85% damage reduction for 3 shots can definitely be a lifesaver. But it can also be a complete waste of a full stomach. What if those three shots are a KD/dizzy combo? Sure, you've got plenty of health while you're laying there helpless... but you're still as good as dead. In good armor, a flamethrower hardly does any damage as it is, and it's the DoT that's dangerous... in which case you'd have been far better off with a different buff than that damage reduction. There's no real way to know ahead of time whether the DoT buff, the damage reduction, or a slew of + to defense foods would be the best choice, which severly marginalizes thier usefulness.

That two-hit kill by a rifleman... I can guarantee you it wasn't against someone with the +1400 to mind conferred by our current buffs.

I've weighed in on this issue previously, so I won't go to much length repeating myself.

Summary:
I don't think the new food is worthless, I'm just doubtful it's as good as what we already have, for the combat system we're currently playing under. I see some pretty obvious niche markets, and the new system certainly has potential if some glaring issues are worked out. However, as it currently stands and is reported by our TC guinea pigs, I'm less than enthused.

As a swordsman, I can tell you I wont ever be buying food again if this goes live......

Im sorry NONE of that appeals to me, the stat buffs are paltry, in relation to the damage I take from high end mobs. come on anything less than +100 for 30 minutes? right thats worth my time....

Every Chef I know on Ahazi is dropping this profession after the patch.

Chefs asked for a fix

Not for more broken food

Broken food = food that dosnt sell

This food wont sell, or if it does it wont sell well......

As a swordsman I can tell you I wont be buying it.

Hey Jerecki. I'd like to preorder a crate of this chugalug candy, cause I can't wait to see what happens when it's made with your real, non-test collection of food resources. If packs of this stuff, made with good resources and experimented below 33% filling, don't replace the Muon market, I'll be surprised.

lol Sadly the only ones that this "crackdown" will hurt are imps. It is just another chance for me to kill stormies as that is one of my favorite things to do anyhow.

As Master Pistoleer/Master Armorsmith who hunts for all of his hide himself I'll be buying Veghash by crates and most likely some of Kiwik Clusjo Swirl. For armorsmith I'll be getting either Bespin Port or Pyollian Cake. For PvP it's going to be much bigger list.

Chor-nor-hoola, Deneelian Fizz Pudding, Dustcrepe, Exo-Protein Wafers, Pikatta Pie, Synthsteak, Thakitillo, Corellian Brandy (big time!), Ithorian Mist (also going to be a big seller), Flameout, Blue Milk (by crates).

And that's considering that right now, the only thing I buy from chefs is Sunburn, and I don't even use that one very often (I go through a crate of it in about 1-1.5 month).

Also, Ormachek, this one, you wouldn't be able to keep stocked! One thing is when you grind for master chef and each item gives you 100-200 xp, and it's completely other thingwhen you are a Jedi and you need around 30 million xp just to get to Jedi Knight level. I highly doubt that any Jedi out there will leave their house without a crate of Ormachek in his back-pack.

I think what chefs right now don't understand is that people don't really use their food for buffs in PvP, and in PvE they care mostly about secondary stats. This is going to change with next patch, specials will no longer use your action/mind/health bar, so you wouldn't need buff for secondary stats just to keep your bar full. If you'll need a buff, you'll find master doctor (which works much better then food anyways. And much longer) or use spices. But new food opens up whole new market for chefs. Nobody in the game can currently affect so many things like chefs will after this patch goes life! And most of the chef are still stuck on "Wow! There removed buffs from our food! Give us back our buffs, cause all players want buffs!". Buffs will now be other professions prerogative, and chefs can concentrate in selling food that affects other things (sometimes much more important things. I personally got buffed by doctor only once in last 7 month and only use spices for PvP).

A post has already been made showing that the bonus gained by eating ormachek is about 1/10th the bonus you would get from eating stat food that helped you kill another lair every forty five minutes, which is the average decay time of ormachek. Also, this means they won't need a backpack full, as one crate will last 17 hours-ish.

THe combat system is going to be revamped so the stat food won't matter anyway.

Yes, but then they will be more likely to use dodge food (so as to not get hit), terrain negotiation (because they've gots none), or maybe even crafting bonus (because when you're working on weapons with damage in the thousands of damage and millions of credits, you want to make sure you don't crit fail a krayt pearl) than an extra 300 exp every forty five minutes.

You see, I'm not sure how this was calculated. I never grind to get up to master pistoleer, Iwas master ranger and I was just out hunting. So for me a little bit of rest between lairs to restore my action wasnot big deal (you have to find new lair first and run to it, you action can restore in that time). Plus, nobody stops you from getting buff from master doctor or spices (that's what they are there for), or even taking some drink that would buff your secondary stats at the same time you are eating ormachek.

It's just my personal opinion that buffs are highly overrated (except for PvP). I soloed Kimos, Krayts and everything else you can think of without any exploits and without any buffs. So for me, they are useless...

Even so, it's at least 3 new foods that are likely to sell. Doesn't look like a nerf to me.

The removal of literally every food and drink we had (because even the ones we have retained are not the same buffs and should not be considered the same food or drink) means that we would have a sum total of 0+3 items to sell, which makes 3.I regularly sell at least 7 items alone as it is (GGP, BoH, Fishak, Sunburns, Fire Stew, Vegeparsine, and Ormachek), so this would be a big decrease for me, personally.

This is not apples to apples. I never said we have nothing that will sell. IAM saying that weaponsmiths sell over15 types of items regularly, armorsmiths as well, and droid engineers need love just like we are getting, but better. Architects sell nearly every item they can make (with the exception of some ugly furniture and player city buildings).

We are being totally built up from the bottom, as the patch notes and Thunderheart said. Why couldn't we get more than a handful or two of the foods that WILL make sales, especially in the master box. Smugglers nonwithstanding (they are getting their own revamp), Doctors, Musicians, and Dancers seem to bein heavy demand for100% of their buffs. I do not expect this, but it is a ratio I would like to see us coming a lot closer to.

Then you wouldnt object if we asked you to not make clothes until that new patch comes out right? It should only be a few months of not being useful. Tack those onto the 5 we already had hrmm 7 months being a nonviable profession and 2 months as a working profession. Im hooked.
