the insane prices for BH brandy and the unavailability of BE bivoli tempari forced me to get a second account and grind out chef. almost finished after about a week and a half of steady grinding. at the same time a guild mate started a second account for the sole purpose of bio engineer. now we are making BE brandy for the fraction of the price. that fraction being 0! cant beat that. plus we both now have neat professions to tinker with. we will stockpile tons of resources needed to make enough schematics to last us a few thousand years. then make enough schematics to insure that we have all the brandy and bivoli tempari we will ever need. then we will promptly drop both professions. after making all the quick bucks we can of course. dont blame us "newb" "flavor of the month" grinders for pounding out the profs in record time. blame the over inflated prices of chef foods that drove us to do this. we are unashamed and extremely pleased with our effort and impending results. "old school chef" price gouging made our decision easy and quite fun. who knows? may be a possitive reflection on the ol FS grind as well. its been fun. thanks for the goodies we pillaged from the profession. see you all in the next "flavor of the month" profession.

ROFLMAO

1. go ahead and make enough schematics to last you 1000 years. Just make sure you have enough resources to cover those schematics. You have to use the same resources. I prolly should have said that, would have been funny for you to grind all that way not knowing a thing about what your doing then realize you have to use the same resource as the schematics says after you drop chef.

2. "old school chef" price gouging. That is the funniest. From what I have seenmost of teh "old school" chefs kept there prices reasonable because they knew overpricing too much(even with astronomical demand) would hurt the profession in the long run. But the5 "old school" master chefs per serverwont make a dent to keep the prices low when there are 100 new chefs pop up because the profession gets "fixed". Only thing that needed fixing was schematics and the effect. Not everythign else we got. (factory times, experimentation changes, umteenzillion factory runs)

3. hurry up make your schematics and leave. Remember not to forget and leave your oven on.I would hate to see your house burn down and you loose all those resources for your schematics after you drop chef.

Its not the old school chefs doing the price gouging, its the new quick buck chefs who have zero clue about the profession. Some charge stupidly high prices. Then there is the other group, the ones who mastered post revamp and now set prices with hardly any profit to try and make some kind of "statement" to the server about how evil the chefs are.

Are we wrong for wanting to make a profit? Nope. Its our time spent on the game collecting resources and making this stuff, that time could always be spent elsewhere hence you have to pay for it.

As for price gouging, well, I have no idea what the prices are like on Kettemoor. On Eclipse the price for BE enhanced crates of brandy has settled at between 175k / crate and 200k / crate. When you consider the stack size (this is casks) and duration, the price is more than reasonable.

To be honest, Im not sure what intention you have from your post. Are you trying to upset people? Aim something at the Kettemoor chefs? You and even your guild are a very small % of the market there, Im fairly sure that you are business they can live without... more likely be happy without.

Now please trot off back to the server boards or head over to the Droid Engineer boards (revamp coming, beware of those price gouging master DEs.... after all, they certainly dont deserve to make any profit off those new droids, they havent worked to get their master title, put up with many bugs and been a rejected class for many months). Im sure your presence will be extremely welcomed there, just as it is here

I've been aChef since launchand my vendors are mostly still stocked with hundreds of crates of the old Bivoli and Ice Cream, because I really hate destroying it all.

I'm also a Master Tailor and that's doing better than chef sales.

Quick buck? I was under the impression that being a chef was a great drain on time and resources. I'm thinking of taking it up to help out my guild seeing as we don't have a chef yet and quite fancy a crafting profession to make a change from fighting. I can't imagine having the time or patience to make money off it.

Individualexperiences will be used to refute this(as many people seem to confuse inductive with deductive reasoning and seem to think that theformer can be said in answer to the later) I find I cant resist replying to these pat responses. Food and drink were not 'generally'known or useda couple months before the revamp. I researched this myself using the personal interview method when thinking about switching servers and starting chef several months back when I first heard of the revamp. Compared to the entire population of players those that used food/drink were relatively few untill the later months of the game. It was a languishinig profession for most of the history of the game. The revamp comes and there is an influx of new people.

