I just noticed that the filling for these 3 drinks on TC just doubled. Instead of hovering around 25 they now hover around 50 for average resources.

With all the changes that made the profession harder and the products less interesting to all the other players, the thing that made up for it was that we'd get something positive for our troubles, that the class concentrating solely on buffs would be able to make buffs almost half as good as Doctors, Dancers and Musicians, which... cure other players and themselves, dance and cure mind wounds and battle fatigue, or play music and the same.

Please, SirVimes, tell the devs that we understand that it's a very small thing for them to change some numbers with a keypress or two, but for us those keypresses mean less business with the additional burden of less fun. There is a point where changing those numbers starts getting a radically diminishing return, and this is it.

Could have something to do with how Vasarian Brandy totally devalues Muon Gold thanks to the contraband system. Although I don't see this as a solution.

It's fine. The old values were above and beyond anything chef had ever made before, and made popping a muon pointless (yes i know you can take both at the same time, but after filling up on the other version of the brandy, taking a muon would be like having a tic tac for your dessert course).

The old brandy was AWESOME. Unfortunately, that means it wasn't balanced... not just against other professions, but against other chef foods as well. The nerf bat did the right thing this time.

If all of the OTHER old pieces of equation would be the same, you would be totally right. However, other things have gotten more difficult and unpleasant, and buff effectiveness would have balanced things quite a bit.

ha so can I revert to my original opinion of this "revamp" now? Yea right like people arent gonna use muon. The whole idea of that is ridiculous. People will use it because its GOOD and it stacks. Just like people arent going to quit getting doc buffs. I can buff people better than muon NOW. I can double peoples stats NOW. This patch wouldnt have made that any different. And for you people claiming it would, then you people really dont know much about food NOW. Excuse us for not agreeing that your ignorance of the current situation makes the nerf ok.

The muon argument is ridiculous. Have you seen what it takes to make one muon? 45 resources of any quality. Just grab crap mix it all together and you got a **edit** nice buff. I have a spice buisness as well, and its the easiest money Ive made by far. I just plop down resources and Im ready to go. One heavy on each resource I need for a few days will make about 10000 muons (or pixies or blue for that matter). However my food, takes high quality resources, plus experimentation, plus sub components. Of course it should be better.

By that fact, its the reason a doctor buff should be better as well. It takes rarer resources to some extent abd it REQUIRES a doctor to be present. The way I see it everything should be based on a doctor buff scale.

Doctor buffs for average of 2000-2500 to all 6 stats

Chef SHOULD be capable of doing half that if his resources permit it for about 1000 to 3 stats using drinks and some other stuff with food.

Smuggler buffs for about 25% (pixie is actually a near equivalent boost as chef food). I hardly think a good all around buff with a miniscule downer timer for crap resoruces is a bad idea. I still use muon, because its an extra 500 to mind stats. This revamp wont change a thing, Ill have my droid carry stuff around, and if that does not work I'll just take it when I know Ill use it. No big deal.

The problem is that dancers/musicians are notbuffing high enough. Their skill needs to be up to par with a doctor's buff. This would make my last three statements make more sense.

You all know that when things were looking pretty bad for the revamp after the initial testing results were coming in, I didn't say much of anything on the negative side of things, even though i was thinking it. But that was when we thought there were 4 to 6 weeks of testing to get thru and plenty of time for the developers to respond and fix things. I have to say now, with predownloads already being made, and probably a couple days before all this goes live, im pretty hot about how the devs pulled the old bait and switch.

Nikki your right. You've every reason to be upset. And Neni, you state your case excellently. I'm in agreement with these statements. This is total nonsence. Sir Vimes, I know you have to be completely frustrated with this.

Overall, I'm happy with almost everything in the patch in principle, but the devil is in the details. I'm not sure how saleable a plus 300 mind buff is going to be in comparison to a 500 to 600, and since they removed all the foods that went with this in combination, it really weakens it. Same for the other stat buffs. There isn't a very good replacement at all for Tat Sun if they proceed with these nurfed numbers.

After all the excitement when everything was looking like it was good news, i just dropped over 2 mil into resources last night trying to get prepared. Now im beginning to wonder how long if ever that it will take to earn that back. Long gone may be the days of million cr a week fishak sales or any equivelent. Strap yourselfs in for a rough ride folks.

Im getting a bit fed up of this rollercoaster ride with the chef revamp.

Chef are the only profession that purely makes buffs, therefore our buffs should be higher than any one elses.

Yes, they are portable, so I can accept Master DOctor level buffs, I certainly laugh at anyone arguing that chef items should be nerfed because it upsets smugglers.

I was previously a Master Smuggler and Master Chef. The spice line is the easiest crafting line to complete in the game, and spices are the easiest buff to make, but one of the most powerful in the game, plus smugglers get a combat line, slicing, underworld - now with protection vs shakedowns, spice should in no way outbuff chef items.

The playerbase had just started seeing food & drink as good, when the stack bug hit. We recovered from that, and customers came back & got the stat bug. That got fixed, and we finally started to see our produce wanted in demand. Then the Chef revamp totally nerfed everything on the TC, and people were saying "omg, I wont be buying anymore", then they increase the buffs, and people finally say "wow, thats actually going to be worth buying" - and now theyre nerfing it again ?

I can get a dancer & musician to setperform me in a cantina, and I can get +800 mind, +500 focus, +1100 willpowee buffs in 5mins that last up to 2 hours, so how is the possibility of +1200 MFW unbalancing ?

I dont know what to think any more about this, but if it does end up as a Chef, nerf, they can take the patch & shove it.

I've done a little reading in the _In Concept_ Forum. It has struck me that we really missed out by never getting a period of time in which to discuss, in front of the devs if not exactly with them, what exactly a chef should be. My initial passive negativity towards the unvamp was mostly in the fact that it failed to _be_ _conceptually_ the profession that we had been talking about for months.

Bait and Switch might imply a motive that wasn't really there. But it sure smells like that.

Anyway, our window came quickly and is now about to close up for a very long time. I just shrug and move on.

This has been my argument all along.

CH got an in depth discussion with the devs, DE are getting it etc, but as usual, the devs can't show us the courtesy of speaking to us.
