There isfour kinds of chefs:

1) Those who craft for their guild/friends only

2) Dabblers (They make and sell some food, just never take it very serious)

3) Cash Kiddies (These are the people who /respec their alt chef thinking its a get rich craft. They last a little while, spend the money they make on gear for their mains, then dont want to be bothered with the responsibility anymore and their shop closes)

4) Lifers. These are the chefs with the big retail stores that love the profession. They have been a chef a long time and prolly will be until they quit. Every server has them, and most of them post on these forums.

I'm 1, and 2, with ambitions of avoiding 3, and becoming 4.

Ditto, but I think I'm gonna have to become a 4 soon.

I made my credits in Architect. I've dealt with boomers and undersellers for 2 years. They burnout. Only once have I seen staying power on my server for a Chef, and that was APEX foods. I've loved dabbling in Chef, but now that APEX foods has quit crafting, I think I am going to move up the game.

Having said that, Chef has always intrigued me due to the many facets that have to come together to make a great product. At least it's fun doing it!

The thing is, I want more chefs to come in who cares about the profession and who will be lifers instead of those that see it as a cash cow.

Healthy competition is a wonderful thing, it keeps the chefs on their toes and improves the products/prices for the consumer. But how do you compete with things that change on a monthly basis because the chef population is acting like some sort of revolving door.

Um...Sell your resources since they are at a premium price now and your probably wont make as much of a return by keeping them

I don't think you understand what I am having a problem with. It is not about the credits, its about the profession.

I don't want the profession that I enjoy to be used and abused and then abandoned they they tire of it. Ah its a game and people should be able to what they choose I suppose.

#1 here. I decided a few weeks ago to lighten up on SWG, cancelling three of my five accounts. I put up my entire stock of HQ resources for the low price of only 200 million credits on the trade forums and was going to retire from crafting. I received many pm offers to buy out my stock. Then my guild leader came calling and told me that he did not want me selling my stock out to the other larger crafters on the server. He was concerned about monopies developing on our server. So, right now I am in limbo waiting to hear how my guild leader is going to come up with a plan to raise at least some credits to buy out my inventory for another guild chef. Of course, the e-mails going back and forth on the subject ended when I told him that the chef in question could only contribute about 10 million credits and when I reminded him that he had said he would put up the difference.

Go figure

I just laugh about it, as I don't really need the credits, I have plenty already and could always get more if needed by selling look/rewards and such.

Chef seems way too hard for me. I doubt that more than 5% of new ones will stick at it
