Thread: Milk and Bantha Butter

Just asking on the scout forum about milking and someone said its boring beyond belief and hardly anyone does it. Hence I can't find decent amounts to make 1000 units of Bantha Butter. So I'm taking my alt and getting it myself. Got 1k so far as the Piket spawns seem to be large with alot of females. Anyway, just wondering if anyone actually bothers making stuff that needs milk or bantha butter?

Pikatta Pie takes bantha butter and the chefs are starting to experiment with the other tissues in crafting so milk is becoming more and more sought after. I have close to 1 million units of it after posting 35 cpu's offers for it on Radiant server so it must not be too hard to collect.

All the time. Pikatta takes bantha butter, and parwan takes 30k of milk to make one batch of additives for it.
If you're out on dant, you should be getting close to 30k in an hour or two with the crazy spawns. You can still find rangers who'll gather it for you, especially if you consistantly pay 10+ cpu for any-sized amounts from any spawn. They like to have a constant income, as opposed to only making money when something is in spawn (like harvesting other creature resources isn't just as mind-numbingly dull as getting milk?).
If you want to use it in butter, buy whatever small amounts you can get your hands on, or contract somebody to get some for you (but pay them more $$ for bringing in a larger stack) and then run them through a recycler. You'll then be able to make a partial run of butter for use in whatever you need, and then as you get more milk, you can keep using the same schematic to make more butter for the next partial batches of whatever you need (generally its pikatta).

but mainly 'cause I don't understand how recyclers work 'cause I have yet to use one.
Oh and my alt is scout 4040 and I can get 100 units of milk max from each Piket. Is this the max you get from each creature?
EDIT- Unfortunatly I can't afford to pay someone to get milk for me, especially if its charged at STUPIDAMOUNTS CPU

I'm not certain but I think the creature's level has an effect to how much milk you can harvest. I'm not certain if the creature harvesting skill has any effect on the yeild of milking. Typically when I am harvesting milk I will get 200+ from most of them. I typically milk level 65-80 pickets.
I'll make some veghash and use it next time to see if +creature harvest has any effect on yeild.
Oh, btw, I am a master scout (+50 creature harvest).

Veghash doesn't affect milking. Neither does a ranger or group bonus, as far as I've noticed.
When I go milking pikets, they're generally high level and I get anywhere from 200-300 units per.

so you mean being a master ranger doesnt mean you get more? so basically to milk them all you need is novice scout?

Its not so much hard to collect as it is boring and time consuming. heck I'd collect all the milk you want for 35cpu!

so its better to have master ranger? as the mod to mask scent is greater.

sorry, wish i could say, im not a master yet. i know the higher mask scent mod lets me harvest milk longer with out having to re-apply and risk spooking the creature. from what i hear cammo is better than Mask scent. and anyone can use cammo.

cammo as in the cammo packs rangers can make?

From what I've heard, master ranger's mask scent is the best. It's not really worth it to get master just for milking purposes though. All you have to do with 2/0/0/0 is click your mask scent twice every 5 minutes or so. It unapplies and reapplies the mask scent, and pikets won't ever break the mask. It's 2 seconds vs. however long it'll take to get to master ranger.
