Thread: how many are ready to leave chef if no love comes soon?

I'm considering leaving chef.

But mostly because I'm bored of the crafter lifestyle, and want to go hunting with my friends more and pvp some.

Basically I'll need the points from artisan and chef.

Maybe if there was something to save up for to buy I'd continue making (slow) money from chef, but with the item limits on houses, i don't even feeling like saving for a large house or pa hall. no item count available to decorate it anyway. no real use for it. Basically there is no goal for a chef in my mind. for a combat class I can decide I will solo X monster today, that's my goal. for chef, theres not really anything. But that is perhaps the same for all crafting classes, So perhaps my beef is with crafting in general. I never did last long in a crafting profession in any other mmorpgs i've played.

If i could afford to get another account I would keep chef, and have a combat alt. but i'm too poor for that

On the brighter side, i'm considering becoming a squad leader my main priority is to be in the minority

Oh dear. Reached master artisian other day still undecided where to progress. I am also just shy of master dancer. Can I pick em or what? Don't get me wrong I love the rp experience of dancing in the cantinas. I like crafting food as in the town on the server I am at buysa lot of it (tons of imp/rebel fights)lol. By reading this post though there really is no reason to progress and use skill points up. I do think as the game progresses and the kinks get worked out that both fields will be a lot stronger. To be honest I have had to educate a lot of players on the use of foods. Surprised how many dont know when to use them. I have given free food to new players with instructions on how to use to help keep the alive hopefully. They learned food effects worked out better in long run than the down tme from using spice etc. Also giving the free samples makes you and your product better known. Try traveling around to multiple towns etc looking for new players to educate. The book that comes with game lacks a lot and lets face it if blob candy is their only experience it will be a poor one. Plus gets your name known. There are so few chefs and massive number of ppl who have no clue about foods and their buffs. Anyhoo hate to lose even one of you...even if you are my competition as I like a good battle even if its a food fight lol.

The _only_ reason I haven't given up chef is that the PA medics like vercupti & fishak. If it wasn't for that, I'd drop it for Master Pistoleer to go with Smuggler.
If it isn't fixed VERY soon though, even that wont stop me from packing it in.

I don't know about anyone else but ive been sitting here at master chef for a good long time now and I am really getting fed up with the whole lot of nothingness we get from the Devs.

If the devs dont do anything soon I dont know how long I can sit around and wait .. its really getting frustrating.. Does anyone else feel the same way ? perhaps if the deevs know alot of chefs are readly to leave the might do something about the profesion..

If you can, try working on something else for awhile. It definitely helps to eliminate a lot of the headaches. I personally picked up a 2nd account so that I could try out a combat class or two and explore other portions of the game. Eponi's currently a Chef/Doctor/Artisan combo so he can't really get out and see much of the world without a whole army of escorts. My 2nd character is a melee class so it's been interesting so far (even though I seem to be gravitating to the underdeveloped classes). I understand that getting a 2nd account isn't an option for everyone, but try dabbling in one or another of the base professions - you might be suprised with how much you like doing something other than cooking.

I think a lot of people are starting to hit that "wall" with crafting professions and burning out. I've seen it especially with architects, but it's starting to propogate through the other crafts classes as well.A lot of players have spent so much time grinding, hocking their wares, trying to be the best on their server... and nothing else. Now that these craftsmen have a large customer base to support, the vast majority of their time is spent upkeeping their elite profession rather than enjoying what the rest of the game has to offer. It's an easy recipe for burnout.

Waiting around until the next fix for chef's will likely disenfranchise a lot of people. Like many of your parents used to say when you were younger, go out and play, do something different. (Laugh - my mom told me this exact thing last night, to get off the computer and go outside for some fresh air. Chuckle.)

I havea chef character that I created in order to spend some time seeing other aspects of the game. I did the grind to get to Novice Chef and thought that it would be more fun to make the food after that.

BAH! It's a boring process, seems nothing like cooking, and no one wants my food. So I haven't played my chef character in a while. I feel like there isn't much of a point unless it gets fun. I also feel like at the current rate it would take me forever to get any of the boxes (no, I don't even have one yet) unless I use a macro or find some other way to craft more quickly. So I give up...I'll probably eventually just delet my chef character.

I will not leave chef. I made over 300,000 creds this past weekend selling all different combinations of chef foods.

I almost have BE as well to make my own supplements so when that gets working the food will be even better.

I think there is a real wall when you master any crafting profession, and you turn into a mode where you set up vendors and let the business fall where it may. At first I was all into finding the finest ingredients that I use and making the best food possible, but the schematic percentages are still all screwy, so I'll never know when the right ingredient is uber enough for me to strip mine it.

I get on the game, check my email, and maintain my vendors/factories/harvesters...it's not exactly fun. An organics resource dealer (not just selling med organics) on Ahazi hasn't popped up yet that I can tell, so the maintenence continues. I'm just actually glad I'm not burning myself on actually selling too much, and having to work harder for more imaginary money (that's a weird perspective ).

Lately I've been doing a lot more missions and building up my combat class, but even that gets boring without any unique content in the game. I just find myself playing less and less.

I'm going to stick it out for awhile longer. I just got to master chef and master merchant. Sales are slow, because of the bugs. I can only hope that it will work out eventually.

Carvaggio i know exactly what you mean except i am done with my combat profession and i do wish there was a flora resource miner on ahazi that would brighten my day, its ok im moving right now and havent done jack for orders besides running like a full schematic of Aludium pu36, and starshines in preparation for unnerfing/large orders/my own personal savior.

If your a combat profession all chefs should at least always wear armor(in PVP)seeing how we can buff our stats to combat armors encumbrance and to make our mind pretty high, i have a set of buffs to go for +1300 mind +800 focus teamed with smuggler, doctor the only problem with chefs is we really arent a support class (which is what i hoped for) there are really only 2 support classes in game (CM/Docs). But again oh well i guess i should have researched before hitting up this profession.

OK, chef has serious problems. But it is not impossible to sell. I hit master on Saturday and am now backlogged for a week or more with orders, many orders for more than 100k (one guy was willing to spend a million for a bulk order for his guild). PVPers are desperate for that edge to get ahead and they are very excited about food, even with the stack bug (one guy wanted to order more crates cuz all his stacks were bugged, I gave him the workaround and he tipped me and bought 3 crates anyway). And I've been selling food successfully well before hitting master.

I don't know, maybe there is a shortage of food on Starsider. And definitely the master chefsare going to get a lot more sales. But believe me it is possible to make money as a chef.
