Hey--

I used to be a chef back in the day and was thinking about returning to the profession. I wanted to know how in demand foods still are and about how much a regularly working chef can possibly earn now a days. I understand it'll vary per server, but five me some figures. I play on bloodfin myself. Let me know please.

food/drink will always have a high demand... but it seems to me that all the servers are flooded with chefs because they think it is easy, so usually only the ones who actually take the time to make good food can EVENTUALLY make it into the market, took me a good 6 months to establish myself with a reputation even before all these "trend" chefs came up. Don't get me wrong i love new chefs... i just hate the ones who do it cause they think they can make millions overnight with so-so foods.

Foods are very much in demand. If anything, with the recent change to the stomach duration, foods are even further in demand.

well rich is my middle name... I just came back to the game after a year of not playing and still have 6+million credits, so getting additives will be no problem for me. I've always found chef to be a very fun profession and rewarding when you see how much people enjoy using your product. I used to put out new things every week and they'd be sold out in a day or two. It was hard work, but very rewarding... I'm really thinking about going back to it. Any more words of encouragement?

You need more words of encouragement? Let me quote someone:

"I've always found chef to be a very fun profession and rewarding when you see how much people enjoy using your product. I used to put out new things every week and they'd be sold out in a day or two. It was hard work, but very rewarding..."

Sounds like you liked it, when chef ceases to be fun, try something else out. That's what I love about this game!

I became a chef for the get rich quick part of it Well I can say now that I am not rich (damn additives), but I love being a chef. I find a great challenge to constantly improve my foods, and I have more satisfaction doing this than anything else ingame. I also enjoy the fact that I can really help out my fellow guild members with food needs where as before my combat toon could not do anything special for anybody. After 2 months of selling foods I am just starting to make back the inital investment that I spent to start making quality foods.

Chef Vomit, your name doesn't sound appetizing, but I do feel the same way as you about the profession. I think you guys have convinced me... now all I need is that second character slot.

In gross sales, or net profit?

On a good week, I can sell between 500k and 1 million credits worth of food/drink. I'm definitely not a high-sales chef on my server, but I've got my regulars. Of course, I probably spend 1/2 to 3/4 of that on resources (especially meat), additives, maintenance, etc. And then there's my non-chef purchases: armor and weapons to continue my own hunting, buying up loot pieces for recyclers, JTL ship components, etc. My bank account is usually between 1 and 5 million at any given time (I've gotten up to 15mil while saving up for a tape purchase).

I'm sure there are chefs with more credits, but I'm certainly making a comfortable living.

I've been a chef since the beginning. I put way too much time into it. I took a peek at the merchant utility I use to track the emails I get from vendor sales. Over the past 6 weeks I've sold a minimum of 43 full crates and a maximum of 93 per day. Sales average around 14m per day with 8m minimum and 22m max. I don't split crates or sell singles as it adds to the complexity of my shop. Most of my foods are renamed toa Coffee & Donut theme which has worked well since Thanksgiving 2003.

I still love being a chef but have recently started raising my prices to thin out my customer base. I can't keep up with 500 full crates of food per week.I would rather charge more than have empty donut vendors. I have my own BE toon as this helps tremendously.I have to buy meat and milk constantly but usually get my own water, crystal gems & flora. My chef has novice tailor for trim components.

We need more chefs on Corbantis... bigtime!

Anyways..Chef is huge! Its a great profession and its possible to have a ton of fun with it. Pick a theme!
