Big thanks to SirVimes for compiling these issues. Here are the designers’ responses to the top 5 issues (optional 6th is the Correspondent’s pet issue). Our next publish focuses heavily on overall profession issues. We also should be hiring an assistant community manager soon to be in more frequent and direct contact with you.

fficeffice" />

1) Desirability of Food – Duration of buffs is too low right now for its use. Foraged food and spice are outselling food made by chefs.

We’re going to do a balance pass on all food. This should help us understand what changes to make.

2) Factories – Factories do not seem to carry the same benefit of hand crafting items. Example, hand crafted jawa beer is 3 uses, while factory made is only 1.

This also should be examined in our food balance pass. We’ll look specifically into the Jawa beer issue.

3) Progression of Schematics – Many lower level schematics like those found in Domestic Arts IV are better than some schematics found in the Chef profession. A better progression would be welcome.

100% agree. Food needs a complete balance pass to make it more useful to the game.

4) Medium and Heavy Floral Harvesters – Architects currently can’t craft medium and heavy floral harvesters due to bugs. When selected from the crafting kits, an endless “Downloading Item Blueprint Data from your Datapad” message is received.

This is a bug that we’ll fix. This should be relatively quick. J

5) Milk and Eggs – Milk and Eggs are not prevalent enough in the game. They are rarely foraged and sometimes found on NPCs, but are required in many recipes.

Eggs should be more prevalent through lair loot, milk is in progress. Let us know if eggs are more plentiful as of our last patch.

6) Usage Experience Points – Is UXP working as intended? How does UXP work with feeding our pets?

If you own the pet, you will get no Usage Experience. If it is someone elses pet, you will receive Usage Experience. This way you still gain usage experience from those who use your food to feed their pets.

#2 By the way this is ALL food and drink factory made items it has always been like this and has been bugged since the second week of release.

#4 Whats relatively quickly this item in effect breaks multiple classes so I would think that an item that messes up several classes would have a higher priority.

#6) I have tested this extensively one account is a creature handler one account a cheff I wrote down all types of xp I had and fed my pet about 80 foods of different types and saw no xp gain at all even after logging out for an hour and logging back in.

I hope the chef designer reads this.

First all, thank you for responding.

1) Desirability of Food – Duration of buffs is too low right now for its use. Foraged food and spice are outselling food made by chefs.

We’re going to do a balance pass on all food. This should help us understand what changes to make.

It is just not duratin. It is the over all effectiveness of food in general. I feel that duration should be increased, while others ask that the actual buffs be increased. However, the point is that we want to produce a better product than what we have now. Since you have a better idea of the over all picture I will trust you to decide how to do it (although others might not....sorry) food has to be improved someway!

2) Factories – Factories do not seem to carry the same benefit of hand crafting items. Example, hand crafted jawa beer is 3 uses, while factory made is only 1.

This also should be examined in our food balance pass. We’ll look specifically into the Jawa beer issue.

Ok, thank you....but keep in mind is the problem is not Jawa Beer. It is all food! I just used Jawa Beer as an example (being a bartender, I had just crafted about 50 beers at the time...had it on the mind.) Again, it is all food, not just Jawa Beer.

Yes, eggs are more plentiful. Thank you. I haven't had a problem getting them at all. Something I realized after I sent in the report, however, is that milk is much more valauble. I am glad to hear that it will be in the game soon.

6) Usage Experience Points – Is UXP working as intended? How does UXP work with feeding our pets?

If you own the pet, you will get no Usage Experience. If it is someone elses pet, you will receive Usage Experience. This way you still gain usage experience from those who use your food to feed their pets.

I know that this is what should happen....but it doesn't always. There are a lot of times I don't get any UXP. I think this could have something to do with location.

Again, thanks for responding. Any communication is really appreciated. And I am really happy that #3 and #4 will be fixed soon.

But I just want to stress....with the factories....many peopl feel this is the number one issue and again I want to stress it is all food, not just Jawa Beer.

You need more milk...? More eggs, you say?? Sounds like somebody needs a Farmer profession implemented in order to provide those things!!

Personally, I'd like to see food and drink as more of a very long lasting stat boost, perhaps even several hours? Enough for a character to keep their food buffs on most of the time. Thus doctor buffs and spices could be more of a very powerful yet costly quick boost, while food would be lasting, etc, etc.

These responses are definitely a nice improvement... lets hope something gets done soon.

Q3PO: If you happen to read this, it's not just jawa beer from factory crates that only has one use. All food and drink that comes from a crate is single use only. Even if I make a schematic for 15 uses, from a crate, each item will have one use.

I think we should make experimentation fixes one of our top issues for next report... Potential energy making no difference in most recipes(despite it saying 33%) and duration rarely being experimentable over 30ish %. Since all the initial and max experimentation values are supposed to be the same in most recipes(affected by same stats in resources) the initial/max values before experimentation should be identical

Like many of the other designer responses, I'm quite disappointed with the short answers here. "We're gonna do a balance pass." Umm, when? For the next patch? Some time in the distant future? I feel like the Chef profession is broken enough to warrant the type of response the Bioengineer designer gave: I'm working on it. Major changes/fixes IN THE NEXT BIG PATCH. Now I realize the BE designer went above and beyond with his response, but these responses give us very little hope. You're just now realizing that factories don't work correctly for food? That issue has probably been /bugged in game thousands of times! It is the topic of a large percentage of the posts in this very forum! If your aim with these responses was to lower our expectations, mission accomplished.

J2xC,

I agree that should belong in the top 5, along with broken schematics and the fact that negative effects are doubled.

Also: Q3PO: We've got 100 schematics. There's no reason we couldn't have some weaker long lasting buffs, and some very strong 5-minute buffs. I think flexibility seems to have been intended as one of the chef's main strengths
