Thread: Dessert Chefs VS Rich Chefs VS Your Average Joe Chef

First of all, we have three groups in the title, right? It's crucial that we make an important distinction--which of those groups is the most important? Which encompasses the largest amount of players?

Why, your average Joe Chef, of course.

Most chefs aren't rich. If they are, then they almost certainly have a PA to cater to, have alternate combat or scout skills, and/or are powergamers who have an exvessive amount of free time. To really gain money, you have to have one of the three things above. These are your Rich Chefs. There aren't many of them.

Most chefs don't do desserts. I'm sure most take Mixology because it is the most practical line for making money. If there are Dessert Chefs, they probably have Mixology or Entrees in addition to their Desserts. These are your Dessert Chefs. There aren't many of them.

There's a lot of bickering going on about the issue of 1) Factory Crates and 2) Milk and Eggs. Some people argue that one of these or both of these should be #1 on the list! Others insist that one of these or both of these should be removed from the list entirely, or at least dropped much lower.

Now that we made that important distinction above, we can finally figure out which of these issues really deserve to be #1. Factories don't, clearly. Only Rich Chefs use factories, and we know that there aren't many of them. Your average Joe Chef can't use a factory. Well, Milk and Eggs don't deserve to be #1, right? Only Dessert Chefs, almost exlusively, use Milk and Eggs. Your average Joe Chef sure doesn't use them.

What about the fact that food durations are so short? Or that spice and foraged foods are better than our baked goods? What about the issue of Chef goods being worse than Domestic Arts goods? These are all issues that apply to not JUST your average Joe Chef, but also to Dessert Chefs and also to Rich Chefs. These are issues that apply toall Chefs everywhere...

These are the issues that deserve to be #1.

After reading alot more posts I figure a good combination could be:

#1. Food uselfullness/buffs/duration (something along those lines, these issues effect everyone)
#2. Factories/Medium harvestors
#3. Milk, Eggs and other resources that are hard to find
#4. (?, maybe) Domestic foods/spices/foraged foods vs. Chef foods (though if you take care of #1 this may eliminate #4)
#5. (?) Still up in the air on the 5th

Personal Request stays the same, since that's up to SirVimes.

Don't you think there aren't many dessert chefs precisely because milk and eggs are hard to find?

im a dessert chef

its fine lots of the food requires butter which needs milk

but the best exp food doesnt need milk and if you wanted to powerlevel chef desserts is the fastest line to do in

I basicly stoped making food only tatoonie suunburns till chef gets some attention.

But let me say that desserts once you hit level 2 gets a awsome exp food that cant be compared with anything in Mixology

I dont know about Entries I only have mix 2 dessert 2 and cooking 1

but anyone that is planning to power level there chef.

Go Desserts as soon as you Get the Dweeezle your in to almost good exp... well its bad exp for any other crafter but the chef its good exp.

anyone who doesnt know

you need to make a Pastrebread which is 95 exp

when you use the bread you get 47 xp

then the dweezle when you make is 210xp or something around there have not made it in a week or 2

then because I used low Quality resources it comes in a stack of 1

I fill up a back pack with them

then make a Macro

"Free Food , please eat it if you are not eating anything else it will help me gain exp and the buffs will help you a little"

well people can eat 3 of them so each time they eat I get about 104 exp so every person gives me 312 exp

Funny how I describe the "Rich chef" in every way, EXCEPT I have no money. I'm a member of a large PA, I play long hours daily, and I double up as a pistoleer. I still have to run missions to get money to run stuff. I currently keep factories as a luxury, because I dont want to grind constantly. In one pair of combat missions I get the money to run them both for a day. I think that's worth doing so that I dont have to sit there on my ass grinding away wastril bread/dweezel/ithorian mist. I like killing the tedium between harvesters by shooting random animals on the way. Going on the occasional large hunting party is fun for me. So me being apistoleer is a pure by-product of what I like to do while I let the factories do the boring xp grinding. It also suits me well since it means I dont have to run AS MANY missions to make the money to keep my house in one piece, and my harvesters and factories running. Then when I want to go sell stuff, I can make a reasonable amount of buffs by sitting around 10 minutes(4 crafting stations open =60 items in about10 minutes. More than enough to be prepared)at a medical station and going to my vendor/the bazaar/the cantina. I play this way to avoid being bored while allowing myself to increase levels at a quick rate. By grinding missions an hour or two a day I get to avoid sitting on my ass grinding out wastril bread, which isnt fun for me(maybe you like grinding. I don't).

I may be a powerplayer, but I am definitely NOT a rich chef. And I dont know anyone that is.

with 10 floras, 2 heavy's, and a factory, it's impossible to hold any amount of cash for long.

Wish i had a PA to help me out though.

I only see two kinds of chef:

The Roleplay Chefand the Support Chef.

The roleplay chefwants to make cakes and drinks and serve them at bars and wants to have animations for people eating so it will look cool. He renames "Jawa Beer" to "Gungan Beer" if he's on Naboo because he figures that makes good roleplay sense.

Thesupport chef wants to produce large quantities of useful buffs so that he has something truely useful to give to his guild. He renames "Jawa Beer" to "STR/STA Buff" because he doesn't care what it's called, he wants people to know that it's a useful buff.

---

Average Joe Chef, I suspect, wants to do both. Sometimes he wants to serve Jawa Beer in a cantina, but sometimes he wants to go hunting and give his party stacks of one-hundred "+150 STR/STA Buff" so he'll feel like he's really contributing.

IMO, that's why factories are the #1 concern. It's not a "dessert vs rich vs average" situation, it's usefulness vs roleplay. If Average Joe Chef wants to make a useful item that he can help his guild with in a material fashion, then he needs factories to work correctly. Roleplay Chef doesn't care about factories, but then, Roleplay Chef doesn't care much about buffs either.

Oh: easy money as a chef (or anyone).

AFK sampling. That's how I get my cash. Barring that, just use metal harvesters.

You mine up 3000 copper. Seperate it into 5 stacks of 600 copper and sell each stack for 3000 on the bazarre. If you picked a good metal (very high quality or is a specific metal like "polysteel copper" needed for Spraysticks) then it will sell no problem. Bam, 15000 credits and you didn't break a sweat!

In my experience, organics don't sell as well, but pretty much any metal will.

I think Ore would sell especially well, because a lot of buildings require a LOT of ore.

So saying a "rich chef" is one that owns a factory is a laugh. Anyone with a metal sampling tool and some time to spend AFK can afford a factory.

And any chef that wants to provide a useful service wants a working factory.

Don't you find it depressing that there are artisans out there with enough money to buy your resources at 2+ creds each, where a chef has to afk sample and sell extra resources to afford just one factory? Not that I'm disagreeing... I just want to support myself as a chef alone, not with missions and selling resources.
