Very true, but whereas the Rifleman must do all that, other professions can just go pay 10k and wait 10 minutes infront of the Coronet starport to be buffed.

Wasn't there any talk about increasing rifleman speed cap to 3 seconds?

Way back in the day Holocron started throwing out the idea that the speed cap for pistols should be 0.5s, the speed cap for carbines 1.0s, and the speed cap for rifles 1.5s. It got trounced because it would mean that pistoleers were firing three times faster than riflemen, and at that time (with crappy buffs, no chef foods, and crappy armor) the pistoleer / expert bounty hunter already ruled the battlefield.

I am sure that there will be a change regarding speed in next publish. Take a look at the speed formula:

Actual speed= Weapon Speed x (1-Speed skill/100)

See what is wrong with this? If you have 100 or above actual speed will be 0 or negative (i.e. speed cap of 1 sec is used). This means that you can have a T-21 with 10 speed and you still will fire at speed cap. Think Master Rifleman has +95 speed so you would just need a +5 modifier to hit cap.

That is wrong. Weapon speed should always be an important factor, not only when you have low skills.

IMO, Carbineer is working as intended when it comes to speed and speed modifiers. It is the other classes that need to be changed.

Wasn't there any talk about increasing rifleman speed cap to 3 seconds?

The design goals was:

Rifleman - High damage / Low speed / Long range
Pistoleer - "Low" damage / High speed / Short range
Carbineer - Medium damage / Medium speed / Medium range

I am sure that combat balance will make sure it will be this way.

Anyone else predict a mass exodus fromas the purecarbineer FOTM-er's discover that the profession is still playing second fiddle to riflemen?

Umm. Publish 7 was one of the best things to happen to Carbineers in a long time. Yes we are still an underpowered class. But why not wait until Publish 8, the so called Combat Rebalance publish, until you predict doom and gloom?

I wont exodus anywhere until I see what happens in Publish 8.

Personally as a BH carb and a Master Carbineer . No profession has outdamaged me .. The T21 toting rifleman using Vasarian brandy Muon and an ent buff was still draining Mind faster than anything (i was one of them) . while as a Carbineer using my Krayt Laser Scope Stocked Carb was Non-stop Spamming Bursts and never stopped unless i was KD'd .. That rifleman eventually was seeing if he had enuf Stomach filling for the bluemilk or was just down to auto firing.

Maybe you misunderstood me. There is a certain segment of this game that jumps around from profession to profession based on what gets nerfed and what gets fixed. They're the Flavor-of-the-Month players (FOTM'ers). With the changes to rifleman and defense stacking I've seen a lot of these players on my server flock to carbineer. They see the new specials on paper and everything looks good, but they don't realize that the profession still has serious problems. They'll master it, be disappointed because they think that carbineer was the hot setup for this patch, and leave in droves. The true carbine lovers will still be standing here.

Yes, publish 7 was great, but the profession will not be even close to fixed until either a.) carbineers can hit the speed cap with their weapons without picking up skills outside of carbineer or buying SEA's or b.) the other ranged professions are slowed down to our speed (or near it).

You can't argue that speed isn't a huge problem. I've run the numbers - in my switch from MBH / carbineer to master carbineer by itself my dps is going to be gutted unless I put up some cash and get some nice SEA's. Pistoleers don't have this problem, riflemen don't have this problem - why do we?

In PvP and PvE ... all of our AoE attacks don't even compare to this Rifleman's shot and array of weapons.... We are now viable in PvE... Comparable... No.
