Thread: Are the powers that be aware that vegeparsine is possibly broken?

Ok, good to know that some people are aware of the issue including the chef correspondent. I guess I'll be using dodge foods until this gets fixed.

Someone had mentioned un-equipping and re-equipping your weapon for this to work, I tried that out and I did see a difference, albeit a small one. In a Jedi v. Jedi duel, the damage dropped a whopping 5 points per hit. Before re-equipping the saber, it didnt make any difference. I didn't do extensive testing, so I'm not sure how much it affects the chance to miss, but it does do something at least.

Hi all,

Just an update. Vegeparsine is still completely useless. I fought CL85 nightsisters and I saw *no* difference in the damage I took with and without vegeparsine. I tried the re-equip weapon trick (I re-equiped after taking the vege and in the middle of the battle) -- still no effect from the vegeparsine.

My assumption at this point is melee/ranged defense food and clothes still don't work. Just FYI.

Personally, I see a vast difference in how many times I am hit when taking either vegeparsine or pica (ranged def.). Thesefoods/drinks will not change the amount of the damage you take, they merely increase the possibility of avoiding a hit. Keep in mind that if your opponent's accuracyrating is still way above your modified defense rating, you will not see much of a difference.

Vegeparsine sells like hot cakes. If it was not working all the hard core players would not be buying it.

vegesparine is not working atm... compare it to duelist stance which give you +240 melee defence the damage will be reduced apx 30 pts.. sometimes more sometimes less.. so vegesparine should decrease damage by apx. 15 or less pts.. but you should at least see an effect.. which i dont

Melee/ranged defense is supposed to reduce the amount of damage done. Read the rest of post for some evidence of this or read one of the loading screens in-game that explains this.

As to whether or not, one gets hit more or less often with vegeparsine/pica thundercloud I can't say for sure. The damage reduction is easier to test so I assumed that since it was not working that the miss chance was also not working. Maybe I'll try to do some careful testing of the miss chances. When you say a vast difference, do mean you feel like you're getting hit less? Or did you count the number times you got hit in a given interval versus an identical opponent while not being effected by any states (or exactly the same ones)?

Not necessarily. They could all just be ignorant that it's broken.

that's not really a fair comparison. all defenses are supposed to do is move the damage that actually lands closer to your attacker's min damage. and it's not a linear function thatcontrols how accuracy and defense modify damageso you can't really say twice as much defense will mitigate twice as much damage. it is odd though that there's usually no damage mitigated whatsoever.

i have seen vege mitigate a little damage wheni tried it against a CL 25 or so critter. my personal opinion is that vege is only really good for avoiding a couple extra attacks and pikatta pie is much more useful. i tell that to anyone who asks, but people love the vegeparsine and pica thundercloud still.

Its not vegaparsine thats broke... Heavy testing by a guildmate and myself has shown that melee and ranged defense isnt doing anything for you atm. Bugged or as intended i dont know. We tried with respecing various lvls of defender and regular professions. Using foods & clothing and without any foods, melee or ranged modifiers. Either way it made no difference. Hope this helps

That is what i've also come to believe.

Shame that every chef I know including me makes something that is useless, but if I don't then I don't appear to be as well stocked as my rivals. No win really.

Tailor is worse off. Capped at +25 yet given ability to BE's to make tissues that far exceed that which takes the skill out of BE and makes Tailor almost worthless.
