all agree on ) and begged for help and this is what i got.
Although i truely believe thunderheart does what he can for us players and he is just a messenger, i thank him for his efforts, but the efforts of the men above him are not good enough for me, you should not be pussing for more content when the classes don't even work, especially problems as old as the chef class..... here it is...
"The best I can do ATM is tell you that the chef is getting a revamp. I wish I could tell you when but with all of the changes lately along with Player Cities and vehicles getting wrapped up, I just don't have that information yet, but everyone on the team is working hard to make everything right.
As soon as I can tell ya, I will...

So its still gonna be awhile for us to actually acheive results. As you can see, this discussion was in General Discussion forums btw......
The worst part about that thread is that the first non-dev/chef hijaked it into a badge thread, and TH soon followed ![]()
I can't think that's a good sign.
They are devs. That means they naturally have the attention span of a juvenile fruit fly on a sugar high.
I'm fine with food the way it is right now. I sell more than I can make and my cantina is almost always full and lively. It's an easy life. The only thing is I wish there was something worth making below FoodType IV in each of the trees.

How many more months after the launch of a game should one expect to see the basic building blocks ofa game fixed? I haven't seen this company do many things right, mounts and cities being two great examples of how not to do something and they had enough time for that.
Sorry syke, I just cannot agree with your viewpoint.
Im with Syke... we can at least do what we are supposed to do now. We can use factories, we dont kill people with food and we can eat a whole stack of food. I wouldnt trade that for yet another half-baked (har har) chef work over. That would just drop us right back to the beginning...only this time they'd likely go to all the other professions before us since they already "revamped" us.
It doesnt really matter if we want our cake now or not. We arent getting it now. So I guess your options are sit back and hope that they do something right fora change or join the first poster and drop chef. *shrug* talking about it really isnt gonna change anything cause the devs are gonna do whatever they feel like as usual anyway.

Chefs are hardly basic though. And that's the trouble. We're a small class and atm since our buffs aren't actually doing detrimental things to other people (unlike when the stat bug was in), it's not likely we'd become a top priority. That they say they will do anything at all - and have even said there's going to be a revamp is heartening, or should be. I'm as impatient as the next person but I don't want to see them suddenly "balance" Chef without either our input or taking enough time to iron out possible bugs. So I have to agree with Syke. We've already been through a number of bugs and survived but the last one was very close to being a true Chef killer - we don't need more like that.
As to this company doing things right... all I can say is in my opinion they're doing a lot better than OSI has ever done. At the very least SOE actually *has* a replacement policy for items, unlike other game companies.
/agree Syke
If you don't want to wait for the revamp, drop chef and pick it back up later, it'll be entirely different then!
Maybe you misinterpreted TH's response. Maybe hes saying You can drop chef now, meaning nobody is forcing you to play a unbalanced buffing class. The tricky thing about message boards is that its hard to interpret text like that which could have multiples meanings depending on your perspective. Someone thats fed up with waiting will obviously read that as a slam on us. While someone that is having fun as it is now, but realizes changes need to be donecould interpret it differently. Thats my 2 cents ![]()
I don't see why we should drop chef just because Thunderheart said that chef is being revamped. We've known that for a month now and we've also known that the revamp wouldn't be instant, so saying we should drop chef, just because Thunderheart can't say anything other than, "Chef is being revamped," is a little overboard in my opinion.
I agree that we can not have another fiasco like the stat bug that our food gave... I nearly went under due to that nasty bug, and if the revamp is done too hastily, I'm afraid it may be the end of chef as we know it if there is another bug like that one...

I gotta disagree with you there. Behind fixing cities and getting vehicles out, we are a high priority. The reason being is that our buffs will be affecting all the other professions, thereby by improving what we can do, they will be improving what all the other professions can do.
I don't see anything wrong with what Thunderheart wrote. He's just passing on the info that chef is going to be revamped, and that they don't have a firm due date for it yet.
Software is a work in progress and deadlines and priorities change. He maybe avoiding giving you a firm date on something, because that date may change like so many others do. I seem to remember someone else complaining when he gave us a date and then the devs didn't deliver. So ppl seem to just whine no matter what he does. He can't win. /comfort TH
I think that chef is working well enough that I can make a good living at it. I have to work hard to get all the ingredients and keep up with orders, but it's very rewarding.
You young chefs have it easy
-- why in my day, we only had small floral harvesters, and most of us didn't even have those, had to kneel all day sampling some resource. And no mounts either, we had to walk (usually in the deep snow and sleet) to get to them. And everything had to be made by hand, we didn't have these fancy shmancy "factories" that did all the work for us.
You younguns got it easy. When the revamp happens it'll be even cushier and nicer for ya, so quitcher bitchin' ..... and mind your elders ![]()
The only thing that pissess me off isnt that the chef changes themselves arnt out yet (although that would be nice) its that we have NO IDEA AT ALL what they are doing.
They havnt discussed any changes with us, havnt even given us a general direction they might be going with our changes. I dont want it done NOW i just want a little hope, a little something i can look forward to.
