Thread: Well, I finally did some crafting since the Dancer buff implimentation...

247 experimentation attempts and 2 hours 45 minutes to make 5 Pikatta Pie schematics. This is a far cry from what I can normally do in less than 50 experimentation attempts. I will be doing Vegeparsine and Mandalorian Wine tonite. I am hoping that this was an aberration and not the norm.

I have seen posts of people having similar problems and some saying they have not noticed a change. I make nothing but amazing success schematics and I am wondering what Chefs that do the same are experiencing. It looks like there has been some kind of neff to some crafting bonus in some way. I am not sure if it is to the city bonus of force sensitive bonus, but something is up.

If this is now the way it is, I don't think I will be a Chef much longer. It's a shame because I think my tome here in SWG is short-lived if I don't have my Chef. Jedi and Bounty Hunter simply don't hold my interests for very long and I have done everything else.

Which buff are you using? The Artisan one or the Chef one? With the Chef one I've had no where near as big a problem as you're having, and i know we use a similar method.

Very confusing.

I am pretty tired of the whole entertainer thing myself.

Every other service in the game can be purchased at a vendor 99% of the time(with the exception of a custom order or a slice). The former is to accomadate thehuge differance in play times of all people. Having to rely on another player ....and one being at their keyboard for a service is just not realistic in an MMO.

Out of curiousity, have you played any other MMOs besides SWG?

Ok, it's not a "service", but I had some friends who were big into EQ who were always complaining about having to wait (sometimes up to a couple of hours, which always boggled my mind) for a "tanker" or "nuker" to fill out some raid group. From what I've heard (SWG is the only MMO I've played) SWG is much more solo friendly than most MMOs. The entertainer buff is the only time a crafter needs (and the level of that need is iffy at best) to interact with another player face-to-face.

I'm certainly not trying to downplay the issues at hand, it's just that an attitude against interacting with other players in a game specifically designed for multiplayer just strikes me as odd.

And as a tip: have you tried checking for cantina registrations? It's usage seems to come and go with entertainers, but it's worth a shot. If you go to the planetary map and expand the cantina category, some will have a crescent moon symbol (no entertainers registered there) and some will have a sun (an entertainer has registered their presence). There's no guarantee that the registered entertainer is ATK, but they are generally more likely to use the registration feature than AFK entertainers.

I am certain that it was a Chef buff. When I moused over it, it said Chef. You already know my position on how I felt about this before and I am very unhappy with the changes now that I have experienced them.

Another interesting note. I was going to try to make a few vegeparsine schematics today at lunch. Unfortunately my 200 million credit a month food service came to a grinding halt and was brought to it's knees by something as trivial as AFK.

I know they already have the code for dancers and musicians to be able to record their performances and place them on vendors for sale. That way we could buy the recordings and buff ourselves when needed. Why in the world would they not impliment this?

I have several answers, all of which revolves around LA, a certain expansion and $$$

Lame. Of course, I'm somehow not surprised.

I leave my dancer afk dancing in the Anchorhead cantina a lot - there's never any other ents there because 95% of them hang out in the Theed cantina, and it used to be nice for the little newbs to come through & get battle fatigue healed or get an xp buff.

One time I said something about being afk in AH (in regard to something that happened there) and I got flamed for being afk. My response was "well maybe if you weren't ALL in Theed gabbing and not anywhere else in the galaxy where people might actually NEED you then I might not need to be afk". Shut them up pretty quickly.

I don't mind the buff that much but I'm sure if I didn't have an ent I probably would.

I think it was something like 6am and obviously I checked the dancer channel, MO, Theed where the dancers normally hang out and I thought I know, as a respected member of the community I can post on the Chimeara Boards so I did and then when I found one, I just added another post saying nvm and that this sucked.

I wouldn't mind but it's not like I am anti ent. I tip well and always stay and chat....but I see this buff as a huge hassle....we;'re already dependent on BE's as it is.....

If we are going to list what we are dependent on then you gotta list tailor, artisan, and scouts in the mix. What the hell, why not add dancer to it. Maybe they can have us need a swordsman to open containers of resources for us or even commandos to get the fire going in the oven. This buff thing sucks and needs to go away.

QFE!

I quite liked the buff as it was before and still used ENts. Need to finish grinding my own dancer but means I can't have both Chefs logged in at the same time without buying a new coimp and I am not THAT addicted!!

Actually I have played many MMOs before SWG.

Interaction is good between players I agree. But not forced interaction like this instance. Unless you can on log on to play your Chef during prime time hours you chance of finding a Dancer (who is at the keyboard) is slim.

I just fail to understand also how me or any other chef for that matter going to a cantina to "interact" with a dancer for five minutes is making my game play any more enjoyable.

The entertainers cried and cried and SOE gave them a better system. Before anyone could just watch an AFK entertainer and heal their BF or get a craft buff. So SOE changes it so the class specific buffs require the entertainer to be at the keyboard.

Guess what ?

Its not working. Seriously how can it possibly be fun standing around a cantina waiting for crafters ?

Its not.

Hence the problem.

It was a lot more realistic before the CU massacred the noncombatants. Oh sure, granted there were way more AFK entertainers than ATK, but at least the cantinas were not depopulated. I dropped into the Coronet cantina last night to be semi-AFK while folding laundry, and there was just one person there, and maybe a half-dozen in the whole city. Never thought I'd be nostalgic for ye olde days (all of 6 months ago) when it was hard to walk around in there.

I have never liked this buff and the results I get are not that much better. In fact the only difference I notice is a +1 on my vegeparisine.

I must also admit that I do not make 100% amazing schems. I run an experimentation per 2 pts and i avaergae 2-3 amazings. Unfortunately I don't have time to be spending 2-3 hours making 5 odd schems and I abhor the waste that it would cause in holding out for that amazing schem.
