This is why I need to read the forums more often - I just cranked out 200 Barrels, in anticipation of one of the best batches of Vasarian Brandy known to sentients, when I discover that I get three times the uses from a Cask.

My only question - once Barrels are fixed, will the fix apply to them retroactively (in other words, did I just waste tens of thousands of resources producing these things?)

Wait, you got the same as casks?!? At least that's an improvement, it used to give the same stack size as small glasses. So you used a barrel, and got an 18 or 21 dose stack?

Hmm, maybe it'll give bigger stack sizes with low-quantity drinks like BoH. Now if I only had some power conditioners...

No, you misunderstand - Casks give me three times the uses of Barrels. In other words, with all other factors (ingredients, experimentation, etc.) being equal, I get 8 uses from a Barrel, but 24 uses from a Cask.

is it just me or do they not work? I actually tried making a barrel last night and it gave me the same quantity as a small glass (6). For as much that goes into one I had thought maybe an increase above a large glass.

any clue as to when barrels are going to be fixed? Chef get a revampt yet our master level container is broken should be a simple fix

You'd have thought it would be. If you do a search you will find many other posts asking the same question. None of them have actually has an "official" reply from SOE. As simple fix it may be but we're dealing with SOE here, fix one thing and break another.

Note: this post should in no way count as official SOE communication, I'm taking offmy "correspondant hat" for a sec.

I think that barrels are intended to be a "special" container, a bit more complicated than just a stack size multiplier. It may only be intended to multiply certain drinks (ones that have a naturally low stack size), or it might apply other modifications. What if the "temperature regulation" provided by a barrel gave a small boost to a drink's duration due to keeping it fresher?

Most drinks already get a hefty stack size just from the 3x multiplier provided by a cask. Do we really need stacks of Brandy with 30+ uses? An 8-10 stack of Breath of Heaven, on the other hand, would be nice.

As for the fixes, even small bugs can hang around for a while, especially when it has little effect on actual game play. Before the revamp chefs had to deal with quite a few problems that hung around for months. A couple recipes were bugged from launch until December or January. Anyone remember when we could finally make Outer Rim Rumdrop?

One thing that JustG tended to include in his roadmap of upcoming publishes (from his "state of the game" letters) were "correspondant issues" in a few minipublishes. I'm hoping that those mark some time set aside for bug hunts, starting with the various top-10 issue lists. And you'll notice that broken barrels are our #1 issue.

Wasn't it said at one time by the Devs (shortly after the revamp) that barrels were working as intended, and that they just weren't designed to be used with every drink? Well, that being said, has anyone ever gotten anything to work with them? I don't think so

I have tried em in every drink and believe me I got a lot of them to test with. They offer less count the a large glass. I do not know what the intent was with these as I did not design this game but I will say that given the complexity of the item and the required artisan parts {CU's an PC's} one would think they were intended to offer a much much larger count bonus then a cask. I would think the quality of CU's and PC's would matter too. However I have seen no noticable difference. But they are bugged so no telling.

I personally think they are NOT working as intented and they are indeed bugged. But that's just me.

Likewise, I have not found them to work in any drink, I've made one of every drink apart from Mandalorian Wine.

I dont want barrels tbh, casks are fine. What I'd like to see instead, is barrel removed and Plates added for food.
Currently there is a massive difference in food stack size vs drink stacks, and as the code exists for drink containers, I'm sure it wouldn't take long to add plates.

If barrels are intended to boost stack size, I hope they stay bugged because I seriously don't want the hassle of having to rely on yet another profession for my flagship products.

I'd also rather not see plates added either because let's face it, bigger stack size means less money in the long run. Sure, we can raise our prices to compensate for large stacks but in reality we know we're losing in the long run because we won't boost price in relation to the stack size modifier.

My answer from the CSR ticket that I opened on this subject was that this "is spoiler information" that they recommend viewing the forums for the answer... I cant wait til SOE gets over themselves, admits that the exisiting bugs that were here from Day 1 have cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars per month in revenues ... and stop leading the players (who are actually still paying them money) on wild goose chases to find out that they areIN FACTbugs.

SOE = morons ... me = bigger moron for continuing to subscribe

Please, just fix the game.

I'd rather see them deleted. Casks are enough in my opinion
