Thread: This is unreal...never thought that THIS would happen part#2
I am not upset that some chefs feel that they are being harassed by some smugglers. I have no doubt that it is true. Every profession has it share of jerks and my profession is no exception. What I DO have a problem with is talking about smugglers as a "class" when the poster is only talking about some smugglers.
I also find it kind of amusing that some of the chefs think that smugglers have this huge influence over the devs. Smugglers have been largely ignored since the beginning of the game (expect for our own nerfs) and I highly doubt that a few smugglers asking for a nerf on the chef boards changed anything. If the devs really listened to smugglers, we would have had something to smuggle before now and our revamp would have come long before the chef revamp because we are more numerous.
This ill will between the professions doesn't help anybody. We all want our professions fixed.
Oh, and to the person who said to stay off your boards, guess what I'm doing with the rest of my skill points? ![]()

Nikki,
So how many smugglers are we talking about anyway that come to these boards and cry nerf? I bet it isn't many and I don't think that they represent the views of the smuggler community. The original poster labeled a whole class based on the actions of a few when he said,"it really takes alot of nerve for a class such as smuggler to come into our boards and cry NERF THE CHEFS". Notice that he said "a class such as smugglers" and not "some smugglers". Since he decided to represent my profession in such a way (and you apparently agree with him), I would like to see the evidence of the smuggler community(not a few random members)calling for the nerf of the chef. Evidently, there must be post after post on the smuggler boards that I missed while I was busy "skimming them" and not actually reading them.
Threads like this one only lead to more bad feelings between the professions. Smugglers as a community don't have anything against chefs and are more concerned with getting their own profession fixed rather than nerfing someone else's. Don't believe me, take a look on the smuggler boards sometime.

I don't think its any ill will towards chefs, it's just a case of bad timing. Some smugglers, like myself, are crafters at heart (let me tell you how unfun having two combat lines to get non-combat abilities is
). As a crafter I was very gung ho about the Chef revamp, and still for the most part am. My other profession is DE, and let me tell you any improvement to a crafting class helps us all.
Now to the timing issues. I don't think you would see this frustration as much if the chef revamp came in publish 5 or 7. Its the fact that this revamp is coming right as the crackdown comes out. Its giving spice an additional penalty associated besides the downer, and giving what people see as a better alternative on the same day. Now I can't speak for other smugglers besides those I know, but the info in the friday feature causes spice sales for me to plummet. I used to move crates of spice at 8-10k a crate which is below market for Naritus. Since the friday feature i have gone from selling many crates a day to zero. ZERO crates this whole week on a planetary adv. vendor next to a city shuttle. Now I underdstand that this means more buisness to you guys, and for me that is really cool, but I've switched to selling resources because spice isn't going to be used, heck I pulled up my factory since I didn't have a use for it anymore. Spice is fast becoming another usesless line needed to gain master for a few incentives.
Again, sorry, this totally isn't your problem and just an apology for those attacks that have and may come, and letting you know why this anger is being misplaced at chefs instead of where it should go, at the pace of development. Imagine if you had an update where doctors could sell portable buffs for skills (your new gem that i am really excited about) and in the same publish decided that people would be shot by stormies or fined for carrying any of your skill boost food.
And just a personal reflection on Smuggler's Delight (which is the ultimate in name irony considering this issue
), why would anybody use a food that reduces a downer if it takes up space that could be used for a buff that lasts longer then the spice and downer combined?

sorry, I thought that the food/drink bar was being removed for one combined bar in this publish. Did this change or did I just read the test center incorrectly?
This is a rumor that I have no idea where this came from. This has never been discussed to my knowledge, and there are still two bars and it will remain that way. Taking that away would be the biggest nerf to chefs possible and you would be hearing me scream and rant up and down the boards if that happend. So if I am this calm, you know that isn't true. ![]()
