Thread: Chef bugs and issues pass #3: prioritizing.

Ok, I think we've got a pretty complete list (check it out in "pass #2"). What we need to do now is figure out which ones are the most important to us so I can pass that on to Thunderheart.

He has asked for a top five issue list, along with a "pool" of up to 15 more. I'd like to have at least the top 10 things ordered, the rest can just kind of be there.

Based on the results in the first two passes, general forum topics, and other details, here's my rough draft of the ordering:

A) Barrels do not increase drink stack size. (bug)

B) It takes 45 minutes for the stomach to go from

C) Some food/drinks (especially at the 4th row and Master Chef level) need some adjustment to power, duration, filling or stack size to really be useful.

D) Add new food schematics. These were promised when details of the revamp's reduced menu were released. These can either be added to skill boxes as learned schematics, looted from NPCs, or rewards from doing quests.

E) Add a numeric display to the filling bars. These would make it easier to see when you're empty enough to take a new food/drink.

F) Stomach filling remains after cloning, even though the buffs are cleared. Players would either like both the filling and buffs to be cleared, or both to remain.

G) Non-stat buffs remain on the player after cloning, however the buff UI icons are cleared.

H) Add an optional "plate" component to foods that allow the chef to increase the stack size, similar to containers for drinks.

I) Components learned in chef skill boxes (casks, medium additives, barrels, large additives) give general crafting xp.

J) Remove collision detection on the cantina's bar and shelves, so items can be placed directly on them, instead of giving an "invalid location" error.

K) Garrmorl and Durindfire have gated stats due to required resources lacking Flavor and Potential Energy.

L) Add a second additive slot to Master-level foods to allow more variation in these foods, and to give Masters an additional perk.

M) Remove serial number requirements for components. Drink containers already have this, and since subcomponents cannot be experimented on one should be as good as any other.

N) Add a "food cart" (similar to what can be found in NPC cities) that can be placed in a shop, or possibly as an outside structure.

O) Display a system message to indicate when a food effect has triggered, and what that effect was.

P) Add a harvester installation type to automate gathering creature resources (meat, milk, hide, bone).

Q) Filling bars get misaligned when the character sheet is resized.

R) Add the ability to "equip" food/drink items so that these are visible on the player's toon, including eat/drink animations.

S) Increase the variety of the food's art, there are too many recycled icons (especially the yellow canape used for 50% of the desserts).

T) Give food and drink their own category in the bazaar, and move spices somewhere more appropriate than "Food".

U) Increase crate size for components

V) Add advanced components to increase the power/duration of the final food.

W) Displayed experimental percentages are incorrect for some recipes (Karkan Ribenes, Blue Milk, a couple others)

X) Buff UI updates the timer on an existing stat buff when you take a second, overwriting the time remaining. This can make it difficult to determine when a buff will wear off.

Y) Haavla and Ruby Bliel do not appear to give much (if any) reduction to heal recovery time {note: does anyone have any hard numbers on this one?}

Z) Update food descriptions during the crafting process to indicate what the food's effect is.

Some commentary on a few things left off:

1) Wookiees cannot wear crafter's apron: TH posted a couple weeks ago (in a weekly roundtable) that this is already being looked at, so I figured that we can leave it off the chef list.

2) Factories giving manufacturing errors when the output hopper gets around 60% full: This is on the architect correspondants top 5.

Like I said, this is a verypreliminary ordering. Now it's time for your input. Reply to this post, and vote for each item with a value of 1 to 20. If you don't care one way or the other about the item, leave it off. If you want the item removed from the list, rate it with a 999. Note there are 26 items, you can only pick 20. Please, no commentary, simply list your votes, either ordered by letter or number.

*** IMPORTANT NOTE ***

My intention was to have you rate these by priority, so 1 is most important, 2 is second-most important, etc. I got a PM saying there may be some confusion. I don't think anyone has done it in the opposite order, but if you have, either edit your post, re-do your post, or send me a note so I can take that into account.

This voting will go on until Thursday night (maybe longer if I think we need more input). I will collect the information, and repost the list as I will send it to Thunderheart.

Please, lets get as much feedback as we can on this. Thank you for your time.

Here arer my main concerns... I added only MY top five

#1 P) Add a harvester installation type to automate gathering creature resources (Milk Only, players should be the sole source of hide and bone!!! Otherwise the scout proffession is useless).

#2 A) Barrels do not increase drink stack size. (bug)

#3 C) Some food/drinks (especially at the 4th row and Master Chef level) need some adjustment to power, duration, filling or stack size to really be useful.

#4 F) Stomach filling remains after cloning, even though the buffs are cleared.Boththe filling and buffs to be cleared

#5 M) Remove serial number requirements for components. Drink containers already have this, and since subcomponents cannot be experimented on one should be as good as any other.

