Thread: Changes on the horizon....

I'm not sure how much you guys catch outside this nice, homey, forum, but something big is coming to testcenter this weekend (provided it's not some massive, ugly, conspiracy).

Post by corre in Testcenter... If you thought the CU was big change, meet it's big brother.

Classes are getting consolidated. Psycho's post mentions four crafter "sub profs" (probably in the "Trader" class). If I had to guess, I'd say weaponsmith and armorsmith are definitely in. But what about us chefs? {and yes, I still consider myself a chef despite dropping the skills}. What about Architects, Tailors, DEs, and shipwrights? Who will be the lucky four? Maybe Weapon+Armorsmith (as a single sub-prof), Tailor+Architect (they sort of go together), Chef, and DE+Shipwright. Or (since Shipwright requires JTL), maybe DE will be the fourth, and Shipwright will be completely separate, outside the "core" SWG.

The part that really depresses me is the nail in the coffin of SWG's skill-based system, it appears to be going fully class / level based.

I'm sure more info is going to get released soon (and as I type this, I see this with updated info, straight from the devs).

Got there before me Sci.

I honestly don't know what to make of all this. Safe to say that after this game will no longer be the game we know.

I'll try and find out the fate of foods, but i doubt i'll be able to get anymore information till friday when it apparently will hit TC.

I'll sticky this for now.

Ok, the forums seem to be dying quickly (I can't imagine how many angry posts, calming posts, and rumor posts are getting sent at this point), so I'll try to get this in quick.

Here's another site with some more information, including details on the crafting setup:

[describing the new "classes"] ... Trader (all the tradeskills - 4 base sets now - Domestics, Structures, Munitions, Engineering)

So..."Domestics". Probably a Tailor + Chef combo? And it's hard to see where armor fits in, it could be paired with either Munitions, or maybe in Engineering...

And further down that page:

This is not something that will be done a week or even a month from now. From what schild [the person providing info to f13.net] can gather, we're looking at 6 months or more before this is rolled out to every server.

So while this is getting pushed to TC quickly, it looks like we've got some adjustment time before it's put into Live.

Sheesh, first the Chef revamp, then the CU, now I'm going to have to update my menu spreadsheet for a third time. Regardless of what I'm ever actually doing in-game, that's something I always want to keep up-to-date for you guys (and myself...).

I guess my question is, how does everyone plan on tackling these changes? Do we just continue with business as usual, knowing that things will eventually be changed, or do we start discounting our inventory in hopes of clearing as much as possible before we have to start all over again?

HOLY MOTHER OF VADER....I actually managed to log in. Been trying to do so for an hour.

Just thought I would share that. I didnt actually expect to be able to log in.

As for the question above, from what I read all crafters will be traders of some sort.

Let's face it, we will all be playing a brand new game, and we just dont know enough yet to get worried OR excited.

So I am going to go have another beer.
