Thread: Yay! No more manufacturing@7 bugs...

... instead, now you get an email, asking you to file a bug report. Now that's classic. It's been over a year, rather than fix the bug, they fixed the email telling you there's a bug. I hope they weren't up all night thinking up this one.

Basically, factories will stop when the output hopper is at 56% or 65% or any other random number, for no good reason. You then have to go pull one thing out and your factory makes another crate or 10, before having another random stoppage. Incredibly annoying bug that's been in game since launch.

Before, you'd get an email about a manufacturing@7 error. (Basically, the bug-email was bugged, too). Now they've fixed the email, so it tells you to file a bug report but they've not fixed the actual bug that triggers the email. (And I am now religiously filing a bug report every time I get one). It just seems silly. I honestly don't care what the email says, I want the actual bug gone!

The only time I've ever had anything like this happen to me is when I have more then 100 items in the factory ( input + output ) Even though the two hoppers don't add on screen they do count for the overall and the factory randomly stops, or at least it seems random.

I regularly get this bug when my output hoppers are around 72% full. Doesn't seem to matter what is in the input hopper. So now I just work on an effective hopper size of 70 crates. I've given up on this ever being fixed, lol.

I get this bug usually only when i do powerups.

I learned now to only make 500 at once, since the factory would stop at exactly 50 crates for me, if the happer was empty.

If hopper was not empty it will be more then 50 in the hopper then but not 50 created (confusing? If 5 crates where in the Output it would stop at 53 crates or so)

I learned to empty my output hopper before making the next run, or make sure the combined volume will not be more than 50 crates.

Never got this email since someone else holds my factories

I also only get this bugged when my outputs are full, but i'm very careful in not making too much in 1 factory. And what ever does get made goes into the input pretty much as soon as its done or onto my vendor.

Mine got to 94%... and then... *shakes head* Here's my bug report. I'll just cut and paste it.

Factory hopper capacity is not accurate. I had a food factory going making heavy nutrition supplements. It was a full run of 1000 (999 really, if you count the schematic). Once my factory hopper got to 94/100, the last partial crate it made had only about 4 units in it, the factory stopped. I restarted it because sometimes factories don't behave. It stopped again after the cycle and nothing was made. I checked my hopper, it was at 94/100 and there was plenty of room for the rest of the run. I kept restarting it, hoping it would catch, but it never did. I had to REMOVE something from the factory output hopper in order to get the factory going again. This is annoying. Now, I wouldn't be complaining too much except that every time I tried to restart the factory, the damned thing CONSUMED one of my bio-tissue components ... but, get this... the schematic did NOT count down! So, while I have 16 left on the schematic in my datapad, I do not have and cannot make a full run of 999 supplements because the FACTORY ATE 16 of the Bio-engineer supplements. And yes, I am QUITE sure I had a full run because I counted it before I started and I had full crates with the exception of the one crate of 24 since I made a schematic. You have any idea how long it takes just two people to get that much meat? Please change the way factories consume components. I'm giving up any hope of getting that reimbursed, mostly because CS isn't very good about this kind of stuff. But, it would be very nice if it could not happen again. Thank you.

Are you sure that this a random number? I could have sworn that when I looked at my factory deed there was a storage limit listed on the deed the same as with a harvester. Unfortunately the deed is the only place this number appears. This number probably depends on the resources used and might explain why everyone has a different point at which they get this error. I don't have a deed available to check but it might be something to test out.

every time the factory stops due to this error... you effectively LOOSE 1 finished unit from the output hopper...

it makes the item... then figures out that for some unknown **edit**ed up reason... the output hopper is full... and then the item it just made is lost.

I've gotten to the point where i never leave something in the output hopper. i always remove it before i start a new run of something. even if it's just 40% full.

Yes each time the resources for 1 try are eaten. Thats pretty annoying.

And the storage hopper size: well my factory showed something like 1700 i think

50 crates a 10 powerups are far away from 1700.

even adding the 2 items in my input hopper (1 stack metals, 1 stack chemicals) just adds up to 502. And the factory ALWAYS stops at exactly 50 crates. All my factories. No matter how much is in the input hopper.

Then i can make a full run of alcohol or BE Additives, thats 1000 items, but because they are in crates of 25 thats only 40 items, and the factory's fine with that.

Really hate such bugs...
