Thank you for that, sorry it will be ignored.

I wanted to say that I don't thing it's harder to get to Master Chef than it is to get Master Doctor, and getting to master Doctor is a lot more fun and a lot more effective once you get there. Then again, I'm only 0/0/2/2 Chef, so maybe I'm missing out on the amazing Chef endgame.

Naturner, I don't think that PE for radioactives is ignored. I think what you are seeing is a counter-intuitive effect of how attributes are calculated: Resources without a particular stat are ignored when averaging that stat. Only if -none- of the resources have a stat is it treated as 0. So your Steel is doing better then you Radio because you have another component (presumably an organic) that has higher PE than the Radioactive. With the steel in, only the organic's PE is used. And the effective PE drops when it gets averaged with the radioactive.

I'm going to sit down this weekend and try to collect more data on just which stats do affect which experimental aspects of food. It is clear that they were designed by monkeys, and then documented by gibbons.

Wonderful post! I can only hope that this gets some attention along with the nonusable food bug. Personally, I'd like to have smaller stacks of high quality food as opposed to larger stacks of crappy food. But hey, that's just me...

That's not true at all. I've spent probably 80% of my game time doing chef stuff and 20% doing doctor stuff to date. I've been Master Doc for maybe a month or more, and I'm still a box from Master Chef.

It might be possible to get to Master Chef faster, but you'd be grinding Ithorian mists nonstop and you'd need a large stockpile of expensive materials to do it. I got to Master Doc by actually beinga doctor and healing people, not by grinding useless items (well there was a little crafting grinding but nothing compared to chef), and I got there very quickly that way. I find it incredibly frustrating that I get next to no experience being a chef (or any other crafter other than architect for that matter), since (1) our best items give low exp and so we grind our non-sellable items, (2) factories give no experience, (3) we get no UXP from factory stuff and unreliable UXP from anything else, and (3) there is no experience bonus for quality or experimentation.

One question, are these experimented values the 'hard'(can't experiment any more)or 'soft'(No further experimentation matters)limits?

I gotta say Chef's most defenetly win the most bugged class from any game award. With experimentation bugged, and our only products "food stack" bugged, we are 100% bugged! There is not a single part of chef that is not bugged ... woohooo

Add the fact that you can't get milk anywhere in the game, in a resonable quantity, the chef profession is 110% bugged.

Let's see:

Food stacks - bugged

High level foods - useless buff, too short duration, fills you up too much

Milk - central to about 20% of the recipes, perhaps more - all but missing

Role-playing - nonexistent - no chef hats, no aprons, no long twirly french mustaches

Equiptment - nothing - make crafting stations look like ovens or something, add pantrys and bar

counters/stools for architects to make.

EVERYTHING ABOUT CHEFS IS BUGGED

The only reason there are chefs at all is we are hoping it will be a cool job one day.

cheers!

Hey Chez, I'm a master architect, but i know what you are talking about.

They need to take a serious look at these numbers for experimentation, so that you guys can make some worthwhile stuff. I for one would buy experimented food, if it was good , cause i don't use spice.

As you might of heard, I have contact with the chef designer now, instead of going through Q and Xahn. I am going to make sure he reads this thread.

I thank you for all the positive comments on my writing. It was my hope that by presenting my arguement thoughtfully that it would bring attention to what I feel is a critical class defining issue.

I'm wondering if its feasible for any chef message board admin to float this thread up to the top of the board.

Another dissertation coming soon, hopefully while I'm still interested in this game...
