Thread: Complaint about masters

And I mean ALL master crafters....for those of us who didn't get a dozen factories in July, and exploit the 100% exp bug...I'm friggin pissed! These people went out and exploited a way to power level. Then the devs 'fix' it...but leave all the master crafters as is.

Does anyone else feel totally screwed? I know as a chef, I decided I'll NEVER master the profession...instead just taking the mixology line so cantina goers can at least have a drink while they watch the porn....I mean the entertainment.

and if I ever need those points for something important...like...anything *useful*, I'll prolly drop chef.

I was really stoked for it...but hanging out in these forums and seeing how many months it'll take me to get Mix 2....and feeling super jaded by the dev's mistake...and then the hosejob 'fix'....I lost most of my zeal for the profession.

Just about wanna ditch it and go take up Image design. At least I don't have to burn 20k in resources for a level in that.

Just in case you aren't a troll, hear this. I've never used a factory until recently, I started early July, and I have 9 chef boxes. It's not that hard to do. Just buy tons of wheat, corn and water and grind your way practicing Ithorian Mists. If you are talking just out of envy then I wasted my time answering. Good luck anyway.

I was waiting for this...

Listen, and listen well...I bought harvesters, and used them. I NEVER exploited, not once.

I am a Master Chef as of last week, and got it all. The only thing that I feel gave me an advantage was the pet consumption usage XP. But, I reported that in the bug tool the second week of the game, and never heard a reply, so I continued doing it.

I admit, I have a great guild helping me. When I needed resources/cash/anything, they were there to help. But dont think, just because you cant, that everyone that has is an exploiter.

I have played 6 hours/day on weekdays, and 12-18 hours/day on weekends, on average, and most of it was spent crafting with 4 crafting tools in a row, just grinding away.

I tried to run as many missions as I could to support myself financially, but, because my guild needs a chef, they helped me, and you would have to be stupid to refuse support.

Quit your whining, grow up, and live with the fact that some people have more time and a better support network than you.

Not everyone higher than you is an exploiter.

I did all the work myself. I got a couple of friends to lend me lots.

I did 5 boxes by factory, and then the factories got nerfed. I did the remaining 11 boxes all by hand.

I agree with the stop whining sentiment. Yes, it does suck to no longer be able to factory grind, but honestly, its not all that much worse. You had to stay near the factories for the whole time, and you can grind ithorian mists by hand about ten times faster than the factory does it(144 seconds each in factory. I can do 4-5 per minute by hand easily)

I went from 0 xp in novice chef, to 4 boxes in one weekend all by hand. Not everyone cheats sir, and it took me all of 6 hours to get mix II.

Put down some harvesters, and grind. Don't come here under the auspices of being the "poor non-exploiting gamer" when you are just miffed you didn't get to take advantage of the bug.

If you love the Chef profession as much as you say you do, the long road wouldn't stop you. It surely didn't stop me.

Why that's the very definition of cheating. If you reported it as a bug, then clearly you knew it was a bug. You used a bug to your advantage. That's an exploit. The whole "the devs didn't fix it so it must be legal" excuse is a rediculous pile of poodoo. Adults have the ability to ascertain right or wrong on their own. You shouldn't need the devs to hold your hand though it. Here's something that Q posted yesterday:

""Lots of questions have come up about exploits. Basically, when we find out about an exploit, we need to verify it first hand. After doing so, we determine how detrimental it is to the game and look for ways of doing a fix. The fixes sometimes take a little while as we have to research what is causing the bug in the first place. While all of this is happening behind the scenes, the CSRs may be tasked to warn exploiters not to take advantage of the bug (this is spelled out in the Terms of Service that players agree to before playing). We are not going to go on the forums and announce what all of the exploits are. Essentially, if you feel that you are doing something you probably shouldn’t, then don’t. We’ll get it fixed as quickly as we can. Excessively exploiting bugs could get your account banned."
Brassard:: Interesting, but too little"

I couldn't say it better. Preach on. The devs don't have time to answer your questions individually. Your $13 a month doesn't rate it. Nor can they be expected to post on the boards "There's an exploit at X and you guys shouldn't do it." I think they've got a firm understanding that there's plenty of people out there with the same sort of moral fiber that you have.

Good day.

At this point, there's no reason to assume a master has ever cheated in any way. There weren't masters the first week or two, plenty of time to get 10 organic farms up and make enough money to pay for the entire battery of training. Add in most masters are in guilds that offer other support and it's completely expected that there'd be a set of Master Chefs already. I feel like I'm way behind the curve because I goof off, do missions, go see movies, play other games, and generally do other things and I'm already Cooking, Entrees, Mixology IV, with no cheating, no factory xp, no usage xp, no guild, just an iron wrist (don't ask how it developed), the built in macro language and MS Mouse tool.

Complaining about Master Chefs is WAY off base. There are a bazillion more Master Weaponsmiths, Armorsmiths, Architects and combat types out there.

Just FYI, grinding a 4th level box of a tier takes roughly 400 ithorian mists to get.

I can do 5 mists per minute in low lag conditions(try going to a planet with few people... Rori works really well on my server). So a 4th level skill box is only 80 minutes of grinding. It's not all that bad to be honest.

Hear, hear!

I completly agree, I grinded all of cook II and cook III with Ithorian mists. Took me a total of 6 hours. Ideally what I do is wait 3-4 days for my harvesters to stock pile. Go empty them all, then grind what I have.

The other days I spend bartending in cantinas, roleplaying, or making sunburns to stay afloat.

My problem right now is the Domesticated Wheat on Corellia/Starsider is really really good. 500/900/800 stats. I really can't turn my harvesters off of it, but I also don't want to waste it on grinding mists. So I buy corn I find for 2cr/resource and pray I find wild wheat on the bazaar. Water's no longer a problem, as I bought 2 High Efficiency Vaporators and put them on a 58% spot. My SWG character is now equivalent to my real world one; 78% water by volume
