Thread: No Good Stat buffs = Shove this revamp you know where
They haven't nerfed doctor buffs or spices to the same level, but the chef is left, yet again, with at least 1-2 months of no sales.
Most have just recovered from the stack bug & then the stat bug, and now their reall market has been killed.
Most of the buffs we will have will be useless. Below average stat buffs, pet primary buffs that no one will use etc. Some og the skill buffs may be nive, but only if the stomache issue is addressed drastically.
I know you are stuck in the middle, and I am in no way having a go at you - you are simply the go-between - it is the devs that have, yet again, screwed us over.
We may well have decent level buffs in 2-3 months time, when the new HAM system is in, but that doesnt help us until then

point #2...the BE correspondent recently posted the resource requirements for the BE additives (I went to the BE forum to ask directly that he post something there, and possibly here as well...not sure if he had already planned to do so, but it couldn't have hurt). from what I can see, the requirements are still a lot higher than the food itself...with a few exceptions. while the effects of these have not yet been revealed, unless they are truly remarkable...it won't be enough to compensate for the reduced effectiveness of our stat buffs...perhaps on the skill buffs. all of them require meat, and with doctors driving up the market price on meat (30+ cpu for avian meat)...well its getting hard to find suppliers of meat as is, unless we start charging 1000 creds/use like doctors do with their buffs.
Dsabre,
I did a little testing on this ... the BE components that I used were using medocre meats and components.
You can find details here: http://www.catcreations.com/ayaonane/novicechef.htm#exp
In summary .. I was able to double the quantity, and add 50% to the effect. The flavor-affecting BE components were coming out pretty low.
BTW .. my BE's skill is Tissues II and Engineering II .. so there's a whole 3 experiment points ![]()
Also .. these are LIGHT components only. I was able to create medium addatives with over +200 to quantity, I haven't tested them (chef skill is too low) but I expect that they'll add 200% or so to the quantity.
Basically .. yes ... BE components are going to be in VERY high demand ... both blessing and a curse IMHO.

100% quantity...200% quantity...for some drinks with kegs...yes this could end up with something close to 100 uses per stack...and that would be quite incredible...
but what about regular food, not drinks, that can't take drink containers to multiply what looks like naturally small stacks.
think about this:
food a takes 20 resources, but is a good seller with a very useful buff. heavy additive for quantity gives oh lets say 300% increase in uses...but uses mostly meat, and triples the total resources needed, but also multiplies the resource cost by 10....
not quite so useful when people could simply buy 2 crates for double the price, as opposed to 1 crate at 5-10 times the normal price.
the duration ones that I saw posts for on the BE boards...not so promising...10% bonus for duration? even for a light additive...thats not very good, as many of our foods hover around 15 minutes.
if thats any indication of how BE additives are going to look for filling/effectiveness, its not a good sign. quantity is probably going to end up as the least useful...think about it, keg would give what, a 3-5% bonus to drink quantity, for any grind quality non ferous.... .2 cpu or so if you mine any high concentration you can find yourself...would take 1 BER13 a week to pull up almost enough for a full run of kegs on a 90% spot....or just hire a miner...you'll probably only pay 2 cpu at most for it. so maybe 1200 creds for a keg (the other 2 subcomps don't matter on quality either)...as opposed to probably upwards of 6k per heavy additive with a similar bonus...not quite balanced for the bonuses that they give.
but look at the market prices for meat....doctors have driven up the market price for it...a lot...good quality meat, probably not going for under 15 cpu to hire someone(s) to harvest it in large enough quantities....if you can convince people to stop going for the higher paying avian meat (30+ cpu).
its not that chef foods are necesarily bad...but lets face it, we always have been (and always will be at this rate) 2nd rate doctors trying to compete with buffs that can't fetch anywhere near as much profit...so we can't compete for the miners, or hunters. nor can we compete with armorsmiths or even BE's who can also afford to charge a lot more in terms of cpu for their products.
SV so we live with the new combat system buffs in the old combat systemfor what6 months? The devs are just in early development on this stuff. So during that time our customers will have to live with crappy stat buffs that make minimal difference. If stat bufs are not going to be important anymore then are they going to nerf the doctor stat buffs or entertainer buffs? I know I am not thinking ahead, but I live in the here and now not the future. People WANT our stat buffs, Stat buffs are noticable, is that 8% to accuracy going to be something that our customers can notice? I doubt it, so it is only going to be used in PvP, to get that small edge on someone else in hopes that it will be the difference.
I hope this doesnt sound attacking, it is not meant that way. If anything I am flusterated with the Devs for NERFING our stat buffs as much as teh next Chef. AND the fact that there has yet to be ONE dev say anything to us. They are changing OUR profession effecting everythign we do. They should be in here commenting on our concerns. It looks like they dont give an *EDIT* I went ahead and edited that cause I knew the board would.![]()

They're not in EARLY development. In fact, the HAM system changes were on TC for a short time some time ago but were then pulled because they were not quite ready for that publish.
*sigh* Can't I choose a profession that's not going to suck in a month after some stupid patch? I took CH, then BE's got a patch where they could make creatures that made catching anything in the wild useless. I have heard that has been "repaired" but only halfway. Not sure what BE's are capable of now.
Then, I decided to try Droid Engineer. I know I wouldn't be selling much right now, but I had heard rumors of a good patch in February. They're fun to make anyway. It's Star Wars, right? Well, I'm now reading about "Droid Handlers" which means that if that goes through, I'll be making stuff I can't even farking use. Wonderful.
So, this last choice, I decide to try chef. Sounds fun, and I love Durindfire and Bivoli Tempari to keep my TKM's and my friend's CM mind pools up. Now I read this andsee we won't be able to do that anymore because all the stat buffs are getting nerfed to heck. And, now, BioEngineers are going to be reaping even MORE cash because all our food will suck without the additives. I can understand professions working together, but making one totally dependent on another STINKS. I know BE's were having a rough time of it there for a while, but for gods sake, just hand them the whole freaking crafting side of the game why don't you!?!
So, tell me, what the heck am I supposed to do, now?
My chef isn't the only one affected by this. Anyone who is used to and depends on those stat buffs is getting screwed.

1. This buffs have been balanced with the new ham system, which is coming I believe in the patch after this. In it, mind is going to be a lot less important. If we were to ask for this now we would just need to ask them to redo it for the new ham system when it comes out.
2. With the addition of cups and biochemical components in all schematics we have gained a lot more flexibility to create schematics, not lost it.
3. Let them? How the hell am I suppose to let or not let anybody to do anything? I can bring them informatin, which is what I have been doing...I can beg them to come here and read, which is what I have been doing..
I hope you're right about the combat system, because as it looks now you guys are SCREWED!
Why didnt they keep this in their hip pockets till AFTER the new HAM stuff....nm...that would make sence...Well good luck guys. Youre gonna need it...
This seems a very silly thread
Instead of about 60 stat boosting foods we have a smaller mix of stat, skill and combat-boosting foods
Of course some things have gone!
Look at the balance of what has happened:
Negative: 1) lost some best-selling brands. Still it's hard to imagine that the fighters who were using Fishak wont switch to the new brandy
2) less lines - 75% of which didn't get used
Positive: 1) Approximately triple duration
2) Got milk
3) Food does tons of different and interesting things
4) the BE additives look fantastic
5) better grindables (these casks and stuff are grindable I assume)
6) New stuff, which simply because it's new makes the game more fun for those of us who played with the old stuff
It's a game, not your livelihood, stop being so insecure
