Thread: So.....Are U Chefs Loaded?
most chefs have....
10+factories
20+harvesters
3+houses
6 vendors
and not enough time to keep everyone happy
I currently run 15 factories, 30 harvesters, 4 houses, 1 cantina, 3 tents, and 6 vendors
I've said it many times and i'll say it once again.
If you want to be a chef just to get rich quick, your barking up the wrong tree.
Its a high stakes game and you don't have the chips to play. I routinely spend 3mil a week just on resources alone. I have at least a couple mil sunk into my capital investiments such as factories, houses, harvesters etc. One 20 crate order of BE tissues from a BE is going to cost you 1 to 2 mil usually.
Do I make money from my business, darn right i do, but i didn't do it overnight. It took me 6 months of very difficult work scrimping and saving, scouring the known universe for good resources, working my tail off making stuff and serving people and making business connections. It didn't happen overnight.
So, am i trying to scare you off. Not necessarily. If you want to be a chef for the right reasons, you won't mind doing the work and paying your dues and you'll have a great time doing it.
But if you think you are just going to grind in a few days then set up shop making millions, go somewheres else. You'll work you tail off as a chef, it will probably drive you nuts, nor will you have the necessary capital to rake in the big bucks in a quick time like you think you will. Go set up some mineral harvesters like everyone else and rake in 25 times the profit what it costs you to harvest it for sitting on your keester. Money is so easy in this game to attain and being a chef is one of the most difficult ways to choose if thats your goal.
They gave me the same line when I asked this quesiton.. Millions will flow through you, you will make money but contnue to spend money. I was a holo grinder who ended up liking chef, so I kept it. Yes it will make you rich, anyone who is a master chef can easily maintain 10-20 million in the bank at anytime. I only use 4 factories, 1 house and 6 harvestors, (2 factory lots i rent from a guild mate). Chef is easy to make money with but I would think that any master crafting profession will give the same economic results. Pick one that you like and you can become rich. Don't pick the one that is hotthis month, Just stick with it and the money will roll in as you get better.
You evidently missed my point. I never said money wasn't there to be made. What I said was that it doesn't happen over night. It takes money to make money. Just obtaining the money to build the infrastructure can often take months. You can't really make money unless you can make crates. You can't make crates unless you can afford a factory. Factories usually run 60k or more. For me, just getting that first factory was a huge hurdle. I got it because I wanted it badly enough that I was willing to work hard enough running dozens of missions a day for weeks just to get it.Then the harvesters big enough to support a big operation. Seemed like it took forever before I could afford the 150k for that first heavy farm. Again, my point, it doesn't happen over night. Can you make money as a chef, absolutely. If you want it badly enough, you'll do the work to get it. But there are easier ways to make money, believe me.
The only people I have seen be able to just grind chef in a few days and set up shop doing millions of business is those that already have a huge bankroll. I certainly didn't do it, and most of the other chefs did either. It took me 2 months just to earn back all the money i spent on grinding materials while getting my name known well enough to start doing a big business.
I currently grow my bank account about 1 million a week after expenses, which I consider good enough. I am priced near the low end on my server, not the lowest, but certainly not overcharging people. I do pretty high volumes. I've been a chef for over 6 months and I have never had 20 mil in my bank account, though I am a millionaire.
Again, there are many ways to become a millionaire in this game. I worked my tail off about 40 hours a week for the last few months focusing on being the best chef I could be for my customers. If thats you cup of tea, you'll have a great time doing it. Don't focus on the money, it comes with doing your business well and treating customers right.
My answer to this question was clearly aimed at someone that is starting out and doesn't have a big bank roll. Not everyone does, you know.
How does a player have all of those factories and harvesters and houses, etc etc? I was under the impression that we are limited to 10 lots?

I just become a Master Chef 3 weeks ago and I'm 5 millions in the holes already from buying harvesters, meats, resource, BE Additives and I haven't started selling anything yet because I'm still gathering resource.
Chef for me is an expensive Hobby. If I wanted to make money, I would mine resource.
I agree with the other guys unless you are have cash to start and access to cheap resources you wont see anyprofit for awhile. my character is master chef/artisan/merchant i make most of my money selling metals and ore. i am still trying find out how to make my chef skills profitable. they are useful but the only reason i break even is my resource business thats it. it s kind like RL you have to start real small.