This is not to say that I would not want all of the other items... these are my priorities. Thanks for everything you do!

24 - A) Barrels do not increase drink stack size. (bug)

1 - B) It takes 45 minutes for the stomach to go from

2 - C) Some food/drinks (especially at the 4th row and Master Chef level) need some adjustment to power, duration, filling or stack size to really be useful.

8 - D) Add new food schematics. These were promised when details of the revamp's reduced menu were released. These can either be added to skill boxes as learned schematics, looted from NPCs, or rewards from doing quests.

3 - E) Add a numeric display to the filling bars. These would make it easier to see when you're empty enough to take a new food/drink.

9 - F) Stomach filling remains after cloning, even though the buffs are cleared. Players would either like both the filling and buffs to be cleared, or both to remain. Sorry for the comment, but based on a post you made a week or so ago with the reason why the devs didn't do this, I think a split between PvE and PvP might be another option. This issue goes more into balance it seems than an actual bug.

25 - G) Non-stat buffs remain on the player after cloning, however the buff UI icons are cleared.

7 - H) Add an optional "plate" component to foods that allow the chef to increase the stack size, similar to containers for drinks.

19- I) Components learned in chef skill boxes (casks, medium additives, barrels, large additives) give general crafting xp.

11 - J) Remove collision detection on the cantina's bar and shelves, so items can be placed directly on them, instead of giving an "invalid location" error.

4 - K) Garrmorl and Durindfire have gated stats due to required resources lacking Flavor and Potential Energy.

12 - L) Add a second additive slot to Master-level foods to allow more variation in these foods, and to give Masters an additional perk.

5 - M) Remove serial number requirements for components. Drink containers already have this, and since subcomponents cannot be experimented on one should be as good as any other.

13 - N) Add a "food cart" (similar to what can be found in NPC cities) that can be placed in a shop, or possibly as an outside structure.

14 - O) Display a system message to indicate when a food effect has triggered, and what that effect was.

999 - P) Add a harvester installation type to automate gathering creature resources (meat, milk, hide, bone). I agree with the above poster. If it was milk I would be all for it, killing off the one big bonus to scout and ranger is not how I would like to get more creature resources.

15 - Q) Filling bars get misaligned when the character sheet is resized.

16 - R) Add the ability to "equip" food/drink items so that these are visible on the player's toon, including eat/drink animations.

17 - S) Increase the variety of the food's art, there are too many recycled icons (especially the yellow canape used for 50% of the desserts).

18 - T) Give food and drink their own category in the bazaar, and move spices somewhere more appropriate than "Food".

6 - U) Increase crate size for components

10 - V) Add advanced components to increase the power/duration of the final food.

20 - W) Displayed experimental percentages are incorrect for some recipes (Karkan Ribenes, Blue Milk, a couple others)

21 - X) Buff UI updates the timer on an existing stat buff when you take a second, overwriting the time remaining. This can make it difficult to determine when a buff will wear off.

22 - Y) Haavla and Ruby Bliel do not appear to give much (if any) reduction to heal recovery time {note: does anyone have any hard numbers on this one?}

23 - Z) Update food descriptions during the crafting process to indicate what the food's effect is.

Outside observer & heavy eater who wants the game better for all... not a chef

1: G) Non-stat buffs remain on the player after cloning, however the buff UI icons are cleared.
2: B) It takes 45 minutes for the stomach to go from
3: X) Buff UI updates the timer on an existing stat buff when you take a second, overwriting the time remaining. This can make it difficult to determine when a buff will wear off.

9: T) Give food and drink their own category in the bazaar, and move spices somewhere more appropriate than "Food". does this include sorting of factory crates?
10: I) Components learned in chef skill boxes (casks, medium additives, barrels, large additives) give general crafting xp.
11: W) Displayed experimental percentages are incorrect for some recipes (Karkan Ribenes, Blue Milk, a couple others)

15: K) Garrmorl and Durindfire have gated stats due to required resources lacking Flavor and Potential Energy. at least to get word if this is intentional or an oversight

999: O) Display a system message to indicate when a food effect has triggered, and what that effect was. leave synthsteak out and i might change my mind. but I don't need to be spammed by sys messages as i'm kd/dizzied and getting beaten on

I'd toss smugglers delight in the list at 14 if there are still problems with it. I haven't kept up with the tests on it. (and please don't use this thread to let me know its status, I've already talked more then I should)

1 G) Non-stat buffs remain on the player after cloning, however the buff UI icons are cleared.
2 F) Stomach filling remains after cloning, even though the buffs are cleared. Players would either like both the filling and buffs to be cleared, or both to remain.I know a lot of patrons who feel they would prefer to try a different tack, with different foods, if they die facing an oppnent. That approach ishindered by the stomach meter remaining full after cloning. Seems to me the clone is supposed to bebase physical material, not your pocket change, foods you ate, or items you carried at the time. Insurance exists precisely for that reason.

