Thread: Broken Food and Drink Stacks (Workaround)

There is currently a game-wide bug that is affecting every server and every chef's food/drink.

Basic Bug: Any partially-used stack of food/drink will become inediblefor your next game session afterlogging out.(Some reports even mention "zoning/reloading" as a trigger for this bug).

Workarounds: There are three basic ways that this bug can be fixed or avoided.

  1. Never log out. Problem is that the server eventually goes down for scheduled maintenance introducing the bug to your food.

  2. Eat all your food before logging. Not particularly practical if you have stacks of 10 to 15 of something but as the bug seems to only affect partially-eaten stacks this would eliminate the issue.

  3. Fix the bugged food for your current game session.

    • Place the food on the ground in a building where you are an admin.

    • Target it.

    • Type /eat.

    • Pick it up.

Using #3 will clear the stack of food for your current game session. If you don't own a building, ask a friend (or the chef from whom you bought the food) to temporarily add you to their building's admin list.

On behalf of all the SWG chefs, I apologize for any inconvenience. We are hoping that this bug gets addressed as soon as possible so that you may once again go back to enjoying your food without having to eat off the floor. It's just not sanitary.

Cheers,

Kaizen Jonzun

Thanks for posting this.

The thing about the bug is that it does not happen every time with every food. Fortunately it has happened only rarely with me and my customers.

The issue, and workarounds are well documented and known for about 2-3 weeks now, and no sight of a fix :/

About 75% of my sales, the customers report this issue. They are still buying, but are extremely annoyed that nothing has been done to fix this issue.

90% of the people playing never read these forums. Let alone come read the chef forums just for the heck of it.
I didn't know about this bug till a couple days ago because I havn't ate any food in such a long time.

I went to my house and dropped my food/drink but did not realize I have to waste a charge by /eat /drink right away. =/

It would sure be nice if a dev or Holo or someone at least acknowledged this bug and said a fix was in the works.

Anyone? Dev? Holo? Bueller?

Xahn has promised us that he made sure the appropriate developer is taking a look at this.

Don't worry, jmatt, crates don't get bugged. So if you peel off a stack of 5 sunburns, the crate is ok. If you then drink 2 burns and log out, the remaining 3 in that one peeled stack may be bugged, requiring the workaround. The drink doesn't always get corrupted immediately (I had a 12 dose sunburn stackmade frompre-patch starshines that lasted 3 logouts), but once it does the /drop & /eat is required.

One thingI've been doing since this bug popped upis lower-quantity stacks, with more experimentation into duration and buff size. My current standard sunburn is 4 doses (since you can drink two at a time, this will work for two separate mission runs), with a duration of 450s (maxing out the Flavor&Texture) and buff of about 1750. I'm selling these for 1k each, and have been doing somewhat ok.

I have a crate of 25 sunburns. I drank one. Are the rest screwed?

What's a fighter supposed to do when he wants to use one out in the wilderness? I don't have a house, and if I did, it certainly wouldn't be anywhere near where I need my Burns.

I sometimes get the feeling this game is being coded by monkeys randomly pounding on keyboards.

Thank you very much for such a great writeup. I'm one of the few chefs on Tempest, and had gotten some very suprising reports after starting to produce crates of Sunburns.

Now I can warn the customers beforehand, I'll probably make a publically accessible web page with this info (and appropriate credits and drop a visible marker next to my vendors with a short URL to the info to it.

I'll make the page prettier when I get to work, feel free to use:
