Unfortunately, powerboost was nerfed with this patch and now it only boosts from your normal unbuffed mind rather than any buffed mind.

It's not the fact that its being completely, 100%, outright stolen (that's not the case in this situation).

I guess I'm just getting fed up with all of the Chef's abilities being doled out to other classes. You guys are encroaching on my bubble

Actually, I have found the new CM mind heal ability to not be much of a threat to chefs. My pikeman often hunts wtih a combat medic in the group and the mind wound damage he takes each time he heals someones mind is pretty high. High enough that it's only used in emergencies and then we have to stop and heal him before moving on after a battle.

While this new CM ability IS very useful and powerful when needed,I really don't see it as a threat to the chef profession. There are really not that many combat medics and the cost to use it are pretty high.

Let me explain the details of the mind heal -

  • The CM takes battle fatigue for each use. For me, this is 9 battle fatigue and appears to be constant, regardless of current battle fatigue or focus.

  • The CM takes mind, willpower, and focuswounds for each use. At 600 focus, I take 40/41/42 wounds. With lower focus, the number of wounds goes up. With higher focus, it goes down.

  • The CM takes a mind damage hit (like with any healing skill) whenever this is used. At 600 focus, I take a 200 point mind damage hit (in addition to the 40 hit from the wound).

Due to the wounds, I can't really use this routinely unless I am either standing in a cantina or have an entertainer in my hunting group. Even if I have an entertainer, battle fatigue eventually becomes a limiting factor.

Additionally, because the number of wounds is determined by current focus, I fully intend to popfocus buffing food before every mind heal. So I will definitely become a bigger customer of focus buffing foods. Corellian fried ice cream looks ideal for this use (it doesn't really matter if it a short-effect food since I just need to reduce the wounds I take short-term).

It's more efficient outside of combat to "heal" your mind by using mind and/or willpower foods. The main use of the new mind heal is during combat when your tank or main damage dealer has gone mind incapped (in which case food won't do them any good anyway).
