Thread: Chef listing of foods stats and why mastering chef is currently not worth it.

You forget that with Master Chef comes additional food assembly and food experimentation points. It's not exactly the Master Chef foods that I want, but rather the ability to make exceptional quality/quantity items of those food or drinks that do sell well.

The Master Chef foods also have a lot of items that include multiple subcomponents - when I get there and when I find a reliable Master Bio-engineer to make me top of the line food additives, I'm sure that the Master Chef foods will be very useful.

Trouble is that once you make master, only a dozen or so foods are worth making. Hopefully milk will add this significantly. I will wait another month or two for some positive changes to chef. If I dont see any, I am putting my points into something else.

You know, I just don't know what to say. So many novice chefs looking at our recipes and talking about how much the chef foods suck (Hey! Look back through my posts, I did it myself when I was a novice chef!

I don't blame you, it is discouraging. All I got to say is this:

I'm spending HOURS every day making food and drinks to restock my vendor, cause its selling so well.

Not sure what you want. If you want food for yourself thats going to turn you into a UBERMAN then yea looking at the chef line is gonna bum you out.

BUT if you want an interesting and varied product line that DOES have a customer base if your up to the challenge, then the Chef is a fun and rewarding profession.

I do too, but that really doesn't represent huge demand if you think about it. With factories broken, we have to hand craft everything, really limiting our supply. And dedicated chefs are very rare currently, as it is not a popular class (because it is a tough class with little upside), meaning that for the people who do want food there isn't a whole lot of choice, further limiting the server's supply. For the people who dowant to buy food regularly (a small minority of players I think, especially for things other than sunburn), there isn't a whole lot of supply in the market, so we chefs stay busy.

But selling well doesn't mean getting rich like an armorcrafters or weaponsmith gets rich.We don't make a huge amount per item, and are only going to get rich with the volume that a factory provides, unless we seriously raise our rates, limiting demand. And yes it does limit demand to raise rates. At least half my customers buy food for roleplay purposes and when I try to offer them my more expensive items they balk.

Solutions - the product gets much better (or you focus on selling and maxing out the few products that are halfway decent)- making it easier to charge higher prices or sell more than what we can hand craft at the current prices, and factories are fixed - making it easier to sell larger volume.

I think its a case of glass half-empty/half-full viewpoint. The things you point out are indeed accurate Ida. My only point is that despite the deck that is seemingly stacked against the Chef at this current point in time, we are STILL a viable business class.

Once some of the major obstacles are removed (and broken factories is a huge one) one of two things will happen:

1) Our profitability will skyrocket as factory runs take the 'critical failure' factor out of our business.

2) The market will become so flush with product that the prices will plummet...thereby eliminating the large margin we currently have (and need).

I agree there's the danger of too much food available if chef gets good and the class becomes popular.. and factories are good. However, I'd just be happy to see the class offer something more valuable to hunters. I do this as much as anything so I can make good food for friends, and I'd be happy if I could make them something nicer.

Keep in mind, this list is not 100% accurate for stats, but really close. If you are a chef in the works, look away. It might be discouraging.

This is disturbing. This is a list of nearly all of the chef foods and drinks with stat bonuses. As you will see, a LOT of them have negative modifiers aside from their puny bonuses. The problem is, the bonuses dont last long and just arent worth crafting for profit. Only a few foods ( literally like 2 or maybe 3) are worth crafting and selling. Even then, you get small profits, cept for tat sunburn.

All im asking is to take away the negative modifiers, increase overall stats and especially the duration on the majority of these foods and drinks. Most people dont even want to pay 1000 credits for a sunburn because the duration is horrid. Not to mention its even harder for fighter skilled players who dont have an AT-ST or CH skills to get money now. Also please scale it based on skill. Sunburn is mixology II and is the best thing to make, wth?

You can "experiment away" those negative modifiers, or at least reduce them signifigantly. Heck, just last night I changed an negative health modifier to a health buff!

But yeah, Tat Sunburn at Mix II is wacky. All the time folks ask me, "So, what else ya got like that?".....uh...nothing... : (

only some of the foods can experiment away the negitives others can not even lower the negatives.

Wow. that List must have taken a lot of time to make. I appreciate it... looking at that list, I can see where your complaint comes... But there is a problem. You didn't do food justice in there. I make items that are four times better than what you say they are in there. Did you take into effect Experimentation? Experimentation is everything... Trimpian is a trivial example.. I can get that to 275 Constiution for 300 seconds.... That's huge. you say it's +90 con. for 200 seconds... way off. Mine are still in stacks of five. Acarragm.. +10 health, action, mind for 70 seconds?? are you insane? Mine is 140 to each stat.. and lasts for 280 seconds... Your numbers are WAY off my friend. If this is what you are making, then yes... I understand your problem. However, if you use the 900+ quality resources and some experimentation, there are some GREAT foods out there. Sure, sunburn is our best Action Regen... but it's not necessarily are best item. There are items that each class needs differently. If you are a Chef and only craft Sunburns... then I pity you, because you're missing the point.

Ssauron, thank you for your post. I agree with you 100%. I think people here spend too much time complaining. What I loved about Linchpin's post, was the valuable information it had. He obviously spent a lot of time on it. I appreciate that, but I don't understand his complaint.

As for Ida... what can I say. Did you HONESTLY BECOME aCHEF in order to make as much moneyas a weaponsmith? That was your complaint above.. "We don't make nearly as much as them." (not exact quote by any means) All I know, is that I'm doing fine financially. I don't have 10 quadrillion credits.. but I make a good 75-100K per day. That ADDS up my friends... It's just virtual money anyway, who really cares? I can buy everything I need/want. If it makes you feel better if you have 10 Billion Credits in the bank versus 1 million. I pity you also. That's pathetic. Just enjoy the fun, unique profession of the Chef. If you really want to be a weaponsmith and BLEND in with the million other Weaponsmiths out there... go for it. I enjoy being one of the only Chef's on my server.

No, I became a chef to help my friends out with great buffs. But if my buffs are great I could make a lot more money. But that isn't my primary motivation.

Right now, I help my friends out with great doctor buffs, heals, and occassionally give them a sunburn for when I can't be there (and when the 3 other doctors in the guild can't be there). My chef skills are not nearly as much help to them as I had hoped.

/agree

I became a Chef so I could give people great buffs .. I because a chef because I like to buff people , I had figured the class that is 100% devoted to buffs would make the greatest and most effective buffs in the game...

Perhaps some of us had this idea and were playing the wrong class.

You seem to think I wanted to make the worst posible buff items in the game but hey but they arent that bad because im the only one that can make them and they can stack with the useful things!
