We are supposed to be the ones that do the fully-autmomatic in your face area action.... unless they have full auto enabled on their sniper rifles...

Strafeshot2 has a higher damage multiplier (equal to crippling shot) and it can be used with the inherently higher damage weapon (T21). With a +6 rifle speed skill attachment, you can fire strafeshot2 at the cap with just master rifleman if you have a 7.1 second or faster rifle.

It would take a whole lot more effort to get to the speed cap with any carbine and burstshot2.

No Way... the T21 is armor rating: 3.. our best armor peircing is 2 and we are still slowerand weaker in AoE damage?

What about give carbineers a third box BurstShot3 or FullAutoArea3 that has great speed mods and damage multipliers that would outmatch any t21 - StrafeShotter.

This is why I'm puzzled that carbineer is becoming the FOTM. Pure carbineers are still crippled with only +60 speed. Heck, even as a BH / carbineer I still need krayt / form-fitted stock weapons to get on or near the speed cap with a damage sliced / damage powered-up weapon.

Anyone else predict a mass exodus fromas the purecarbineer FOTM-er's discover that the profession is still playing second fiddle to riflemen?

If you're a BH/carbineer, hitting 90 carbine speed isn't that hard. With 90 speed, you can hit the cap with all specials when using a 4.0 second carbine.

As a MBH /carbineer, 90 speed would require either +5 via skill tapes or from the first box of the speed line. Considering that box is 5 skill points out of the 27 I have left from MBH / novice carbineer, I'll pass. Armor attachments are kind of a pain to find without wading through forum auctions, but maybe I should just pony up some creds and buy one +5 carbine speed for a Ubese shirt and be set. I'll wait until all the carbineer FOTM-er's begin their exodus - maybe I can get one for nothing.

It would be nice to fire my 199-374 @ 2.9s elite on the cap, instead of just near it. All of my lasers are already on the cap, from the lowly 90-515 @ 2.7s to my 110-605 @ 2.5s.

+5 carbine speed skill attachments is far far easier to get than +25 from skill attachments. You only need five +1 armor attachments, which all of the ones I have, I've found on the bazaar for 6k a piece. Putting them in bracers, biceps, and gloves and they will last a very long time.

If 2.9s is your slowest carbine and your at +85 speed, then you only need +2 to hit the speed cap, which you could put on a mabari belt and ubese shirt.

You could even buy extra +1's to replace any biceps, bracers, gloves that you loose to armor repairs. I'd love to be able to do that, but I'd have to get two +10's first.

The misconception is thinking that Riflemen are snipers.

The T21, by EU definition, is a heavy repeating blaster rifle.

To give a real life correlation, the Laser Rifle is an M16A2, the Laser Carb is a M4. The T21 would be akin to an M60.

There are many Commando's and Riflemen who would like to see the Rifle profession become sniper oriented with a heavier hitting rifle and less speed, and give the Commando's the ability the machine gunner role.

That's not really a misconception. Otherwise they wouldn't have head/mind shots, sniper shot, specials described as being designed to be used in the prone posistion, the take cover skill, hardly any accuracy while moving skill mods... I bet I could come up with more, but I'll stop there. Far more sniping like stuff than any of the other ranged professions. Whether or not they are actually usable is an entirely different matter.

Rifleman already have the heaviest hitting weapon in the game along with the most speed. The disrupter acid rifle isn't very far behind either. They really don't need much more damage.

You just proved my point.

You mention our mind shots and head shots, sure signs that we are snipers. Then, you mention our insane speed and coupled with our AoE attacks, we're now machine gunners. As I said, some people think we're just snipers, we're not. Some people think we'rejust machine gunners, we're not. We're both, sadly.

Rifleman doesn't need more damage as-is, no. However, if it was to be made a pure sniping profession, it would. Drop the speed at Master Rifle to atleast +60(so +95 would be the max), then increase the damage modifier of the headshots and mindshots slightly(maybe another .5x), and then replace all the AoE attacks with high-damage single-target attacks.
