Thread: How to make a living as a chef?
Im a BE+CH and my friend is a tailor, i supply him with tissues to put in his clothes and now he is considering becoming a chef so he has the benefits of my food suppliments. The only thing that is keeping him from taking up the chef profession is his belief that his profession is, ahem, worthless.
His main concern is that it wont be as profitable as armoursmith and that hte buffs just arent as effective (most people go for spice). We'vehad a look at the list of the different food/drinks and we both agree that they appear somewhat pathetic, but then again we dont know the combinations of food you can eat nor how BE will effect it.
Can someone give a slight insight into how effective chef is with BE suppliments, what food/drink combos are effective and actually sell in bulk and how much does each item go for? ![]()
Make the food, they will come......
I know, now what you're asking, but I couldn't resist. ![]()
A chef can make a great living off of just mind type buffs alone.
Other than Sunburns, the good sellers are pretty high up the skill trees. Once there, though, money can be made. I hit master a couple weeks ago, and I've probably made about 750k in sales since then. Of course, I upgraded all my harvs, got a second factory, and placed more vendors, so I'm back down to my accustomed 30-40k in the bank. But I'm regularly selling Angerian Fishak (20k per crate, although I think that's a little low), and with a big carnivore meat order due to be delivered in the next day or so, I expect Bivoli crates to make an appearance.
BE supplements can help, but it's still up in the air whether they're worth the extra cost. Also, they can only be included in a few components, which are used in only about 10% of the recipes. The nutrient supplement (increases duration) is popular, especially since it's a percentage-based increase, making already long-lasting foods even better. The most requested buffs asked of chefs are for mind, since it's hard to find a non-afk musician or dancer to get entertainer buffs. So the tissue that adds to mind (with negatives in action, I think?) would be popular, but I hear that's one of those requiring milk or seafood, so it'd be hard to do factory runs.

I guess the big question is then, is it worth the time and effort to become master chef?
My answer would be: Yes, but I actually enjoy making foods and supporting my fellow players with items that can make them successful. As the saying goes "To each their own."
Consumables have FAR more potential for profit in the long run that any other item.
It is just a shame that Chef needs so much love, or you would see that now.
Give it time though, food will become an integral part of this game eventually.

Put Broad Spectrum neutrients inside glazed glucose pate mainking it +550mind/focus for 750seconds and then inform your customers that if you double-click twice to use the food twice you'll have +1100mind/focus for 750seconds. After that make an Ice Blaster with the +mind -action BE itemat 350willpower for 300 seconds and infomr the custome to double drink like he just douvle ate for 700 willpower.
Tell this to one of those muon gold addicts and they'll wet their pants. Then tell them they can still use their muon on top of that giveing them *drumroll* 1600mind/focus 1200willpower to make them have trouble breathing.....afterwards tell them to find a dancer and musician to buff them another 800 to 1000 points.....starting to look like a mind version of doctor buffsisn't it?

Wow, thats a lot of mind.
Which gets me thinking... i plan on being master smuggler master chef, so i could presumably sell muon gold and all that stuff you mentioned above and make a butt load of money. Hmm....
Well ive twisted his arm into going Chef, it appears the resources are easier to obtain than that of armoursmith (with the exception of milk).
All we need to know now is a good listing of food combos. Ive already checked the thread above but there wasnt much info on what is best to 'mix n match'. I guess this will come through trial and error as he goes through the chef skill, but some early pointers wouldnt go a miss ![]()

Food combos right here.
I dare say if you market yourself well and ALWAYS keep your vendor stocked nicely its one of the more profitable and less stressed professions.
Took me forever to get Master, but in the 2 months Ive been aMaster Chef ive managed to aquire well lets say i have 9.5 million in the bank and ive spent over the last couple of months at least 5 to 6 million.
Sheesh, im beggining to think im the only poor person in this entire game.
