Thread: I'm getting tired, the pending retirement of sciguyCO
It all started here. One year ago tomorrow. And I'm wondering if that's where it should end.
Since I got this position, I met players andother correspondants and devsat the first fan fest, went to the CU summit in Austin (meeting even more corres and devs), met a few star struck players on my home server of Chilastra, and hopefully was a good representative for you guys to the devs. I pushed for fixes (getting a few like wookiee crafter aprons, 30m digestion, and...that's about it). I gave (and will continue to give)my input and concerns about the CU through it's various stages.
There were good times, the chef revamp was a great success (with all due credit to SirVimes and the input he gave leading up to the revamp), the first 50 fill Vercupti, the discovery of Mando wine, and the continuing saga of egb/'''ghhnm;/. There were also some bad times, with old friends leaving, continuing bad blood between chefs and BEs, and a general lack of chef-related additions (due to higher priority bugs, and the fact that for the most part chef works).
I'm not sure how well-known this is, but the devs instituted a six month term limit for correspondants back in November. For current corres, the six months started then, which means I'd bestepping down in May regardless. But the responsibility of being correspondant is starting to feel like a burden rather than a privilege, so I'm really thinking it's time for me to pass the torch on to someone else. A couple other corres have announced their retirement recently (MasterNerfSlayer the doc corre and StGabriel the swordsman corre), which always makes me consider whether I've gotten burned out myself.
And just to keep things straight:
- I'm not quitting the game.
- I'm not stepping down because of the CU. In general, I like the direction that's going (other than some obvious food/buff related concerns). I will continue to be involved with the alpha/beta testing (along with the other blue glowies).
- I'm not quitting chef. My sales have just started expanding to impressive levels (a recent move to a more traveled PC city has really helped), and I have tons of resources just begging to be turned into yummy food and drink.

It is perfectly acceptible for correspondants to re-apply at a future time, so I might be back in this saddle someday.
And it goes without saying that I'm going to be sticking around this board.
I've always believed that chefs are some of the quirkiest players in SWG, both in-game and on the forums. It's been an honor representing you, but I believe that my time is over, and some new blood is required.

Is there overlap with the Corres. team? Or is there a complete overhaul? If the latter, would there not be some confusing times ahead?
What do you mean? If you're talking about the six month thing, that's aper-person term, six months from taking the position a correspondant steps down, the devs don't do a "correspondant wipe" every six months.
And a corre can step down anytime they want. There were some worries about a big turnover in May (since that's when the old correspondants would've had their term up), but I think there's been enough voluntary turnover since then to minimize that problem.
Hope you'll stay around, wouldn't be the same without you.