It isbasic human nature to desire to belong to a distinctive or exclusive group, another way of saying 'look how specialI am'.We love to herd, to belong to groups; in fact I would suppose many couldnt exist without identifying with some sub division of the herd, another way of saying 'look, I exist', a way of multiplying oneself through group affiliation. So now its upsetting to see others (the 'other'), the barbarians (outlanders), gougers, hackers, money grubbers, macro pushers(lol),enteringthe'our special'group.

Wewant to belong tothe group but you would stricture others who would join, like having your cake after you've eaten it. This is the general motivation underlying the complaints in this thread.

Perfectly typical and understandable from my perspective.

Who loves you baby,

I actually have no problem with the new influx of people, Im finally able to keep a vendor stocked for more than 3 mins (ok, if I stock it at midnight )

A larget number of Chefs means that we have a greater chance of getting any issues resolved sooner (OI DEVS - BARRELS! )

For those of you "old school chef" that are upset about all the new chefs I have one question for you, Who the hell do you think you are? You think SWG is supposed to block all new players or in my case veteran player to becoming a chef just because your pompas butt did it first? You need to get a life and get over it. As long as there are proffessions, ppl are going to want to master them. What a childish attitude to have. When I read your post I picture little 3rd graders chanting "copy-cat, copy-cat, copy-cat". If you dont like it, then leave your proffession and take up droid engineering, because after Publish 7 you can join in with them when everyone else becomes a DE.

As I said...things are changing, and many times change is good and bad. It is sad we are loosing the small community and that many friends have now left. That is really sad.

It is good that we are getting new people and new friends.

mastered chef today. not that hard at all. and im actually enjoying the profession. my original post wasnt really a complaint towards chefs. im a master doc on my main character and i get as much as humanly possible for my services. the foods chefs make are absolutely terrific. i just cant afford them. i in no way begrudge chefs for getting as much as they can. its not a piece of cake gathering the resources and creating the best foods possible. as far as having resources for the 1000 years of schematics im making goes........ well as i also said in my original post, we are stockpiling tons of resources before we even make the schematics. im well aware of the requirments of factory made goods. as i said, im a doc. we have to do the same thing. schematics would be useless to us without lots of matching resources. ive already ran several full runs of subcomponents such as protato's, glass's, casks, syrup. that kind of thing. im aware also that i will have to make a different schematic for each run of those components. i may be a "newb flavor of the month chef" but i am well aware of the requirments of factory made goods. so far me and my guild have collected over 25k high quality carnivore meat, 10k high quality milk!!! that wasnt a lot of fun by the way. i have over 200k identical planet specific fruits, berries, veggies. ect. ect. i think ive got my bases covered for the schems to last us a while. hope so anyways. sure dont want to grind out chef and BE again. long nights of boring crafting to get it done quickly. i also picked up the required skill box in tailor to make the trim. would be kinda funny though if i went through all that trouble just to discover a month down the road that i forgot to stockpile one schematic or one resource.

I sense the dark side in you.........

Tally,

Not sure why you decided to reply in this manner. I said you are the exception, the ones that actually care about cheffing not trying to make a quick buck. As far as my intensions, cheffing was fun before the patch, now all you do is do the factory crate shuffle, wait on factorys, beg, plead, and sell your soul for enough meats to feed a BE (if you can find one) to make me something just so I can play the game. Chef was more fun before the patch, yes a lot of schematics were pointless, but the 10 that worked, worked well. Also yes there are some chefs (not all)on kettemoor that are selling brandy for 375k a crate, and the overall quality of the item shows they do not care or know anythingabout the profesion. +420 50fil 33 mins 18 use.I sell/sold for 200k a crate myself and I feel taht is the upper side of the spectrum like you do.

As far as the last comments/flames go, I am going to assume those comments were made with you thinking that I thought 200k was too much for brandy. Which the gouging I am talking about is this 375k crap. The price gouging is going to kill the entire market in the long run, but why should I care anymore?I dont really sell to the public andgetting close to even dropping SWG completely.I guess it is because I really loved this profession.

Raviolicaponi

We only dislike at the ones that dont give a **edit** about the chef profession and are just here to make a fast buck. Those that enjoy the profesion, and want to make quality items are more than welcome. Those that are just here for a quick buck and flood teh market with crap are the ones people do not like.

Being an "old school" chef, I can say I am most pleased with the revamp because I now get to read posts like this one!

Talk about someone who can't read between the lines...
