Well did my research, should have all the materials I need on hand tonight.

I will be master chef before friday! (estimated 12-13 hours of tube time with a friendly little macro).

This is my 3rd holo class, pikeman were friendly, Droid enigineers were real @ss's ... seems like Chef's hate holo chef's too... why do crafters hate us so much *shrug*.

I just dont get it.

anyway, one star me to death, that is what I expect after the droid boards.

I receive no hostility here yet... and I am technically a holochef. If you come in, join the community, etc., it seems people will be fine with it. The thing that we don't like (and even i as a holochef am annoyed with) is the countless number of posts asking how to grind it out. There are tons of answers all over the board, and all it would take is a little searching. There are even asnwers up top in the big bad chef faq, but yet we still get "How do I grind through this fastest" multiple times a day. Perhaps if sirvimes put a sticky labeled "HoloChefs, read this" it would help, but I doubt it.

No hostility from me. I have received new customers from the holo chefs. They say, wow, I never knew you had this! lol. GL

Just speaking for myself personally...

...I don't hate Holochefs in general, but a lot of them have a real insulting attitude. "Yeah, I hate this class, this class sucks and I want to get through it as quickly as possible...Now help me grind!"

There is also the problem that a lot of holochefs don't really care about making a prophit or keeping their harvesters going long term or stuff like that. So they sell their food not caring wether or not they make money. And the chefs who are actually "trying to make a living" as a chef can't compete with that. Holochefs undercut our prices.

I know not all holochefs are like this...some of them have the attitude if they have to be chefs they might as well enjoy it, and that's cool. But too many are doing what I described above.

I think one of the biggest gripes a lot of the chefs here have, Yazule, is that we have numerous threads on how to go through our profession, like the Big Bad Chef FAQ on top of the forum. We've even answered numerous threads by people that haven't looked through those threads themselves, so the information is out therea lot now.

Others are probably upset that some people appear to come here looking for handouts on resources that we have spent money on or acquired ourselves through long hours of harvesting or maintaining our own harvestors. I'm not saying all, but a few of the posts I've read of this nature, the original poster never made any gesture of restitution to anyone that was willing to give them resources just so they could practice away at useful resources.

Not all chefs hate holo chefs. I made a post to a person that was asking for resources, telling the person that they wouldn't recieve much help in our forums, and I had a couple of chefs call me elitist. So, there are chefs on both sides of the coin.

As for me... yeah, I admit I have a little bit of resentment for holo chefs. One guy in my guild is making the grind to Master chef and he's gotten more help from my fellow guild mates to achieve Master Chef than I have from the beginning of this game. Oh, well. I'll make it there some day.

I do have to point out that SWGcraft.com sucks for this profession, but I have my path up the ladder.

When I had to do pikeman TSB was my bestest friend (besides doc buffs). I have some to a friend though and he got bugged, lol he keeps telling me how evil the stuff is now. I cant wait to make him a case (crate of 24) of the stuff with the name "Gen's evil Tatooine sunburn"

Depends on the person...heres some of the reasons why I dont like holochefs (note this doesnt apply to ALL holochefs but a decent amount)

Heres the things a regular newbie chef would do:

1) Come to the chef forum and read material to find what he needs to do to skill up including resources needed.

2) Scour the forum and go to other chefs websites and browse bazaar and other chef shops on their server to figure appropriate pricing for their wares.

3)Find their own resources or buy their own resources, determine how many harvs power maint etc they will need to harvest it theirselves if that is the route they choose.

4) Take pride in their work and try to produce the best food they can produce.

Heres the things some holochefs do:

1) Come to the forum and dont ready anything, just post tell me what I should do. Send tells in game to chefs also asking to tell me what I should do.

2) Price items for sale at or below cost in hopes of getting their money back. Too much of this makes customers inclined to believe that real chefs are gouging and that this is what the price should be.

3) Ask chefs to tell the the waypoints to a good concentration of wheat water corn fruit so they can place their harvs. Ask chefs how much the harvs will cost to run, power to run, how many harvs they will need.

4) Sell anything they can sell to get some of the costs back, no matter the quality... so many people are uneducated about food already, educating people with food that is extremely poor quality will not help out true chefs but only hurt them because people will say, yea I tried that food and it didnt really help much.

Basically what it boils down to is holochefs dont have the loving care of the profession that people who choose chef of their own will do. And thats ok, I think holocrons making people do stuff is a load of junk personally. But when the holochef comes through, he should try to own the profession enough to research it himself. I understand he wants to get some of his money back, but does he have to hurt the market of the very people he came to for spoonfeeding of how to do things? Things like, well Im gonna run off a bunch of schematics while Im master and sell it all cheap to make my money back...How can that possibly make a true chef feel good about you? And the funny thing about that is, its not the holochefs that research on their own that do this, its the ones that expect you to do everything but turn on the macro for them that do it.

If a holochef comes to me for help and is very upfront about look, I want the fastest way through this, I do not intend to undercut the market and does a reasonable amount of research about chef for himself. I will be happy to help. I have no problems with this at all. The problem comes in with making chef appear a junky profession by producing junky goods and selling them at cost or below to people to get a quick buck back.

Saiteks Uber guide to hating holochefs:

1. They clutter up the forums with unnessecary posts

2. Not all but many mass produce schematics and product taking away from those who actually need the money.

3. The Give me everything you know, but dont expect a grateful attitude, attitude.

4. I will stress again the inability to find anything for themselves on the forums.

5. They contribute nothing to the community, they take but never give.

The irony is...the holochefs themselves push out all the useful information by their unneeded posting. What was on page 2 for easy reference now is on page 6....

Personally, I believe the Holo-Chefs are the ones driving up resource prices on the bazaar. 10cr per unit for wheat, oats, of grind quality is insane, and the profit on making items purchasing at that rate is non-existant.

There is this wheat called "Wace" in our galaxy right now.. i forget the stats, somewhere between 300-600 oq/pe... anywhere from the sub-par to really bad range. Its selling at around 6cpu to 10cpu on the bazaar now. My jaw hit the ground when I saw this, but it all sells out...

In addition, the first holo-chef to come to the board was a real jerk, saying that he would master the profession in two days and calling us a bunch of whiners. He kind of runied it for all the others who followed.

I still have a hard time thinking positively of holo-chefs, but I try to be cool. But that guy...

I've personally had bad run-ins with some holo chefs on my server ingame. While I offer free training to anyone who wants it (it costs me no time, money, or effort, so whatever) 3 different holo chefs have demanded much more of me for being one of the more visible chefs around. I've had to even /ignore one person for demanding free resources all the time. I've even had a novice chef ask about where resources came from...he had never even looked at surveying or harvesters before.

-The grind drives up prices for any resource (since holo chefs are generally incredibly wealthy). 5-10cpu?? that's what 100k lots of wheat and corn are going for right now for immeadiate delivery

-The threads of "I need to get master as fast as possible, tell me what to do" are particularly frustrating (and there are a lot of them).

-The complete lack of understanding about the effort involved. I've met two chefs looking for hands free macros, and after I explained the user agreement, still look for them anyway.

-Finally (and most importantly), the screw it all mentality that most holo chefs exhibit where doing my profession is the worst thing that could have happened to them, and I truly believe they look down on career chefs.
