Someone said you can fix the no eating if you drop the food on the floor of a building and type /eat. Not tested it yet though...

I still think merchants were always underrated on the bugged list.
Think of it like this, must complaints are I can't do that or this doesn't work.
Merchant complaints I lost this, my vendor ate that. Much worse IMO.
And Considering the price of some of the things that are lost, can some times be crippling.
