Ok, ive been looking over Chef as a new profession and it looks like a good idea. I am currently a master doc / master swordsman like the other 75% of the server (sunrunner). Anyways, swordsman/doc was fun, I made good cash, got all the loot i wanted, and dominated pve for a little while. Time to try something new.

Anyways, I want to keep swordsman and pick up master chef. This will leave me with exactly 66 skill points. What else should i pick up?

I had in mind some scouting, some surveying, business for a vendor, and a little medic skill. Any ideas? Is there a solid chef template i should follow? All input is appreciated.

Pick up scout and some of the hunting tree. So you can get your meats vs paying for them

Well, a few useful things to combo with chef are:

Tailor Formal wear 1: allows you to make your own trim for casks (although it requires getting a clothing factory). Since tailor is based off the same Dom Arts artisan line as chef, this only requires spending 11 skill points.

Scout Hunting IV: very handy for getting your own meat/hide/bone/milk resources, especially since you've also got the combat skills to back it up. That's 29 skill points.

Business III: allows you to get a single bulk vendor, with 100 items (assuming the limits posted a couple weeks ago aren't changed any more). That's only enough for a very small market, though. Personally, I'm keeping merchant 3000 for the planetary advertising,3 vendors and a total item limit of 750 items. That'll take 37 skill points.

Some chefs take up BE to make their own additives, but that's a pretty hefty point cost, you won't be able to fitMBE into the 66 you need, and lower than MBE really limits the additives.

Survey skills for increased range help when you're looking for a good spot to place harvesters, I'd recommend having at least survey 2.

I agree with sciguy, definitely merchant 3000 at least. I think its essential if you're serious about a crafting prof to get this, as alot of the newer players really rely on the map so you do get a little more trade from it, and the extra vendors and item count would be more than enough for any chef business, unless you deal in singles also.

I'd have to say, you can afford not to take surveying. The extra range is nice, but you can manage without it. I survey for my own resources with only novice Artisan...

Wow, thanks for the input, this is exactly what i was wondering about. Ok, this is what i was thinking would work. This should leave me fairly self sufficient, with really just the need for a bio engineer right?

  • Master Swordsman

  • Master Chef

  • Scout with Hunting 2 (0020) along with some excellent veghash

  • Merchant with Advertising 3 (3000)

  • Tailor with Formal Wear 1 (0010)

  • and Survey 1, leaving me with 1 skillpoint.

Although im really going to miss healing myself in battle, those chokus dont put up much of a fight anyways.

Master chef

Master Swordsman

3000 merchant

0044 artisan

2000 or 0020 in scout....you can go back and forth bewtwwen the two if you need mask scent for milk or hunting for more organics.

ya no medic, I have a swordsman as well. with no medic. good armor and buffs I really dont need it. saying that you can always pick medic up and drop scout anytime really if you think you'll need it

I'm with you on that one... Although for those of us who need to squeeze out every last SP here is an interesting idea...

Become Force Sensitive. Drop Survey 4 (5sp) and pickup the FS Survey line (4sp). It's only 1sp difference, and will take a long time to get, but with my current setup there is not much else to do after I've checked the vendors and moved factory goods around. POI's here I come, although it might be hard to do a themepark with no combat skills...

I think you need 0440 Artistan... How about this:

Master Chef

Master Swordsman

Novice Merchant

0444 Artisan

0010 Tailor (for trim...)

2000 Scout. Supplement hunting by eating some of your own Veghash.

Leaving 1sp leftover. The only thing this looses is the 3000 Merchant. If that is important enough, then find a Tailor friend and drop Tailor, and you can keep 3000 Merchant.

Now if i were to drop tailor and pick up maskscent and hunting2 that would be a working profile. Right now im using survey 1, yeah it sucks, but i can still find good spawns, just takes longer. I haveabsolutely no storage now so i really want to go for the merchant 3, not to mention leaving my mark on the planetary map

  • Master Swordsman
  • Master Chef
  • Scout with Hunting 2 (2020) along with some excellent veghash
  • Merchant with Advertising 3 (3000)
  • Survey 3 with 0 sp left

  • So then I just need a tailor and a bio engineer, which shouldnt be too hard to find. I could do tailor myself, but then it would cost me another lot for the factory, and it sounds like their stuff isnt that expensive compared to milk and meat.

    So, hows it looking?

    3000 merchant

    0040 scout

-Meat is going to get expensive to buy all of it so you are going to want to harvest as much of this as u can by yourself and being master Swordsman is a great way to do so. Many chefs don't have a master combat prof. Also you your vegash on top of this.

-You dont need tailor for your trim because it is so cheap anyways and most tailers will make a schematic for you so you can make your own factory run.

-If you don't need that high of merchant you could move it down some to increase your survey skills. "sciguyCO said, "Personally, I'm keeping merchant 3000 for the planetary advertising,3 vendors and a total item limit of 750 items." Keep that in mind. Planetary advertising is nice but not needed. If you don't need that much item space on the vendor or 3 vendors. I would suggest getting high survey then.
