On Starsider, I'm paying 20-25k for crates of medium. Each server's economy is different so it's really hard to know what a reasonable price is.

As long as you're making a profit AND the BE you buy from makes a profit, I'd say ... an unprofitable business doesn't last.

I pay between 1.5 and 2.2 mill per run of 40 crates (+87 BSN).

BEs are very hard to find on Ahazi and 40-50k per crate is the norm for +85-86 BSNs.

Only thing I can suggest other than actually Grinding BE is to find a BE that is willing to make you schematics for about 200k each and collect your own resources for the Additives you use, this is much cheaper but Good Meat is not easy to come buy.

Try talking to Hitari he seems to be a good up and coming BE on Ahazi

Prices will change depending on the quality of the tissue. Whenever a new chef asks what they should get, I always recommend they don't buy the really high 86+ ones from me if they aren't a 12-point chef. In the long run, IMO, they'll do better by buying 83-85s and saving the extra for the tapes. It's not like a 10-point chef using 87s can compete with a 12-point chef using 85s either.

Recent spawns made Farstar quite happy about BE additives quality. First we has some fungus OQ,PE and F> 900 then a pretty good meat in corellian naffs. If last summer it was a continous effort to not produce BN under 83 now it's a month since BN 86 is the lowest I produce so naturally prices went somewhat down but this in the context of general inflation.

For the first time since server went up I could have BN 89 and IN 119, it's not a regular production of course but I loved it for the record. Instead 88 and 118 are not so rare anymore also. As price I am extremely adaptive. When 88 and 118 just appeared of course they went up to 2.5 mil a full run, but now as the good meat continued spawning and it's not such a pain to have it the full run on these went back down to 2 mil. 87-117 are then low to 1.7, 86-117 1.6mil a run, and of course 85 - 115 probabbly lower but it would be a shame to make them anymore as long as we have resources for so much better.

If a good Dathomir spawn would break the rangers prices as well as the increase in harvest we own to the new bonuses probably we'll come back to the prices additives had during the summer, that's 1.2 - 1.3 mil a full run.

I think non-BE food does have its place, but I am a bit confused by your post. What does "400 percent less" mean? I mean 100% less would be zero, so I think there is a misunderstanding here.

The other thing I am confused about is "25 percent less" stats. The lowest nutrition additives I have actually seen for sale were Light additives (Micronutrients) that were 50s. That is a 50% increase in stats.

In fact "25 percent" is actually impossible since the lowest a nutrition additive can get would be 30, meaning 30%. ANd that assumes that all stats of all ingredients were ONE. LOL. Now with flavor and filling additives you can get under 25% very easily, but these are very rarely used compared to nutrition additives. In either case, 25% is hardly the norm.

On average most Chefs across the galaxy use 55/85/115 or better additives. That means their food is 55 -115% MORE powerful than without the additive.

So since you have posted this in several threads here, it might help if you could explain where you get "400 percent less" cost and "25 percent less" stats. These dont seem to be possible. Dont get me wrong, I think that trying to go the non-BE route is a neat thing to try. Definitely would simplify your crafting process. But you have posted this exact same quote in two different threads now and it is confusing me. Since there are several new chefs that read this board, I want them to have a clear picture of what BE vs non-BE foods are like.

BE additives add a tremendous amount of power to our food....far more than 25%. And even with expensive additives (60k a crate) and inexpensive brandy (150k) you can still make a profit well over a million credits profit for the 20 crates you can make off a schematic. AdditivesDO add to the cost, but in this case they only add about 55% to the cost of the brandy(and that assumes cheap brandy and expensive additives). BE additives do not add anywhere near 400% to the cost of our food.

So I do applaud you for working on other food crafting options away from BE. Non-BE food is inexpensive and simpler to make than its BE counterpart. Overall my experience seems to indicate that the majority of players prefer the power of BE food. Talking about this does help though, and this is the place to do it. Where better than the Chef forums? New and old chefs alike come here to discuss our profession. So if you think we should boycott, BE's, I would like to know why. I personally couldnt survive without my BE, so I am interested to know why you think we shouldnt use them. Since my BE and I work together, we have managed to make each other quite wealthy. I think that finding a BE you can work with is extremely important.

For the record, I pay 30k for Lights, 40k for Mediums, and 50k for heavies. These prices do fluctuate from time to time depending on the quality of them and the current meat prices on the server, but thats about average.
