Thread: I'm sorry fellow Carbineers but this is still a horribly broken class.

We are like Riflemen except we do less damage, are slower, have less AP ability, have fewer special abilities, can't directly hit the mind pool,don't have an attack that directly dizzies,dont have a stun weapon, etc. Pistoleers also do more damage than us, especially with the new Geonosian Stun Sonic Blaster. Full auto attacks rarely dizzy and when they do, they last only 10-15 seconds. Rifleman flurry shot is an attack that has a sole purposeof beinga dizzy attack. Carbineers don't get this and we are expected to be a "crowd-control" class. This is not mentioning our "excellent" defenses.


The are only two reasons for meto keep Carbineer for now- +15 counterattack, and Range Damage Mitigation 3. I could pair Master Rifleman with Swordsman to do insane amounts of damage, or pair Fencer with Swordsman to get ultra powerful defenses. I will stick with Carbineer for now simply because it was so hard to level and I hope the devs fix itin publish 8.

Yes, I will spend 250 points in carbines just so I can beat a Rifleman who spends 92 points in rifles and still have crappy defenses.

You are missing the point. BH/Carbineer is what Carbineer itself should be. Why should I have to earn Master Scout and Master Marksman + another line in BH just to compete with Riflemen?

Its called going master fencer/master carb/med 4.


Its called applying dizzy with eitheir full auto or fencer.


Then KDing and whiping out your baton.

honestly you don't, a master carbineer (assume master marksman and NO other combat skills) is roughly equal to a master rifleman (also master marksman with NO other combat skills), the same is true for pistoleer (only because they only get 1 good special but that's another story)


i'm not just talking out my ass here i've tested this with a few friends


the biggest determining factor in purist battles imho is the quality of weapons rather than skills


carbines (generally speaking) are not on par with rifles or especially pistols

/agree... most rifleman are not SOLELY rifleman.... if they are they're stupid.... everyone spends 92 points on their skills


and furthermore there are way too many factors involved to judge rifleman or carbineer as a class in 1 battle... range, luck, armor, weapons, skill, etc....

Pistoleer damage sucks, period. And pistoleers get 2 good specials after they master it, fan shot (which is the better aoe attack) and stopping shot. Unless you count disarming shot2 but I havn't tried that in pvp, it might be usefull for pissing people off if it works. I dont know about rifleman (or carbineer for that matter) but from what I've seen, neither are horrible fighters.

I was owning in PvP with my carbineer skills last night... the first time i've actually USED them for PvP in months. FAS2 is wonderful, i just spam it till the dizzy hits (usually around the 5th shot) hit AS2 and chargeshot, then run up and beat the crap out of them with my scythe. Much better then running around after all the kiting riflemen we have on this server.

And in what way does this make Carbineers a broken class? As far as I know we only have one special that is still broken and don't complain about the fullauto attacks, I think they are great, how many other proffesions get attacks that can stund/blind/dizzy? You say carbineers have fewer special abilities than riflemen? I find that strange since most riflemen rely on one or two shots in combat while a carbineer got lots of options to choose from depending on the situation.

You obviously don't know how to play Carbineer very well. I just switched back to Master Carbineer from Master Bounty Hunter, because its that much better. Thank goodness I can use stims again.

FullAutoSingle2: Identical to MBH Sprayshot, except it deals more damage, costs less skill points, and sticks states easier. Great for PvE or PvP.
Burstshot2: Deals 2-3k damage to multiple targets? Hell yes, I wiped up a cave of Marauders tonight in minimal time. Kicks for PvE.
FullAutoArea2: Oh yes, an AOE dizzy that works...mix with a Krayt Enhanced E11 and your dealing insane bleed damage over multiple targets, which counts towards XP now. PvE or PvP.
Suppression2: More posture change attacks that a Carbineer can use, posture change AOE is just sick. Try it on a TKM sometime after sticking that dizzy.
Chargeshot2: This is a sick attack when combined with FAA2, just plain nasty when used on its own.
Crippleshot: Im dealing over 850dmg in PvP with this against people with Ranged Mit3. Enough said.
Scattershot2: Yes, I killed someone else using this tonight, they didnt know Carbineers could hit the mind pool.

Counter attack works. Defenses work. Carbineers deal more damage faster than any other class. Mix with BH Carb 3 and you're going to be a killing machine. (over 20 different KD+dizzy combos, a nice way to forget about the 30sec timer on each KD special, just rotate through your posture change attacks). Without BH Carb3 youre going to be one bad mofo.
