Thread: Are the powers that be aware that vegeparsine is possibly broken?

Hey all,

I've seen scattered reports of vegeparsine not working and I went and tested it myself. Now according to threads like this one the damage done to you should decrease when you add defense. When I fought level 80 tortons on Rori (from missions) I was being hit for exactly the same damage with and without vegeparsine. It was also my impression that I was hit just as often but I did not rigorously test this.

There is a thread here in the tailor forums about BE clothes not adding to properly to defense and they mention the foods as well.

I suppose one possibility is that my defense was already "maxxed" out relative to the tortons but I doubt that since I had only +183 melee defense and they were level 80.

Anyone else confirm this? And are the powers that be aware of this issue?

when u add +defense its not lowering how much dmg u are taking....that is what dmg mitigation is for....+defense is making it harder to hit u....just to let u know........

thas what i keep thinking, but when i followed that link the guy said he was actually taking less damage the more melee defense he got

I've tried it by putting on and taking off melee def clothes and using vegeparsine but there's no change there so maybe they are bugged /shrug

Alls I know fer sure is that vege does make stuff miss you more, at least in PvE.

I think all that was ever confirmed by a dev is that if your Acc is higher than the Def or your target you do additional damage.
I can't remember saying that the other way is true as well, means if your Def are higher you take less.

So the benefit of Vegeparsine while comparing damage would only be visible when your defense is lower than your attackers accuracy. Then you raise it and lower his additional damage.
If your defense is too high already, there is no additional damage and you won't take less damage.

I think the best way to test this is in /duels where you have the exact values for defense and accuracy.

^^^ This is flat out wrong.

When you eat or drink anything that gives + to def or accuracy, re-equip your weapon. For some reason this seems to work for me.

Not unless things have changed since the CU. Pre CU melee and ranged defense increased the chances of your opponent missing you. It is possible that it has changed since the CU was released, but at least pre-CU this is how it was.

My character have 4004 Lightsaber and Melee Accuracy IV. This adds up to about 127 accuracy.
I have a few friends with Master Defender, and agreed to try without Aura. Added up, this defender have 255 Melee Defense.

I hit every time

Now, the damage I do is reduced. But the defender have 70 armor, so that is no surprise.

I ask them to put on their maxed-out BE wear, that should be capped at +25.
No effect. I hit every time, no change of damage.

I ask them to eat a Vegaparsine, +100 Melee Defense.
No effect. I hit every time, no change of damage.

Now I ask them to eat an Air Cake, +36 "Dodge"
-4% Damage, I hit 9 times out of 10.

Now I ask them to turn on Force Aura.
My damage is drastically reduced and I now hit 5 times out of 10.

Another note:
Also a friend who was MasterCommando take just as much damage now when she's Master Pistoleer/Master Commando (using the same armor)

--- Cancelled 24th November 2006
Reason: The lack of multiplayer pve content and Star Wars feel.
For 3 years I have tried to find excuses to stay in game but only the expansions offered me what I subscribed for in the first place: A multiplayer Star Wars pve experience with friends around the globe. I found friends but with almost no addition of pve content they dropped out one by one. Now it's my turn.

In that case it would appear if your accuracy is above a certain threshold melee defense has no effect.

vegeparsine is broken, I have tested on high and low level chars, it does absolutely nothing except change the numbers in your char;s spec sheet. I'm sure they know it b/c it seems that all (ca, be clothing, ect.) defense are broken.

Its not vegaparsine thats broke... Heavy testing by a guildmate and myself has shown that melee and ranged defense isnt doing anything for you atm. Bugged or as intended i dont know. We tried with respecing various lvls of defender and regular professions. Using foods & clothing and without any foods, melee or ranged modifiers. Either way it made no difference. Hope this helps

Good to know thats it not working. I feel great that I'm making something useless and that people are paying for it.

Is there any food that is helpful......... at all?

Frankly speaking I am beginning to lose heart with the whole thing.
