Hope you dont mind me popping in for a chat and a cup of spiced tea...
Just wanted to ask a few things about your addative buying habits, I dont want a flame fest here or the BE forum, or PriceWars2004, just honest answers.

1) What server do you play your chef toon on?
2) How much do you currently pay for additives?
3) What is the *most* you'd be willing to pay for additives?
4) What would you do if you couldnt get them at the price you wanted to pay?

How much do I pay? Nothing. Picked up MBE.

What is the most you would pay? If they were 118/119 INNs or 88/89 BSNs, I would pay up to 65k back when I bought them. Eventually I found a BE who worked with me on bulk orders. It was a set 40k per crate of 88 BSNs or 117/118 INNs, and he provided the resources. We did this for probably 4 months before he gave up BE.

What would you do if you couldnt get them at the price you wanted? Well....in my case it wasnt that I couldnt find the price I wanted, I couldnt find the quality. After my regular BE dropped BE, I was without a supplier. Luckily, he told me ahead of time and set me up with three full runs of additives to hold me over. I searched for quite some time, but was unable to find another BE with the resources and ability to provide top notch additives in large amounts. That led me to pick up BE as a result.

I dont buy them anymore, but I can tell you that I checked five shops today....and the prices ranged from 35k to 65k a crate. Quality was between 114 and 116 INN. BSNs were 84 to 86.

I have no problem at all with BE's....in fact I have liked all but one I have ever met. I have posted my thoughts on this in the BE forums in fact. Happy to see you over here

I play on Starsider, same as Vomit.

I currently pay anywhere between 40k-50k for BSNs bought from BEs. And ussualy I pay between 40k-80k when making my own (I pay my hunters well so I get good quantities). Heavies go for 50k-65k if bought from BEs. My own ussualy cost me 50k-100k.

Most I'd be willing to pay is 100k for Heavies, and 60k for Mediums.

The price I am willing to pay is to beyond what BEs are used to getting that I never have that problem. My problem is once again as Vomit said, quality. Problem is that a new standard of quality was introduced a few months ago with this flora spawn which is 96% for BEs. And nothing has replaced, or even come close to it since. And to get people to hunt Endor Wild meat for instance instead of Dantooine Herbivore. I have to pay 80cpu. This is considering that docs are already paying 60cpu for the Dant Herb.

2) It varies depending on a few factors (particular BE I'm checking the vendor of, tissue stats, etc). MNSs go for 25-35k, BSNs go for 35-50k, INNs go from 40-60k per crate. I've also come across a couple BEs who'll do schematics, cost to me then is roughly 25-100k for the schematic plus the cost of the resources. Since I gather my own flora, this breaks down to about 10-25k per crate, after taking into account factory time.

3) Honestly, since the cost of the additive gets included in the cost to the customer, this really breaks down to what the customer would pay for food. Although if I'm competing against Chef/BEs (or Chefs with a freebie BE alt or guildie) then food prices would be a bit more static. I think the absolutehighest BSN cost I could afford while still making a profit on Brandy would be around 80k per crate. But I would b**ch and moan about it, especially since that would mean that I'm less able to provide enhanced versions of food with a lower profit margin.

4) Did you see the "b**ch and moan" comment above? Yeah, more of that.

Honestly, if BE prices get too high, only the high-volume chefs would be able to afford them, giving them even more of a corner on the market. What effect that would have on the food market, I have no idea. Maybe more non-enhanced food would get used, with enhanced food being just for special occasions (I think the original intention).

3) My normal tissues are 85/115. Most I would pay would be 30k/40k a crate. Lights probably 30k as well. At 88+ I would add another 15k on there.

4) As I mentioned above I don't actually buy them now. I believe I would try to buy them from BEs although to keep up my current level of production I think it would just be more annoying than I would deal with. I don't doubt that I could get enough tissues on my server, but I do doubt they would be from one person.

BE tissues already take up most of my time making them. I would have to have confidence in a BE that they would be able to keep up with the meat demand. Since I was having an issue with this, I don't doubt others have the same issue. I know how much time crafting requires in this game, and would not expect people to drop RL things to do things for me ingame. Since BE tissues are not something I can just order and get them quickly(they take 2-3+ days) there is a much larger lead time commitment than artisan or tailor components and therefore if my primary BEs are not able to get tissues to me, I'm out of luck. I think it is a hassle that I don't believe I would want to deal with and would probably just give up chef.

I would buy them actually, if I knew off any place that sold them, never really shoped for them. Probably 40k for the mediums, maybe 50k if they were 88s.

4) What would you do if you couldnt get them at the price you wanted to pay?

Get a new pet wookiee, which already runs in the millions with all the wookiee toys that are required to keep him happy. 6 mil for a power hammer, blah. Seriously I would go hunting for the meat myself and harvest the resources myself.

To the Starsider Chefs, what quality do you usually find on vendors and what quality are you looking for?

#2 Nothing I have an alt that is a BE and a friend that is a BE that will make schematics for me.

#3 I wouldn't pay for them at all considering I collect my own resources and meat and all they have to do is make the schematic and give it to me. All the cost falls to me, if they don't have the time then that is fine I'll wait until my friend comes on, or now like I said I will make them myself.

I have had a couple BE's make me the schematic for free before, like I said I am providing all the resources and meat, so when they have time they are willing to just burn out a schematic for me. This way I can provide my Foods for a cheaper price then anyone else I have ever seen on Lowca, in fact about half the price as the next cheapest vendor.

Every vendor I have ever been too has been completely useless to me, Except for one. And the best that one had was 86/116s.

Problem is most vendors, even if they sell 87/88s (not worth it in their oppinions), they sell out in an instant.

Everything I got was either a custom order, or a few friend BEs telling me they made this and this batch of 87s and whether I needed it or not.

2) 50k/schematic. I refuse to deal with the hassle of traveling and transporting hundreds of crates.
3) As I stated, my issue is time/convenience, not cost. If a BE were willing to deliver 87/117s, I'd be willing to pay about 1.5/2 each.
4) Grind BE. In fact, I'm currently doing the FS quests on a friend's alt so I will have the option of picking BE up on the extra char, should I need to.

2+3. I dont know what I pay, I have always provided the guild bio engineer with all the materials, the use of the factory and give them whatever cash they may need

4. I will pick up bio engineer on an alt before I actually Pay a non-guild member.
