Thread: Top Chef issues. *Updated*(06/27/05) Under Construction.
I thought it was a good time to compile our new issues List. I'll start off with the ones i'm most aware with, but please if you discover any new bugs or simply feel we have a issue that hurts our profession post them here. Try and keep the posts civil and constructive, posts in large fonts or caps whining about how we've been nerfed are not for here.
Also you can find the old issues list here. SciGuy did such a excellent (and detailed
) job it needs a link here.
So lets get started. ![]()
*Edit* Add the problems you guys listed.

This is for foods or anything chef related that is not working as intended, will not work at all, or does not work in the way it should. I'll start with the brief list i have.
- Synthsteak, Ormachek and other event triggered foods durations are currently bugged, lasting seconds instead of number of events
- Ruby Biel's duration is currently broken, it lasts no where near it desricbed 20 minute duration, normally lasting no more than 2 heals
- Barrels are still bugged, the quantity multiplyer is broken, and doesn't do anything for the quantity of drinks
- Melee and Ranged Defense foods seem to do little for damage mitigation or Attack avoidance. This could be a side effect of the new dimishing returns fomula on defences, needs more testing
- Garrmorls Experimentation is still bugged. The resources required having no PE means the experimentation on the nutrition stat is severely limited.
- Drink use amounts are not displaying when crafting or on the final product.
- The Chandad "exploit" is still in effect. Specifically, Surveying 1 + Chandad allows you to reset a survey tool's range to Survey 2 level, and it remains set there even after the food wears off. This may also occur with Survey 3 + Chandad = Survey 4.
- T'illa T'ill does not display filling reduction stats (although this hasn't been tested this after pub 17)
Of course if you discover anymore, or anymore occur, please post them here so i can update the list.

Some more bugs off the top of my head...
Drink use amounts are not displaying when crafting or on the final product.
Flameout is another case of the duration problem.
- Bug: The Chandad "exploit" is still in effect. Specifically, Surveying1 + Chandad allows you to reseta survey tool's range to Survey 2 level, and it remains set there even after the food wears off. This may also occur with Survey 3 + Chandad = Survey 4.
- Bug: T'illa T'ill does not display filling reduction stats (although I haven't tested this after pub 17).
- Issue: I think it's reasonable to ask what exactly is "normal" buff stacking (referring to Tiggs's comment in the pub 17 http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=swgpatchnotes&message.id=751patch notes). Players have been having to try to figure things out through trial and error, and without a dev response, there's no way to know whether the behavior we're seeing is intended or if a bug is hiding in it.
- Issue: with the chef revamp, there was a fairly significant reduction in food variety. Granted, we ended up with a larger percentage of useful foods, but it'd be nice to see some old favorites come back. And with the pub 17 change to food stacking, being able to provide more types of non-stat food would help chefs retain a market for food.
- Issue: Food graphics are way too redundant. Every other dessert has that that little "yellow calzone" graphic, and every other drink seems to be a "green bottle". Updating the graphics would make it easier to pick the food/drink you want from a crowded inventory. Also, many players like using food items decoratively, so a larger variety of icons would make that more interesting too.
Oh, and chefs are not getting the bonus from food experimentation tapes when crafting Blob Candy. Make sure to bring that up too. ![]()
Is Garrmorl still effected by gated stats?
Well, for instant-effect foods filling is still viable
For Ormachek if nothing else =/
Not really for stat buffs, damage mitigation and mod enhancing buffs still work the same.
But for stat buffs, I don't know what to say
Yep all these bugs annoy me too.

While experimenting on a Drink, the quantity (# uses per stack) is not displayed until the crafting process is over and you see the product.
Previously mentioned only being able to experiment on one feature through improving the nutritional level. For example, adding a nutrition additive to Vasarian Brandy will only improve the Health Buff, not the Action or Mind Regen stats.
Is Garrmorl still effected by gated stats?
Other than that, I just think the whole functionality of chef food/drink buffs should be looked at.
Putting a hard cap at 20% boost can be implemented better. So that foods don't overwrite each other, they could stack up to 20%. And the Regen boosts should be visible on the character sheet somehow.
Last thing I can think of is all the food and drinks with redundant effects.

Issues
This list is for our general gameplay and food issues. These are not bugs, but things we consider detremental to our Chef experience.
- HAM food buff stacking. With the recent changes to the way HAM buffing foods interact we need clearer guide lines as how they are supposed to be stacking together and to what effect we can stack them
- Artisan foods are simply too powerful, more often than not due to the extremely low fill and high duration of them. Adding to our Duration on more than a few Chef foods would be more than adequate to address the imbalances between the two foods. This Advatage artisan foods have has been further compounded by the new HAM buffing changes, are alot of them are sinlge HAM buffing, so you can stack them effectivly.
- Also due to the HAM buffing changes more skill buffing foods would be a welcome addition. More foods to help with healing, damage dealing or accuracy would be ideal. Also non combat skills such as a chef equivalant of Travel Biscuits for Terrain Negoiation.
- Amazing successes on assembly does not make a difference from a Great success in terms of stats. Where as in Weaponsmith it will give the stats a little boost, it does nothing for chef.
That at this time is all the major issues chefs have. If you have anymore, or more occur please list them.

We need higher duration or lower fills on almost all our foods to be compatible with the Artisan foods. If they doubled the duration of our foods I think their popularity would return. ( I would rather see our duration increased or fill lowered than to see the Artisan foods nerfed. )
Quite Frankly they need to rethink the food stacking. Folks aren't getting enough bonus now to be very worthwhile, I've seen my sales trickle down to only a couple hundred k when before Pub 17 I'd worked back up to a couple million a week, before the CU I was doing probably 5 to 10 million a week. If they increased the duration of our foods and drinks I think this would help us a great deal.
They need to add more visibility to what foods are doing for you.
1. Need to be able to see the Hea/th/Action/Mind Regen on character sheet.
2. Foods that add offensive/defensive abilities need to be clearly displayed on either character sheet or in My skill mods.
3. Combat spam(detailed version) Should indicate when food helped you as follows:
You dodged because ofPikatta Pie.
You hit for x, with an increase of x because of Rakrirrian Burnout.
you get the idea...

I would say it is more like a bug than an issue. If devs were to change usage of certain food on purpose then there would be only ONE parameter. It is called FILLING !! As it is for now, i call it bugged. To me it appears that a quick fix for the drug abuse thing resulted in a bug for the food as side effect.
- Artisan foods are simply too powerful, more often than not due to the extremely low fill and high duration of them. my idea : Artisan = long term (40-60 min), small effect food. Chef = short term (most appr. 5-20 min), big effect food
- Also due to the HAM buffing changes more skill buffing foods would be a welcome addition. More foods to help with healing, damage dealing or accuracy would be ideal. Also non combat skills such as a chef equivalant of Travel Biscuits for Terrain Negoiation.
I would say just fix the crazy non-stacking bug, the rest would be "nice to have"
- Amazing successes on assembly does not make a difference from a Great success in terms of stats. Where as in Weaponsmith it will give the stats a little boost, it does nothing for chef.
