Hi,

I am 0010 now myself,
and I am quite happy with that.

Check out this thread: "Status of the Carbineer Specials"
(it is up with the stickies)

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=carabineer&message.id=15617

The Counterinsurgency gives you early on one of our best specials (, according to the thread I linked, and I like burst1 quite well, too) and it gives counterattack, a working defense skill.

I plan to get this tree up first (along with the specials, which uses combat xp).

Greetz,
Evy.

Unless you like missing... I would suggest you look again at getting 0300 (marksmanship tree) first

I think accuracy can be covered by aiming, using stances, or equipment.

*polishes her 102 accuracy elite carbine*
(133 with powerup )
(ok.., unbuffed it is not very healthy to use specials..)

I think too many people only look at the damage of their weaponry, and skipp the accuracy completely.

When I started, I went for Counterinsurgency 1 first, for the Damage Mitigation 1. Then, slowly but surely, I leveled horizontally instead of a single vertical branch. It just felt right that way to me, not sure why. I kept using FullAutoSingle1 and 2 until I hit Crippleshot. Once I hit Chargeshot1, I used it and Crippleshot exclusively unless under other circumstances.

Of course, to each his own.

Hopefully Nova gets this in the FAQ soon

001X is ALWAYS first. We have three top DPS shots, in order, FullAutoSingle2, BurstShot1, CrippleShot. Burst and Cripple are tied with FAS2 8% higher while leveling. Only when you hit the speed cap is CrippleShot the highest DPS special.

301X or 131X is next. Personally I picked up ScatterShot1 because I hunted in groups of non-Carbineers so I had a better chance of hitting the other pools besides action. Choosing Accuracy over Speed is a real toss up but I recommend getting Speed. It is easier to go Prone or get a Scope on a Carbine than it is to get Speed Attachments.

341X would be next. The 4th tier for Accuracy is +25 and a huge help whereas the Speed bonus at the 4th tier is not that great, +10 I think. And if you go for PvP, which at anything less than Master or BH Carbines is VERY foolish, then go 303X instead of 341X. But even then with low accuracy PvP is tough, but in general a strict Carbineer is tough in solo PvP.

These recommendations are BEFORE Publish 7 so expect some revisions IF they get some of our specials fixed. But for now, you have all you need to level Carbineer at 0010. I have went about 3,000,000 Carbine XP above Master Carbineer (my combat xp isn't capped so I know) and still use ChargeShot1-FAS2-FAS2-FAS2-BurstShot1-BurstShot1....until dead(or CrippleShot if I have my Speed at +85).

Another thing to consider is buffing. During the lower tiers in Carbineer I was fighting weaker stuff to match my level and Novice Medic with some food worked fine. The higher I got and faster I got the more food became necessary. Once I was working on 4th tier skills food no longer was enough and now that I am Master sometimes buffs <1,000 are not enough since I have +25 Carbine Speed Attachments in my Comp Armor.

Accuracy accuracy accuracy accuracy.

Use snow cakes too.

Otherwise soloing in this class (without CH) is just excruciating.

I've got about 50% solo and 50% group time under me.. Carbineering Squad Leader with some Artisan skills so haveno pets, bots or self-heals.

Went from 0010 to 3010 to 3410 and have been doing pretty well. I very rarely get buffed when I'm out solo (I'm a carbineering squad leader, I can't afford a lot of that!) Food is your salvation.

Even with no CH skills, get a 4k Health pet with 10-15 Kinetic Resist to tank for you.

I disagree with a lot of what's posted on this thread.

I recommend moving up the first three branches equally but in the following order at each tier: Marksmanship, Speed, then Counterinsurgency. This way you will have a balance to your combat. Your speed, accuracy, and defenses will move up equally and in proportion.

If you simply must take one branch at a time, I'd suggest Marksmanship, then Speed, Then Counterinsurgency. There's no sense getting more speed or more defenses and specials if you can't hit anything consistently.

Additionally...carry a DH17 Short Carbine for levelling. If you do the Volsted calculations (

What's sad is i'm still weak at Master Carbineer

My pet does more damage then me it feels like...when I kill Stormies and/or other NPC baddies, I keep thinking "Did I kill it, or did my pet do most of the work?"

Once again, I can't wait for combat fixes...I don't want to buy a grossly modified Krayt carbine to be strong, I'm too too poor

Of course, thats why I'm working up Fencer too...LOL