3H) Add an optional "plate" component to foods that allow the chef to increase the stack size, similar to containers for drinks. Might as well eliminate quantity (BE)additives entirely.

4P) Add a harvester installation type to automate gathering creature resources (meat, milk, hide, bone). What about having farm animals? Maybe allow CH / Rangersto somehow get involved in making domesticated animals for milk?Or possiblyacollaboration between Ranger / Architect / CH / BE to produce a farm deed? Sorry, this has probably been mentioned before.

Here goes.. my text is in blue. I separated them intocategories.. do we really have to use a slot on our top 5 for a bug? Those should be fixed regardless. Anyhow.

BUGS:

F) Stomach filling remains after cloning, even though the buffs are cleared.(bug?) Players would either like both the filling and buffs to be cleared, or both to remain.
A) Barrels do not increase drink stack size. (bug)
K) Garrmorl and Durindfire have gated stats due to required resources lacking Flavor and Potential Energy. (bug?)
I) Components learned in chef skill boxes (casks, medium additives, barrels, large additives) give general crafting xp.
W) Displayed experimental percentages are incorrect for some recipes (Karkan Ribenes, Blue Milk, a couple others)
Y) Haavla and Ruby Bliel do not appear to give much (if any) reduction to heal recovery time {note: does anyone have any hard numbers on this one?}
B) It takes 45 minutes for the stomach to go from full to empty (bug?)
X) Buff UI updates the timer on an existing stat buff when you take a second, overwriting the time remaining. This can make it difficult to determine when a buff will wear off.
G) Non-stat buffs remain on the player after cloning, however the buff UI icons are cleared.
Q) Filling bars get misaligned when the character sheet is resized.

TWEAKS/ADJUSTMENTS:

P) I don't support this as it is written, but the issue is a very important one. Please consider changing it to something along the lines of: "Address the lack of availability of hand-harvested organic resources (meat, milk, hide, bone). Currently chefs are either unable to obtain enough creature resources to make the things they need, or are forced to pay inflated prices (200cpu is not unheard of on some servers) to get what they need. They must then raise thier prices further enforcing the belief that chefs are evil moneygrubbing goons. Some ideas:

  • Add a harvester installation type to automate gathering creature resources (meat, milk, hide, bone).

  • Further increase the yield of harvested resources for scouts/rangers as you climb to master ranger.

  • Change milking so that yield is influenced by the creature harvesting skill of the milker and not just the size of the animal.

C) Some food/drinks (especially at the 4th row and Master Chef level) need some adjustment to power, duration, filling or stack size to really be useful.
Z) Update food descriptions during the crafting process to indicate what the food's effect is.
M) Remove serial number requirements for components. Drink containers already have this, and since subcomponents cannot be experimented on one should be as good as any other.
U) Increase crate size for components
J) Remove collision detection on the cantina's bar and shelves, so items can be placed directly on them, instead of giving an "invalid location" error.
T) Give food and drink their own category in the bazaar, and move spices somewhere more appropriate than "Food". There are already categories for Food and Drink under Misc. Spice, however, should be moved out of Food and into its own Spice category.

ADDITIONS:

L) Add a second additive slot to Master-level foods to allow more variation in these foods, and to give Masters an additional perk.
V) Add advanced components to increase the power/duration of the final food.
D) Add new food schematics. These were promised when details of the revamp's reduced menu were released. These can either be added to skill boxes as learned schematics, looted from NPCs, or rewards from doing quests.
H) Add an optional "plate" component to foods that allow the chef to increase the stack size, similar to containers for drinks.
S) Increase the variety of the food's art, there are too many recycled icons (especially the yellow canape used for 50% of the desserts).
N) Add a "food cart" (similar to what can be found in NPC cities) that can be placed in a shop, or possibly as an outside structure.
O) Display a system message to indicate when a food effect has triggered, and what that effect was.
R) Add the ability to "equip" food/drink items so that these are visible on the player's toon, including eat/drink animations.
E) Add a numeric display to the filling bars. These would make it easier to see when you're empty enough to take a new food/drink.

If I had to do a top 5 for me personally..

1. Fix our bugs. (Yes, all of them. )

2.C (this could be done through L somewhat)

3. P

4. U or M

5. D or H

You know many of these can be combined so we can squeeze more "information" into our little list for TH and not have to leave things out. =) For example, all the UI bugs/issues (X, G, Q, E), all the storage related issues with subcomps (M,U), and the issues with subparadvanced foods (C,L,V).
